Cooks cottage is a delightful cosy Cotswold stone cottage attached only to neighbouring sheds on a quiet no through road leading to walks into the beautiful countryside yet moments from an excellent shop with post office services, two gastro pubs, a hotel with restaurant, the village green and the church. The cottage porch leads into an open plan quaint beamed living and dining area with a wood burning stove and a well equipped kitchen where every effort has been made to anticipate your needs. The master bedroom with an arched ceiling has ample storage and a king size bed while the second is twin bedded with pretty pine furniture. The ground floor bathroom has an electric shower over the bath. The cottage has been newly decorated and furnished for 2011 and is comfortable and inviting. There is street parking available. The stairs are very steep so the cottage is not suitable for young children or the infirm. Bookings usually accepted but direct with owner so please contact to avoid service charge as this is cheaper for guests.

I live in Bristol and the cottage is my own 'home from home' so I make sure it is well equipped and maintained. I love the location of the cottage which is quiet and peaceful yet has amenities and walks on the doorstep. It is wonderful to curl up in front of the wood burning stove!

Why Susan chose West Oxfordshire

The response of guests on trip advisor says it all! I ensure that guests enjoy their stay at the cottage by providing everything I can think of you might need and guests therefore treat the cottage with respect. Cooks Cottage offers a great location on the bridleway out of Kingham. I chose to buy a cottage in Kingham after a lot of research as it offers a railway station, an excellent village shop, three eateries and an unspoilt quiet picturesque village surrounded by lovely countryside walks. I especially enjoy the bluebell wood in May which I discovered when staying in a holiday cottage myself in the area - one of the reasons for buying Cooks Cottage. I did quite a bit of work when I bought the cottage, replacing the windows with beautifully crafted wooden cottage style windows, installing the wood burning stove and renovating and decorating throughout. I also chose good quality furniture like the super comfortable leather sofas and ensured the cottage had all mod cons.

What makes this cottage unique

You will love the views from the bridleway just at the end of the road, the cosy beamed living room with the wood burning stove and the latched cupboards in the bedroom. I enjoy the secluded garden in summer (Cooks Cottage Secret Garden) round the back of the cottages and accessed via a garden populated with local ducks. Children are welcome but the stairs are steep so not suitable for young children. There is also a detached cottage garden with BBQ at back of adjoining cottages. Housekeeping is included at the start and end of your stay and optional during your stay.

This is the perfect Cotswold cottage. It is totally equiped to the highest standard, the cottage is fresh and spotless throughout. The owner Sue leaves very detailed information regarding the cottage, charming Kingham village, and the Cotswolds in general, a reply from Sue to an email or text is usually within minutes. We have not one negative comment about our week's stay, so therefore give it the highest possible recommendation.

Cooks Cottage is on a quiet no through road leading to a bridleway out of Kingham and a network of walks around a beautiful bluebell wood yet is a few minutes walk from the village shop, gastro pubs and church. Kingham is a pretty unspoilt Cotswold village on the Oxfordshire / Gloucester border with a train service to Oxford and London from Kingham station about a mile and a half from the village. The cottage is ideally placed for exploring the Cotswolds and a short drive from Burford, Stow on the Wold and Chipping Norton and within easy reach of Blenheim Place Woodstock, Oxford, Cheltenham and Stratford upon Avon. The area abounds with good eating pubs. There are two a few minutes away in the village and gastronomic delights can also be found in the nearby villages of Churchill, Lower Oddington, Bledington and Chadlington. Daylesford Organic Farmshop Cafe and Spa is just outside Kingham. Cotswold attractions are within easy reach and Chipping Norton boasts a theatre. In the village cycles and cycle tours are available and it is good walking country.
