About the property

2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, spacious apt, on beach, with sea and mountain views.

This is a completely renovated, very spacious, (70 sq m) property with 2 double bedrooms, both ensuite.The main bedroom has a balcony with a view of the beach and both bedrooms have fantastic views of Fort St-Elme and Fort Dugommier. The second bedroom has an additional single bed and there are two double sofa beds in the living area, available on request for a supplement. Both rooms are en-suite with shower, WC, sink and heated towel rail. There is a remote controlled electric ceiling fan in the main bedroom and a stand alone fan in the second bedroom. Bed linen and towels are included. While the apartment is ideal for a family of four a group of up to 6 can be accommodated, for an additional per person fee (€10-€15), using the two double sofa beds. These are top of the range sofa beds with very comfortable mattresses.

The bright open living\dining area has a modern fully fitted kitchen, equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay, including free Wifi and a Nespresso machine! Other utilities include an induction hob, oven, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, toaster, kettle, iron, and hairdryer. The 'salon' had an integrated TV/DVD player with a selection of adult and children's French and English DVDs and access to TV d'Orange. The two large 'faux leather' sofa beds allow comfortable viewing for up to 6 adults. There is an electric ceiling fan that keeps the entire living area cool. There's a large indoor dining table with 6 chairs as well as two foldable tables and an additional 6 chairs to facilitate full occupancy or the option of eating on the terrace.

The living room opens onto a balcony and terrace with views over Collioure Bay and the famous clock tower, church and castle. The apartment is south/south west facing so the balconies and terrace get great afternoon and evening sun. You can sit on the terrace, sip a glass of rosé wine or two, and watch the sun set over Collioure as the clock tower, castle, L'Eglise Notre Dame Les Anges and the promenade light up.

There is direct access to a small sandy beach which is ideal for families as it offers safe swimming and snorkeling without having to cross any roads. The main beaches of Collioure, with a playground, carousel and an enticing selection of restaurants, are less a 20-minute coastal stroll away or you can take the €1 bus from right outside the 'Résidence'. These beaches offer kayak and standup paddle board hire as well as boat trips along the coast between Collioure, Argeles-Sur-Mer, and Port Vendre. There is free parking available in the visitor's car park and there are also usually spaces free directly outside the apartment, covered private parking is also available.

Port Vendre, an active fishing port with a great selection of fish restaurants, is only a 10-minute walk away along a coastal path that passes another small beach suitable for swimming and sunbathing and a Lidl supermarket that is less than a 5-minute walk from the apartment.

For walkers, Fort St-Elme and Fort Dugommiercan be reached in 10-15 minutes from a path across the road from the 'Résidence', the incredible views are worth the short climb and once on this elevation, there are endless marked walkways to choose from whatever your walking level. The famous 'moulan' is also a short walk away.

We have been holidaying in Collioure for over 15 years and although at one time we owned a property a 20-minute drive away it has long been our dream to have our own apartment in Collioure. After years of searching, we finally found this property which has an idyllic location, given the breathtaking views, the sunny aspect and the proximity to the sea. We have had it completely renovated and decorated to the highest standards to include all of the facilities we feel make a holiday enjoyable. We hope you will enjoy your time there, as much as we always do, as ideally, we hope to build up a small selection of visitors who will love and respect the apartment as much as we do and want to return year after year.

The property is easily accessible from Perpignan (20 min drive), Girona (55 min drive), Carcassone (90min drive) and Barcelona (2hr drive) airports. Collioure train station is a 30-minute walk from the apartment or a 5min bus/taxi ride.

About Oonagh Conway

We are both enthusiastic walkers, swimmers, and stand-up paddleboarders. We have been holidaying in this area for over 15 years and find Collioure has a charm not found anywhere else in the world. Full of beautiful historic buildings and packed with fabulous restaurants, yet retaining a friendly atmosphere. It is very safe for swimming, with three main beaches all sheltered within the bay providing a natural playground for kayaking, standup paddleboarding, swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. There are numerous well marked and maintained walks along the coast and in the hills to suit all levels of ability. Port Vendre is only a 10-minute walk from the apartment and while an active fishing port it is very picturesque. It has very good restaurants ranging from the very reasonably priced with three-course menus starting at around €16 to the very expensive restaurants including the Oyster Bar near the old lighthouse on the northern pier.

