A beautiful village nestled on the Roseland Peninsular, Portscatho is a charming coastal village offering all you could wish for in a holiday destination by the sea. The pretty village has a choice of cafes, good pubs and lovely galleries for you to enjoy. There is a local shop for all your convenience food plus a nearby farm shop selling fruit, veg, cheese, plus freshly caught fish and seafood. In Portscatho there is also an excellent butchers. You certainly don’t need to travel far to find all you need. However, should you fancy a day out, Truro is only 9 miles away via the scenic King Harry Ferry crossing at Philleigh. The busy cathedral town offers a range of high street shops, plus many restaurants, bars and cafes if you fancy a day out discovering the old town and a visit to the beautiful cathedral.
If walking is your thing then the South West Coast Path passes right through the village, providing an ideal route to get the most out of the scenery. If you take the cliff path north of Portscatho you will find Porthcurnick beach. At low tide, this beach has acres of flat sand, perfect for games of cricket, but you might have to wade a fair way to get a decent swim!. It is a National Trust owned beach and toilet facilities are available. Further east still are Carne beach and Pendower beach which at low tide join to form an even bigger expanse of sand where dogs are allowed all year round.
If all that fresh air has built up an appetite, there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat.
The Hidden Hut cafe is a special place for “those in the know!” – you literally can’t get much closer to the sea whilst enjoying a hot cup of tea and cake. They offer a tantalising array of baked goods together with some super healthy hot meals and salads. It’s a hidden gem that people travel far to find, yet its position on the local beach of Porthcurnick means its just a 15 minute walk from the property.
Activities such as golf and horse riding can all be found only a short drive away, plus the numerous local beaches offer plenty of choice for great family days out.
Snipe Cottage has the perfect combination of being close to all that Portscatho has to offer yet still retaining a feel of privacy and peace. With stunning views from all rooms, it’s a fabulous property, lovingly taken care of by the owners, who have thought of everything to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible.
Outside the cottage:
There is the large decking area leading off from the sitting room providing fabulous coastal views out to sea and along to Porthcurnick beach. Comfortable outdoor furniture is provided and the terrace has a childproof gate, with steps leading down to the lawned area which has a small dog proof fence surrounding it.
Car parking for one car with additional parking space available in the local car park only a short walk from the cottage.
