2 bedroom character cottage right in the heart of the old town. There is a dedicated parking spot immediately outside the cottage. The accommodation is centrally heated with a log burner in the living room. Family bathroom upstairs along with 2 bedrooms, one double room and one twin room. You can hire bed linen at a cost of £15 for the double bed and/or £10 for each single, you are free to take your own if you prefer. We do not provide towels unless specifically requested and hired. The linen charge is payable locally at the end of your stay. Please note that we do not make a charge for cleaning we therefore ask you leave the property as you found it in a clean and tidy condition. Downstairs is the living room and kitchen/diner. Outside to the rear is a small courtyard with lovely views over low town and the River Severn. The house is situated on Cartway which is a famous old road that links low town with high town.
Bridgnorth is a delightful market town with plenty of shops, bars, eateries, antique shops, banks etc. and is also home to the Severn Valley Railway and the start of a wonderful trip along the River Severn by canoe. Cartway itself is in the most historic part of Bridgnorth and was once home to some 50 public houses of which only the Black Boy still remains and is very popular with locals and tourists alike. There is much to see and do in the local area including The West Midlands Safari Park, Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Ludlow Castle, Dudmaston Hall, Bliss Hill and The Black Country Living Museum. Horse riding is available a few miles away, canoe trips and steam railway trips are on your doorstep, walking in the surrounding countryside is a pleasure and there are also plans to open an indoor water park and swim centre at West Midlands Safari Park in nearby Bewdley. Highley is just a few miles drive from Bridgnorth and there you will find a golf course, and an excellent Leisure Centre with an open air swimming pool, Highley can also be accessed by steam train. There are also great Golf courses at Cleobury Mortimer, Bewdley, and Kidderminster. All this is there for you of course if you can drag yourself away from Bridgnorth itself where you will not be short of entertainment as there are many excellent places to dine or purchase takeaway food, a wonderful twice weekly market and lots of shops to browse through in a wonderful cliff side setting above the River Severn.
Please note that a minimum of a full week booking, commencing on a Saturday is required for Whit Week, August 4th to 18th and October half term.

We loved our stay on the Cartway - the cottage is in such a great location and was absolutely perfect. Very characterful, cosy and lovely views. Highly recommended - and Lucy was great to deal with.
Thank you for your review and kind words Hayley, I am really pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to Severn Steps in the future
Lovely cottage, great location
Looking for a cosy cottage for up to four people? Look no further!
Nice and clean, well equipped, well kept and awesome interior.
The location is really central, comes with a good parking spot and a ton of available information for things to do.
We really enjoyed the little fireplace.
Worth mentioning that the owners are really helpful and easy to reach, wifi is available and the TV has a dedicated Netflix button ;)
Gorgeous cosy cottage.
We enjoyed our stay at Bridgnorth. The cottage was cosy and warm. The location is peaceful and just a short walk to the cliff railway or steps up to the high town. Me and my husband and my mom met up with relatives from Telford and also went to Ironbridge(Blists hill Victorian village)and Shrewsbury.Everything we needed was included in the cottage and Lucy even let us stay until the recovery people picked up our vehicle which had broken down just before we were due to travel home.Double bedroom was larger than it looked on photos with loads of wardrobe space.Would recommend.
Trip down memory lane
Great cottage we just left the car at the cottage and walked every where also used steam trains of which my husband is a steam man so nice not having to drive
Just loved catching up with the area
Thank you for your kind comments and for looking after the house very well during your stay, it is a lovely area with so much character and things to do. With Bridgnorth being fairly hilly with all the lovely narrow cobbled streets we are just a sea-side away from Cornwall!
Bridgnorth Character Cottage
Beautiful cottage right in the heart of town.
Thanks Anthony, glad you enjoyed your stay !
Quaint, Well Appointed Cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at Severn Steps Cottage. A quaint, well kept property with views to the rear overlooking the River Severn. Comfy furnishings and well appointed kitchen. Off road parking to the front of the property. Short walk into town and easy access to the Cliff Railway. We will definitely be paying a return visit. Excellent communications from the owners. Highly Recommended.
