peaceful and quiet
This cabin certainly fit our needs. beds were comfortable. nice fireplace. fully stocked kitchen. very much enjoyed our stay
Thank you Lynda, we enjoyed having you stay with us and hope to see you again in the future.
The cabin is secluded and has good accessibility to the forest. Internet availability would be helpful.
Nice area, maintenance needed
The cabin is rustic and is in a scenic meadow with trees all around. The facilities are adequate, but many maintenance chores need to be completed. The cabin is near the lake and restaurants. The Blue Spruce at the end of the lake are beautiful.
There was only minimum baseboard heating. A standalone heater had been supplied, but with it running the circuit breakers kept tripping, which cut off electricity to the whole cabin. So it was not usable. If we had not had a smaller heater to bring in, we would have been without much heat. As it was, 64 degrees was the warmest we could get it at night.
The 2 decks were nice to sit out on enjoying the surroundings. Wood was supplied for the fireplace, which we enjoyed building a fire in at night. The golden Aspen this time of the year were spectacular.
Even though the description of the cabin includes Internet, there was no Internet available. We did have Verizon cell service which enabled us to use our Hotspot for Internet connection.
It was a pleasure meeting this couple and I enjoyed talking to them on several occasions during their stay.
I am sorry to hear that the heating situation was not adequate. The ownership of this cabin has changed hands recently, and the new owner is planning some upgrades which I'm sure will include more electrical capacity to be able to handle additional heat sources.
We welcome all "complaints/suggestions" as it helps us to continually improve our properties.
Bear Paw Lodge
Quiet and secluded.
Beautiful setting and location! Property needs a little TLC.
Cozy and private
More than a cabin, this is a small house perched on a private parcel near the lake. Peaceful setting. Forest and mountain views. Front and back decks. Fire pit next to the house good for evening fires. Inside has all the necessities, albeit in a rustic, cabin style - kitchen, micro, fridge, washer/dryer, bathroom with shower, dining area, living room, kids 2 bedroom and a loft with queen bed. There's an interior fireplace and a TV/stereo with DVDs. The structure itself is starting to show its age with some sloping floors and worn parts, but the overall experience is super. There is an ATV rental outfit nearby so from time to time you'll hear them zooming off, but it's not a big deal. The owner was nice and helpful with information and service throughout our stay. Recommended.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The information provided on the cabin was accurate. It was clean and had all the utensils we needed to cook our own food. There were several light bulbs burnt out or missing, please check that.
Our only concern was there was no internet (and it is advertised as having internet). There is a land line phone but it is not connected. So since we had no cell phone service we were cut off. That may be acceptable to some people but I needed to connect with family back home so I was not happy to not have internet. We had to connect when we went into Durango for our day trips. (Please change your advertisement to let people know there is no internet.)
We enjoyed our train ride from Durango to Silverton and back. Great views! And we loved our river rafting. We also took a horseback ride right near the cabin. Lots to do.
We do apologize for the burned out light bulbs, as you can imagine it is a constant battle to keep up with all of the different light fixtures in all of the cabins and vacation homes that we manage. We will commit to being more vigilant about that task.
As for the advertised internet in the cabin... We had all of the settings on the website set up accurately, but at some point the website (algorithms ???) reset themselves to the default settings, and we did not catch it until now. We will certainly update those settings again, and keep an eye on them to make sure that they do not reset again.
There is actually quite good cell phone coverage in the valley depending on which carrier you are with. Verizon has the best coverage, and AT&T is also good. However, some of the other cell phone carriers are not as well represented.
We are happy that our guests enjoyed their stay otherwise, and hope that they will come back again.
