About the property

2 bedroom ground floor self contained apartment with off street parking

The accommodation is a ground floor fully equipped self contained property with hard standing parking area at the front. It is let on a self catering basis however the owner is on hand on the site to assist with any queries. The lounge, dining area and kitchen are all open plan and the French double doors open on to a pleasant balcony overlooking the pool area.

There are two bedrooms each with ceiling fans, double wardrobes and vanity units. The 2nd bedroom can be arranged as either 2 twin beds or a double bed to suit requirements. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge.

The bathroom is a modern facility with double wash basins, shower and bath.

Enclosed pool area with bar and bbq, patio, and outdoor furniture. The front of the property looks to the hills of St. John and the rear of the property faces the Atlantic Ocean, with a clear sea view and also towards the village of Marley Vale

Off street parking available. The property has a enclosed pool area ideal for relaxing in, having a barbecue or just enjoying the cool breeze from the Atlantic coastline which is visible from the property. A troop of monkeys may be seen at various times of the day playing in the trees nearby. Selection of reading material, games and DVD available suitable for all age groups. Babysitting service available by arrangement. A welcome pack is provided with basic requirements and a light evening meal may be provided on arrival by prior arrangement with the owner.

The monkeys pass by the property every day going to feed and again in the evening returning home. They often stop to play on the pasture at the rear of the property and are very entertaining to watch.

Owners Profile: After having visited friends living in Barbados we found we were coming back to the Island more frequently so decided to build a house here. We moved here on a more permanent basis upon completion in 2005. We used the local workforce to help build the property and many of these have now become our friends. So if you are in the village and mention you are staying with us, you are sure of a big welcome. Having worked in the Building Trade all his working life, Eric keeps the property up to a very high standard and has now become a bit of a tourist guide for our guests. Louise has worked in Local Government for over 24 years and was also a Magistrate in the UK. We have 2 sons, 2 daughters in law and 3 grandchildren who enjoy coming to visit not only us but our beautiful Island.

About Mrs L Jacobs/Mr E Norris

We fell in love with Barbados after visiting friends on the Island for many years. Eric has been in the building trade all his working life and maintains the property to a high standard. Louise worked for Local Government for many years and was also a Local Magistrate.

Eric is an avid Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club supporter and enjoys meeting up with anyone who loves sport of all descriptions.

We enjoy entertaining and sharing our love and knowledge of the Island with all who come to visit us. We have had many return visitors to the property who have also now become friends.

We enjoy socialising and trying out new places to eat, drink and take in the entertainment and beautiful settings. These are the places,we recommend to visitors as they are tried and tested.

Having been in the area for over eleven years we have made many friends with the locals and have become members and supporters of the local cricket team. A Saturday afternoon can be quite an entertaining experience listening to the local banter.

East Point Bar and Grill is the newest social establishment in our area and is a fun place to meet up with friends for a Saturday afternoon lime or an evening Sundowner. Ryan, Tyrone and the Girls will all give you a big welcome. Just mention that you are staying with Eric and Louise and they will ensure you are well looked after.

Pointing out the monkeys crossing the pasture at the back of the property is always a pleasure as we still get the same entertainment from them as any new visitors to our property.

Why Mrs L Jacobs/Mr E Norris chose St. Philip

We decided to build our property in this area as it gives us the benefits of being away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist area but is close enough to enjoy these facilities.

The area is naturally stunning with rugged rocks, sheltered coves and is the area that a lot of locals are moving into.

A direct, regular bus service will take you to Six Roads where you will find ample facilities such as Supermarkets, Pharmacy, Doctor's Surgery, Post Office, Banks, Local Vendors, Clothes and Furnitures stores. Or you can continue your journey across country, on the same bus to Bridgetown, all for $2BDS.

The East Point Bar and Grill opened in April 2015 and is proving such a wonderful spot to meet and dine. It opens from 11.30 until.....Ryan, Tyrone and the girls will always make sure you have a good visit. At present the Bar is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11.30am for general use but can be booked for private functions such as a wedding venue.

