2BR, 1BA 3 Season Cabin on Island Lake
About Paul Canfield
Hello! My name Paul Canfield, and I work as a Realtor in Eau Claire, WI. I grew up hunting and fishing in these very woods as a child, with grandparents nearby. Now, I enjoy staying at these cabins, and have tried to make them as comfortable as home.
Paul Canfield purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Paul Canfield chose Winter
This property was owned by the neighbors and two of the nicest people you could ever meet. When they decided it was too difficult to maintain the properties and make the 8 hour trip from Illinois, they asked me if I would be interested in buying them. I knew how much they enjoyed the cabins and knew the history of 20 years of family and friends and so it was an easy choice. I made some cosmetic improvements and decided to open them up to other families. It is a wonderful place to relax and play and I hope you will enjoy it the way I do.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabins sit about 50 feet from the water on top of a small ridge which overlooks the entire lake. There is an island in the middle which is the adopted home of two bald eagles which build a large nest every year. The lake is spring fed from a slew on the east side of the lake, which makes it very clear and refreshing to swim in. The deepest part of the lake is about 50' deep with most of it around 5-15' deep. I enjoy fishing, biking, riding the ATV trails, going to Hayward for golf/shopping, kayaking or tubing down the Chippewa River, hunting in the fall, and exploring the 1000's of acres of Chequamegon National Forest. It is truly a wonderful place to visit.

Decent place. Very close to other cabin. Had mice and grill was filthy
Nice small lake. Beautiful scenery
Nice and cozy, perfect for our party of three..
I have fished in the Winter Wisconsin area multiple times, the cabins caught my attention when fishing on Island Lake a couple of years ago.. Glad I looked into renting one as it was the the perfect central location to travel to the many great lakes that are in the region plus share with my son and his friend on their first Musky fishing trip..
We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The lake was smaller, but clear water and very quiet. The boat landing was in good condition and it made it easy to launch our boat. We enjoyed watching the loons, the eagles and other wildlife. Paul was patient and responsive to all of our questions. Including a last minute rental of the pontoon for a day after the motor on boat went out on the Chippewa Flowage. We didn’t get a chance to take advantage of the canoe and kayaks, but it was nice knowing they were there to use. We would recommend a stay at this rental.
Cozy cabin, quiet lake, beautiful place...
Enjoyable, clean, cozy cabin with everything you need for 3-4 people to stay. We loved the lake and setting, would definitely return to stay again.

There is a grocery store in Winter (Appx 6 miles South), Medical Center in Ladysmith (Appx 30 miles South), and Hayward, WI is 25 miles West which has festivals, fine dining, golf, mini-golf, go-carts, National Lumberjack Festival, LOC Casino, and much more. The Tuscobia Trail is popular with the ATV crowd and snowmobiles. If you have a green thumb you MUST visit the Winter Green House, which has plants you will never see anywhere else.
