2 bedroomed converted boathouse and lime kiln with magnificent views
The Boathouse is an idyllic cottage on the spectacular Fowey River Estuary, just two miles from Fowey and a step away from the water’s edge. A converted boathouse and lime kiln, the cottage is one of the oldest buildings in the picturesque village of Golant.
Comfortable and welcoming with magnificent views across the river, there is a log fire for cosy winter holidays and a private terrace ideal for spring and summer barbecues.
The accommodation is reversed so that the living area has the benefit of the wonderful views over the river. In this light and airy room, white walls and prints complement a mixture of antiques and quality furnishings, with the dining area looking out over the inner harbour.
Driving instructions: Driving along the A380 towards St Austell, take the B3269 left, which is signposted to Fowey (it also has a signpost to the Hidden Valley Gardens).
Continue along the B3269, after about 3 miles you'll come to some pale-green/white farm buildings followed shortly by a staggered crossroad, take the left turning signposted to Golant.
Keep following this road towards the river, at the waterfront it turns to the right, continue past the no through-fare sign, The Boathouse is less than a hundred yards on the right.

The Boat House is amazing. Everything you could want for and more, especially the welcome Cornish Tea! A lovely warm and cosy place to stay and use as a base for such a lovely area.
Thank you Judith for making us so welcome.
Many thanks, I hope we get the chance to prepare tea for you again! Guests like you are always Welcome any time.
With best wishes,
We enjoyed our stay. Well maintained and very clean. Great location.
We had a lovely 2 week break at the Boathouse. On arrival the house was very clean and a generous welcome pack awaited us. The Boathouse is ideally situated for kayaking and watersport activities. Watching the local rowing club was a great source of entertainment. The Boathouse is in a good location but due to the weather we did find a number of the local walks very muddy. The walk into Fowey was a challenge but enjoyable with stunning scenery. Overall we all had a good holiday and would return to the Boathouse.
Beautiful well equiped Cottage
Loved the cottage. The cream tea when we arrived was most welcome after a long drive. everything was spotless and well equiped and we had milk, butter, tea and coffee, even a bottle of wine was left for us!
We chose a wet week for our holiday but there was still lots to do and we had this lovely retreat to come home to and relax afterwards.
Thank you Judith
i am delighted you enjoyed your stay, and would love to see you again in the future.
With best wishes,
Wonderful location and lovely cottage
Great holiday enjoyed being on the river.Wish we realised storage heaters were on though during one of the hottest weeks of the year.
Fantastic location and cottage
Outstanding, lovey location, fantastic cottage, lovely cream tea welcome, great sun terrace, nice Pub and landlord 100 yards away with good beer and food, fantastic views, and a small football pitch for the kids, oh yes, and canoe hire right next door. Do you need anything else?? :-)
Thank you for your kind words, I look forward to seeing you all in the future.
With best wishes from Cornwall,
Excellent, cannot be faulted
Delightfully warm welcome received from Judith with cream tea - just what was needed after a long journey. Cottage cannot be faulted. Excellent furnishings with every comfort taken care of. Golant is a charming sleepy village with friendly pub with good food and the Cormorant Hotel is a must for lunch on the terrace on a sunny day. Don't come here is you want retail action and kiss me quick hats but if you have taste and want somewhere soothing to the soul then this is the cottage for you. Bring your own boat and moor it outside then pootle along the River Fowey and out to sea ... We loved the cottage so much we are already planning our next trip and cannot recommend it highly enough.
Restaurants, pubs and stunning scenery are within walking distance, while sandy beaches, historical sites such as Restormel Castle and Lanhydrock House, and the famous Eden Project are a short drive away. In Summertime there’s a range of activities, and even in high summer the village of Golant remains one of Cornwall’s best-kept secrets as a peaceful waterside retreat. Autumn & Winter holidays are popular too, with the nearby oyster festival and Christmas & New Year celebrations.Golant is an ancient fishing village on the Fowey River Estuary, just two miles from Fowey. The area is steeped in fascinating history, with the last battle between Cromwell's army and the Royalists having taken place nearby in 1644, and many of Daphne du Maurier's novels set in the vicinity. This stretch of the Fowey River is equally famous as the inspiration for Kenneth Graham's The Wind In The Willows.
