The Chateau Gites provide a very high standard of accommodation, all have flat screen freesat TV, DVD, fully equipped kitchens inc washing machine, dishwasher & microwaves. There are smaller cottages and 2 larger houses available. The larger properties ( Farmhouse & Forge ) can be viewed separately at property number 6089070.
The Western Gite accommodates a max of 5 and has been recently completely renovated to include a fantastic walk in shower and open plan kitchen. The Eastern Gite accommodates 5 and has a jacuzzi bath and open plan kitchen. Both have electric central heating and cozy log fires for winter rental. The Farmhouse compliments the smaller houses with its far greater capacity for extended families or groups and is centrally heated and now includes air conditioning for instant heat/cooling on two floors. New for 2016 is The Forge. A large 3 bedroomed house. The Forge has the flexibility of using the dining room as either a dining room or a bedroom ,for less mobile guests.Outside, all the houses have private barbeques with tables and chairs for al fresco dining in the evening sun. Children are very welcome and there is a dedicated play area for them with trampoline, slide, swings and even a mini castle for them to play in. With 28 acres of private park your children are totally secure and can let off steam on their own while you relax and for those of you who want peace and quiet its easy to get away from, as the park is big enough to accommodate all. There are also a number of good golf courses locally. 'Chateau de Serrigny' Petit Chablis is also now available onsite with tasting of this and many others, only a short walk away from your door.
We've just come back from a lovely week in Serrigny. The gite is fabulous, very well equipped, clean and comfy. Lesley is the most wonderful hostess, ably assisted by Charlie and Harry, and looked after us perfectly, including one memorable barbecue evening where we drank some lovely local wines and I even bombed about the chateau grounds on a quad bike - a first for me!! Serrigny itself is very quiet and peaceful but there's plenty to do a little further afield. Can't wait to go back - particularly when the chateau renovations are complete. All in all, can't recommend highly enough - thanks so much Lesley, hopefully see you and the boys again soon xxx
The property is clean and as shown in the photos. It's location is central to many fabulous wineries, castles, good hiking, and restaurants in all directions. We arrived with no agenda. Thankfully the host went above and beyond to help us arrange wine tastings, booked us restaurants, and gave us the “must see” of the area. Great estate to get away from hectic lives and unplug. We enjoyed our time in Chablis thanks to our host’s recommendations. She also directed us to one of our new favorite wineries in nearby Tonnerre. Highly recommend the host and location!
Paul & Lesley picked us from Tonnere station and drove us to the Chateau, stayed in the Gite for 5 days which provided all amenities required and very compfotable, hosts explained set up and were very helpful. During our stay Paul & Lesley recommended many great places to eat and wine taste around Chablis and Champagne areas...very nice. They also invited us to socialize with plenty of wine and Barbecues, extremely entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable. When not travelling around area we were able to relax and fully take in the peace and serenity of Chateau De Serrigny, left their very refreshed, and highly recomeded...thanks Paul and Lesley
We had an absolutely great stay in the Eastern Gatehouse the weather was lovely, the surroundings were gorgeous and Lesley and Paul were very friendly and welcoming. The gite had everything you needed for your stay with lots of little extras. The Eastern gatehouse has a bath whereas the Western Gatehouse has a shower so depending on which you prefer but both are presented well. The area of Chablis is so beautiful this time of year and you will see the locals in the fields picking the grapes. There are so many places you can go wine tasting and tours. If you needed any help or advice Lesley and Paul were there to assist. We loved it here and hope to be back next year for another relaxing week. Thanks Lesley and Paul lovely meeting you both
From the beginning of the inquiry and booking process, right through the length of our stay, Lesley went out of her way to answer questions and provide helpful tips on places to see and restaurants to eat at. We found a lovely welcome bottle in our fridge on arrival and she'd even offered to buy some groceries for us as we were arriving on a Public Holiday. Lesley was a friendly and very helpful host.
The Eastern Gatehouse is an old stone cottage that's been restored and provides two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. It was big enough for the three of us (a couple plus adult daughter), and would be suitable for a family with children (there were both a double and a single bed in the second bedroom). Possibly a little too cosy for two couples, depending on how well they knew each other! Pretty much everything you need for a self-contained stay was provided, with quite a few little extras here and there.
Serrigny is a tiny village which is pretty isolated, making it ideal for a relaxing getaway. We enjoyed sitting outside dreaming about the chateau (the gatehouse is on the same property as the chateau) and its potential, and the evenings were very quiet as you'd expect. There are no shops at all in the village itself (although a baker's van arrives each morning around 10:00) so you need to head about 5km to the nearest town (Tonnerre) for your shopping (and restaurants). Chablis is a little further away in the other direction, and offers a good selection of excellent restaurants (ask Lesley!). If you're there on a Sunday, the markets in Chablis are very much worth going to.
The flip side of the seclusion is communication, and there's almost no mobile phone reception (which is a mixed blessing of course). The other point is that, while there's free WiFi, it doesn't work reliably in all parts of the house (at the moment): you may need to sit outside for reliable signal. That's OK in summer, but could be a bit of a challenge in winter. [this is the reason I'm rating the property 4/5 instead of 5/5 by the way, so if WiFi isn't important to you, you can consider it 5/5]
We spent our days visiting the delightful countryside (it is a winemaking region, after all). Places to put on your list include: Chablis, Auxerre, Vézelay, Noyers, the Canal de Bourgogne (cycling), Pontigny, to mention a few.
We had such a relaxing and peaceful week in the Gatehouse. The kids loved the trampoline and table tennis and we all went for long walks around the chateau. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed.
The Chateau is just a stones throw from the famous village of Chablis where there is a lively market every Sunday morning. Locally,we can organise free wine tasting for you and obviously give you the best tips on where to buy Chablis. Here you can taste for free and take guided tours of all the vineyards. 'On site' tasting is also possible in our dedicated cellar saving the need to drive or find babysitters. East takes you to Aube region where the Champagne grapes are grown before transportation north and finally with great Burgundy reds to the south you are perfectly placed. Burgundy also boasts some of the best cheese in France and there is nothing more enjoyable than sitting on the side of the Burgundy canal (4km away) with some fresh bread, cheese and a bottle of local wine. Restaurants offer a wide variety to suit all, but will of course serve up all the local specialities.
Other activities include fishing, rock climbing, canoeing, horse riding and bowling and loads of space for the children to run around in....
Auxerre is 20mins drive with its fantastic renaissance architecture and great shops and restaurants.
