Perfect Family Holiday Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Ideal, spent a very enjoyable and relaxing 2 weeks at this beautiful country cottage which is perfectly located to enjoy the surrounding beauty spots and the most stunning scenery and beaches that Devon has to offer. Home from Home. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage was homely comfortable and cosy

  • 5 of 5

The cottage we stayed in was an excellent place to spend a week for our chosen family holiday. The cottage is in a beautiful Devon village close to a very friendly local pub.

It was a nice break for myself and family especially for my mother after a long running illness. By the time we left my mother looked just how she used to before her illness.

The local area is populated with some of the most breath taking scenery in the world. The cottage was a lovely home to retreat to each night.

Cosy Peaceful cottage

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay, the cottage is cosy and peaceful despite being handily place next door to the village pub on one side and the village church on the other. The garden is a lovely terraced typical cottage garden.

The area is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the many walks in the area certainly dont dissappoint

Home from Home

had a most enjoyable week at this lovely quaint cottage. Everything was very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The spacious open plan kitchen/diner with large farmhouse table was absolutely ideal for our family mealtimes. If you love cooking ( we do ) , there's no need to worry about utensils and equipment as the owners have provided just about everything even a seasoned chef would be likely to need. If you don't then no worries either as there's the fabulous Dolphin Inn right next door serving great food at reasonable prices and no concerns about driving home afterwards if you happen to like more than just the occasional glass of wine. Greta location also as a base for touring with some delightful secluded beaches within walking distance at Wonwell or a little further afield at Bigbury Bay and Salcombe All in all a wonderful time had by all. Will definitely be re-booking at the next opportunity.

A bit tired

  • 2 of 5

This cottage is in a lovely village, right next to a wonderful pub, and very well situated for enjoying the surrounding countryside. It has no double glazing, so at times it sounded as though the pub's customers were about to walk into the room. The décor is rather tired and the overall sense we had was of a place that was uncared for. At the very least, it needs a lick of paint, inside and out, and although it was superficially clean it would have benefitted from a professional clean of the carpets and furniture. The kitchen units looked to be the work of an amateur from the 60s or 70s, and were stocked with an odd assortment of crockery; the saucepans were very badly scratched non-stick which we didn't fancy using; there were a lot of brasses on the walls, which could have enhanced the cottagey feel, but clearly hadn't been polished for a very long time; the electrical equipment had not been PAT tested. If you like jigsaw puzzles, you could spend a very happy holiday here, but there was very little in the way of up-to-date hints on where to go or what to do in the area.
