About Graham and Lorraine Lay
Hi! We're Graham and Lorraine Lay and we fulfilled a lifelong dream to move to Cornwall when we bought Tredarrup Holiday Cottages near the coast of North Cornwall in January 2017. Born and brought up in London, we moved to rural Wiltshire in 1990 to bring up our children until we could finally retire from our jobs and move to the West Country. We get great personal satisfaction from always providing our guests with a superb experience, ensuring they go home with terrific memories of their time in Cornwall.

Why Graham and Lorraine Lay chose Michaelstow
We've always dreamed of living in Cornwall, having holidayed here as children ourselves and enjoyed countless family holidays with our own three children. Cornwall has its own unique identity, which it is rightly proud of, and you're never far from the sea and the stunning coastline. The north coast where we are situated is wild and rugged, rich in myth and legend, whilst the gentler south coast, popular with sailors and tourists, is also within very easy reach. Bodmin Moor in the centre of Cornwall is popular with walkers and is rich in ancient history - watch out for The Beast of Bodmin Moor!
What makes this Barn unique
After an extensive search we consider ourselves very lucky to have found Tredarrup. With stunning views across Cornwall, the property is 400 years old and unspoilt, with an abundance of original features and thick stone walls, which all contribute to it obtaining the highest possible star rating from VisitEngland. We fell in love immediately. The original conversions of this stunning Grade 2 Listed property were very well done and we have been able to build our own improvements to make these four unique cottages a luxurious, stylish and comfortable retreat for your holiday. Having stayed in countless self-catering properties ourselves over the last 30 years these are honestly the best cottages we have seen and we hope you'll feel the same!

Excellent, a wonderful property to stay in
A really lovely barn conversion, beautifully done in a beautiful location. The barn could not have been better equipped, including plastic picnic cups and plates that were really useful, blankets in a blanket box (very homely) hot water bottles.
There was a wonderful welcome pack waiting for us, including a lovely cake, eggs, tea, coffee and milk in a bottle, very charming. And beautiful wild flowers too.
A very restful place to stay. I loved it and so did our Canadian cousins who were travelling with us. We travelled around and stayed in some beautiful places during their visit but they loved this property best.
Well done, and a big thank you, to Lorraine and Graham.
We loved everything about this property. Wonderful setting, beautiful house and lovely hosts. The welcome basket was a real treat and the cake, especially delicious.
What a dream!
We could have not chosen a more welcoming, more perfect accommodation for our trip down to Cornwall. The Mill Barn was beautiful inside and out and made my Mothers 60th all that more special!
To top it off the homemade cake and welcome package was greatly appreciated.
I cannot wait to make our way down to the coast again and will be looking to book in again for certain.
Thank you so much for your 5* review. It was lovely to meet you all and we're so glad you enjoyed your visit to Cornwall and your mother's birthday celebrations in Mill Barn! We hope to welcome you back soon.
What a delightful place! Lorraine and Graham are very gracious hosts. They greeted us with delicious Cornish treats - milk, butter, eggs and cake! Every detail of the Mill Barn is absolutely beautiful and it was equipped with anything we needed. What a perfect jewel of a place to explore Cornwall from. Absolutely delightful! We can’t wait to come back and explore some more!

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We're delighted that you all enjoyed your stay in Mill Barn so much and we hope to be able to welcome you back in the future.
Beautiful setting, home from home with a warm welcome from the hosts.
My wife and I with our 3 children needed space and so when looking this was one of our priorities, the Mill Ball was a superb choice, with the bedrooms being on the same floor with 2 gorgeous bathrooms, no one was fighting in the morning. The communal space was fab, large kitchen with dining table but the little snug room meant the kids when we returned from our daily adventures loved to disappear here and wind down watching some TV together. All in all a real gem.
Say yes to Tredarrup Holday Cottages!
The Mill Barn was amazing, Graham and Lorraine were such kind and welcoming hosts!! There is nothing better than sipping morning coffee or tea with the quiet beauty of Cornwall as the backdrop!
Loved it and would definitely book a return trip!
Thank you for your lovely review! It was a real pleasure to meet you all and we're so glad you enjoyed your stay with us in beautiful North Cornwall. We very much to hope welcome you back in the future!
Tredarrup is ideally situated for exploring the nearby coast of North Cornwall and beyond. We're nestled in peaceful farmland, with fantastic views across Cornwall, but within easy reach of the Atlantic Highway - giving easy access to the numerous sandy beaches, fishing villages and moorland walks of Cornwall. St Teath, the local village, has a newsagent, grocery store and a friendly pub with good food and in the other direction is St. Tudy, with its renowned inn and restaurant featured in the Good Food Guide. Visit the sandy beaches at Polzeath, Trebarwith Strand, Daymer Bay, Rock, Crackington Haven and Widemouth Bay. Or spend a day in the foodie mecca of Padstow, with its Seven Bays for Seven Days. Try your hand at surfing, sea kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding or coasteering at nearby Port Gaverne. Stroll around Port Isaac, famous as Port Wenn in ITV's Doc Martin, or any of the other pretty local fishing villages such as Boscastle and Port Quin. Try sailing or fishing - both sea fishing and coarse fishing are available locally. Follow in Poldark's hoofprints with a horse ride across Bodmin Moor and visit the filming locations of both the Poldark and Rosamunde Pilcher novels. Cycle the beautiful, flat and traffic-free Camel Trail, just 3 miles away from your cottage. See the birthplace of King Arthur at nearby Tintagel. Walk the vast and haunting landscape of Bodmin Moor and the stunning South West Coast Path. Only 35 minutes away is the world famous Eden Project and a little further is The Lost Gardens of Heligan. St. Ives, the Minack Theatre, Lands End and Falmouth are all easily accessed for day trips as is the beautiful North coast of neighbouring Devon. One trip is never enough which is why our guests return to this beautiful part of the world year after year.