Collioure is all about the views and this apartment has them all. All rooms have sea and mountain views and are bright and spacious. The beach is literally a stone's throw away and you can put on your swimsuit and walk straight down for a sea dip first thing in the morning. Then a 4-minute walk to Lidl for your morning pastries and back to have breakfast on the terrace. Strole down to Collioure and browse around the Wednesday and Sunday markets to collect fresh cheese, salads, and bread or ready made dinners of rotisserie chicken or paella. In the evenings you can watch the sun set over Collioure while you sip a glass or two of local rosé wine and take in the breathtaking view of this historic town as the castle, church and famous clock tower light up. There are boat trips to Argeles-sur-Mer where a whole range of water sports are catered for including kite surfing and wind surfing. This is a much more lively seaside resort and provides plenty of entertainment for teenagers and young adults. There's plenty of choice for clothes shoppers in the markets which are open every day in summer. The port area has a great range of restaurants which are all very reasonably priced.

What makes this apartment unique

This apartment has been just recently renovated to the highest standards so everything is new, including all furniture and appliances. It is unusual in this area as it is very large and spacious for a two bed and is unique in having two bathrooms each equipped with a shower, sink, WC and heated towel rail. The two sofa beds are of the highest quality with very good mattresses. It has free Wifi and an integrated TV/DVD player with a selection of DVD's supplied. We have left our Nespresso machine for guest's use as we find it consistently makes the perfect coffee. The south/southwest aspect means the apartment is sunny and bright. It is a much quieter area to stay in than the center of Collioure where the 5 am emptying of bins and the 8 am bugle provide a harsh awakening to most hotel residents.

Perfectly located Collioure apartment

This is a very well equipped apartment with everything you could want. Plenty of space (we were four people). Excellent cooking facilities and very nice bathrooms. From the balcony there are fabulous views of Collioure. Access is easy including trouble-free parking.

It is perfectly located for both beach visits and regional sightseeing. The beach is a couple of minutes away. It does get crowded so it pays to get down early to claim a spot (this means getting your towels set out - you can leave them and come back later!). The water is very clear so it's perfect for snorkeling.

It's also easy to get on to fast roads that give you quick access to the region and there are so many places to visit. Getting around Perpignan can be slow at peak times - a SatNav is recommended as the multitude of roads around Perpignan can be confusing at first. It's also convenient for the motorway for Spain in the west or for Languedoc in the east for longer trips. We got to France via Gerona airport which is about an hour and a half away so very easy.

Shopping for food is very convenient. There is a Lidl within a 5 minute walk (just like Lidl in the UK with a few additional local products), and other supermarkets in Port Vendres which are 10 minutes or so by car. It's easy to walk into Collioure (15-20 minutes) which is really useful because parking there is impossible. It's a great place to just wander around and it has several places for excellent local wines and foods, and some interesting art shops. There are restaurants everywhere.

In summary, I don't thinks you could improve on this apartment as a holiday venue.

Overall excellent.

Very clean and tidy - genuinely looks like the photos. Everything you might need for two weeks is there and in good condition. Excellent view of Collioure castle, clock tower etc. Very close to Les Batteries' small beach. Minor issue of locks overcome swiftly and with professionalism. Apt. does face the sun so main bedroom especially did get very hot in the exceptional weather they had in Aug 2018 - aircon would have been a boon. We were unable to use the covered car parking spot with our saloon, as someone appears to routinely park their car in the area needed to access the spot. We did however find parking outside the flats most of the time. It is two flights up however, so if disabled in any way, this would be a challenge, particularly as the dark stairwell lights automatically turn off quite quickly. Fridge we found small for just us two. All-in-all, as old hands in Collioure/Les Batteries, wouldn't hesitate in recommending or staying again.

