Make Your Colorado Vacation a Memorable One!
We live in Mantiou Springs and work in education. Although we love Manitou, we also love being able to get away to Salida for nice relaxing weekends when we are able to.
Eileen or Wally purchased this house in 2004
As we said earlier, we wanted a place to get away to that was within a reasonable distance from our home in Manitou Springs. We fell in love with Salida and were fortunate enough to find one of the very few available homes on the river. We just couldn't pass it up!
The house and neighborhood are surprisingly quiet considering how close it is to downtown. All the traffic turns before they come down Sackett unless they live on that street, which is only 3 blocks long. We have the Arkansas River in our backyard, and all the downtown shops and restaurants are a short walk away (one block). We are 20 minutes from Monarch and less than a mile from the Salida Golf Course. There are no limits to the things you can do in and around Salida and we think that we were more than lucky to have found a house in this particular location. We love it there.
We had a very relaxing weekend at this property. The location of this house is great for walking to restaurants and shops downtown, hiking and biking trails and river activities. The house has plenty of space for four to six people. The owners were very responsive to emails and made the process very easy. Great weekend getaway!
Eileen and Wally couldn't have been more accommodating. It was a comfortable home with great yard and easy access to the Arkansas River. Perfect location for all activities and walking distance to most. Definitely plan to make this trip again.
Proximity to river and downtown shops and restaurants cannot be beat. House is well laid out, clean, with good quality appliances. Beds are comfortable and rooms are light and airy. Nice decks for hanging out by the river or for easy removal of fishing gear without tracking dirt into the house. Owners very friendly - easy transaction. Next time I'm in Salida this will be my first choice.
Great yard for a dog that likes to play fetch. Large jacuzzi tub. Take your swim suite if you go when its warm. Walking distance to everything down town. Stove makes a buzzing sound. Menus for all the restaurants were in the binder. Nice beds. Nice rooms.
Enjoyed stay, had sll we needed, great location for town, easy drive to skiing
This was our second stay at Rio Perdido. Not only is the location ideal ( just a short walk to town), but the cabin is tidy and fully equipped with whatever you need for a weekend stay. And, the yard is completely enclosed, so it is fabulous for pet owners! Wally and Eileen are lovely owners--responsive, flexible, and easy going. On our first stay, we didn't arrive until the second night because my husband's flight was delayed. No problem, Wally was amenable to attaching that night to another stay--an entire year later! Thank you Wally and Eileen! I wish all VRBO owners were as accommodating as you two! We'll be back :).
