Lovely holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were very fortunate to come across Cosy Nook as it turned out to be the perfect place to unwind. It was a first holiday for our young Golden Retriever who soon settled in. She enjoyed ball chasing on the dog friendly beach and meeting other dogs.

Jo the owner appeared at the front door to welcome us, she was very informative and helpful. We were amazed how well equipped 'Cosy Nook' was. Comfy sitting room with log burner. Spacious bathroom with heated towel warmer and underfloor heating! Super comfy bed, we both slept very well.

The Five Pilchards pub is a short walk away and serves excellent food and local Cornish beer. Fat Apples cafe serves a substantial lunch.

We were sad to have to leave and hope to return. Thank you Jo

Charming cottage in quiet location

  • 5 of 5

Located on a quiet side road, surrounded by trees, the cottage also has its own charming small garden. Inside, it is well equipped and furnished and we soon felt completely 'at home'. The beds are very comfortable and the under floor heating in the bathroom is a nice touch (once we'd worked out how to use it). Porthallow is picturesque and quiet, and did not feel overrun by tourism at all, as some parts of Cornwall are in summer. We liked the friendly village pub, the 5 Pilchards, where we ate a number of times and enjoyed a drink or two. It is just a short walk from the cottage. Other pubs / restaurants, a convenience store and a bakery for us fans of the Cornish pasty, are available in St Keverne, a short drive away.

Mobile phone coverage is limited in the area, but the cottage has a good internet connection, if you want to remain in contact.

Jo was very welcoming and friendly, explaining everything needed on arrival. Our paths crossed on a couple of occasions in the village, offering a more local, personal (but not intrusive) feel to our stay. We would definitely book Cosy Nook cottage again in the future.