Excellent modern apartment close to Collioure

We stayed at this wonderful apartment which is located approx. half way between the two towns of Collioure and Port Vendre.

The apartment has everything you need plus more. Everything seems to have been updated very recently and everything seem almost new. Excellent cooking facilities and the Bathrooms are very clean and newly decorated. There was plenty of space (we were 2 Adults and 3 Children under 6 years). In the 2nd Bedroom, there was a very large Bunk-bed and our 3 small children loved sleeping in this.

There is a Multi-story Car park (with a dedicated space for the apartment) very close by but we used to park directly in front of the Apartment as it was a little more convenient for us (as we had prams, toys etc..) and there was always space.

There are 3 balconies and my wife, and I used to sit out at night with a glass of red wine (just like in the pictures).

The TV, wifi are all excellent.

There is a small beach right in front of the Apartment. It was always crowded, so as there were 5 of us, we simply didn’t use it. However, I’m sure if you were just a couple, it would be fine.

We used to get into the Car and within only ~10 mins drive, there were the excellent long stretches of beaches in Argeles Plage. Parking at this beach is effortless too, with 200 spaces right in front of the beach.

A SatNav is recommended as the multitude of roads around this area as the roads can be confusing at first.

Shopping for food is very convenient as there is a Lidl within a few minutes’ walk and other supermarkets in Port Vendres (15 min walk). We used the Lidl all the time.

Collioure is a beautiful town. Parking there is stressful however and almost impossible during the day/weekend. However, it's so easy to walk into Collioure. I measured it at 1.3km (15-20 minutes) to the town center. The thing is it doesn’t feel even that long as the walk is along the coastline and there are beautiful views all the way. You will end up looking forward to the walk and take pictures along the way. Even with small kids, it was a pleasure to walk in and out.

Collioure is a great place to just wander around and there are restaurants everywhere and most have an English and children’s Menu if you ask.

In summary, we really enjoyed ourselves at this Apartment and would have no hesitation in re-booking it again.

The apartment was spacious, bright and spotlessly clean. The views were lovely and it was great to be able to walk to Collioure or Port Vendres and not have to having to bother about parking. Snorkelling from the beach beside the flat was amazing . We clambered over the rocks to get a (tiny) pebbly cove all to ourselves each day. Would return again without hesitation.

Clean, well equiped (except air conditioning) and vey well located.

Points of attention in the choice:

- seagull very active in the early morning so inf you are late spleepers better pass - BUT the light and temperature are the best at that time in hot summer

- if hot summer, absence of air condiinnning might burden cold lovers

Points of excellence :

- walking distance from Collioure and Port Venders (1 km each ways) is very nice for morning coffees on different terrace

- the small beach at 100m from the apartment is very nice and offers a large protected swimming creek

- apartment is large, 2 bathrooms (practical) and well equiped

Wonderful 3 generation break by the sea

We spent an excellent four day vacation in this apartment which is spacious and decorated with taste for holiday comfort. The beds were comfortable as were also the pull-out sofas in the living room. Two modern bathrooms make life easy as does the modern kitchen. The crown for the vacation was - of course - our almost private little Mediterannean beach, and the SUN!

We will return!

Huge variety of local Collioure restaurants, the 12th Century castle, church and famous clock tower. Walk up to the old windmill and Fort St Elme. Take in the breathtaking views of the local vineyards. Visit the nearby Port Vendre. Take the local €1 bus to Perpignan. Take the glass bottom boat trip to Argeles-Sur-Mer. Relax on the beach, swim in the sea and try out standup paddleboarding.

Keys are kept in a lock box accessible at any time, day or night, to facilitate flexibility for guests arrival. Beds are freshly made up in advance and bath and hand towels are supplied per guest. Guests are kindly asked to take special care with the disposal of personal hygiene items, and use the bin provided, as the WC in the main en-suite will become blocked if anything other than toilet tissue is disposed of in it.
