Bridgnorth is a delightful market town with plenty of shops, bars, eateries, antique shops, banks etc. and is also home to the Severn Valley Railway and the start of a wonderful trip along the River Severn by canoe. Cartway itself is in the most historic part of Bridgnorth and was once home to some 50 public houses of which only the Black Boy still remains and is very popular with locals and tourists alike. There is much to see and do in the local area including The West Midlands Safari Park, Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Ludlow Castle, Dudmaston Hall, Bliss Hill and The Black Country Living Museum. Horse riding is available a few miles away, canoe trips and steam railway trips are on your doorstep, walking in the surrounding countryside is a pleasure and there are also plans to open an indoor water park and swim centre at West Midlands Safari Park in nearby Bewdley. Highley is just a few miles drive from Bridgnorth and there you will find a golf course, and an excellent Leisure Centre with an open air swimming pool, Highley can also be accessed by steam train. There are also great Golf courses at Cleobury Mortimer, Bewdley, and Kidderminster. All this is there for you of course if you can drag yourself away from Bridgnorth itself where you will not be short of entertainment as there are many excellent places to dine or purchase takeaway food, a wonderful twice weekly market and lots of shops to browse through in a wonderful cliff side setting above the River Severn.
Please note that a minimum of a full week booking, commencing on a Saturday is required for Whit Week, August 4th to 18th and October half term.