We are a short drive from the beautiful Sunbury Planation House which is great to visit but again is also a great wedding venue. Our own family members have come from the UK and enjoyed the facilities for their own wedding reception. Donna and her colleagues will handle everything for you.

Marco Polo Bar and Restaurant is about 15 mins drive away and is proving quite a popular place to spend an evening. It is situated close to the Crane Hotel and is frequented by locals, holiday makers and provides entertainment on a regular basis.

All in all we are fairly centrally placed to visit all these establishments.

What makes this apartment unique

Far from the maddening crowd is the reason we chose to live at Culpepper. The tranquil evenings sitting on the balcony enjoying the cool east coast breeze just did it for us.

After a day in town or busy sightseeing it is always good to come back to Louric to enjoy a dip in the pool or sit on the balcony enjoying a relaxing drink.

Knowing the choice of chilling or being adventurous is waiting the next day makes this relaxed atmosphere all the more inviting.

Although you can enjoy the privacy of your self contained apartment we are always at hand to answer any queries, give advice on local amenities or facilities or maybe show you how to play the local version of dominoes called 50s.

Most of our visitors return again and again and have become friends. It is a pleasure to welcome them back.

What an amazing holiday - all thanks to Louise and Eric. Stayed at their wonderful apartment that is situated on the south east of the island in St Philip. This is the second time we have stayed here but this year a pool has been installed at the property. Ideal for relaxing all day at the house or coming back for a quick dip after a day sight seeing. Our 4 year old daughter loved the pool and learned to swim within days. Stayed here for one week at the start of our holiday, got married, went on honeymoon for 2 weeks then returned for one more week before heading back to the UK. Ideal place to stay to relax and great base to see what the island has to offer.

I would highly recommend this apartment and cannot thank Louise and Eric for all the help in our preparations for our wedding. Great hosts and we will be back.

There is plenty of storage spaces for toiletries, etc. There are two lockable doors into the bathroom allowing access from the main bedroom or access from the hallway. For my hubby an I it does not get better than this. Louric is the place to be if you want to be relaxed, be in a beautiful surrounding enjoying the breezes off the ocean. If you like to hear traffic go by this is not the place for you.You are not far from the beaches and restaurants and Eric is always there (not in your face) to tell you about the local spots to try in the area.The place is very clean, safe, and everything works.It was fun to see the monkeys go by just outside the property and the garden is lovely.

We did not get to meet Louise, but hoping to meet her on our next visit!

We wish our stay was longer.

Equipped with a pool and situated in a quiet residential area, the property is a short walk from Marley Vale and the East Point Lighthouse. Here you will find the wonderful East Point Bar and Grill ideally situated for having an al fresco meal or a well deserved Sundowner. Across the cliff top is an enchanting walk to Skeete Bay where you can fish off the pier alongside the locals and maybe catch a glimpse of the turtles. Close by are the beautiful Bath Beach, Bottom Bay and Crane Beach. Surfing is within 30 min drive at Silver Point and the world famous Soup Bowl at Bathsheba. There are also two parks with plenty of picnic areas and children's play facilities located within a few minutes drive.

The property is ideally situated to visit Codrington College and St. John's Church and the beautiful rugged East Coast. About 20 min drive is St. Lawrence Gap where you can enjoy the busy bars and restaurants and of course Oistens for a Friday night Fish Fry. Barbados Golf Club is approx. 15 min drive away and Sandy Lane and Westmoreland Golf Clubs are about 45 min drive.

A direct bus route to Bridgetown runs about every 30 min.

Other Activities: Horse Racing at the Garrison Savannah Racetrack, Local Cricket Ground St. Catherine's just around the corner.

Golf: Barbados golf club and Rockley Golf club are situated about 15 min drive away. Sandy Lane and Westmoreland Golf Clubs on the West Coast are approximately 45 min drive from the apartment.
