Two-bedroom budget apartment with king-size and two single beds -or another king

This is a really central London apartment, yet very low priced, in a quiet, pretty 'mews' (cobbled London street) which has a real feel of London history.

* Perfect if you're flying in to Heathrow - it's on the direct Tube train line from Heathrow.

* Brilliant if you want to be right in the centre - it is within easy walking distance of London's tourist sites

* Convenient if you want plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants close by - The Brunswick shopping mall is just around the corner

* Ideal for morning arrivals - bagdrop is from 11am

* Also ideal for late arrivals - after midnight is not a problem

* Easy to reach for arrivals at St Pancras on the Eurostar or ThamesLink train (for Gatwick or Luton arrivals). From St Pancras it's just an 10 minute walk away down a straight road, or one stop on the Tube.

There is very reliable and fast internet and of course we offer free wifi !

Our apartment is one of the very few "budget category" apartments to be right in the heart of Central London. It is round the corner from the British Museum, and is within walking distance of most of the tourist sights such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Theatreland, Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and the London Eye. It's in a great area - there are plenty of cafe's and restaurants just a few minute's walk away, and a choice of three supermarkets around the corner.

The apartment is in the "budget category" because the sitting room is small and because it is in an historic building so the bathroom and kitchen facilities are not new - but are perfectly adequate. So you don't get 'swanky' but you don't get 'costly' either!

The apartment is on the first floor of the building (in the UK that means up one flight of stairs). The interior has lots of character, and has a beautiful original oak floor throughout. Our traditional sash windows (typical of London) let in loads of light and add to the character.

There are two good-sized double bedrooms. One bedroom has a king size brass bed while the other bedroom has two single beds. We can make this up as a king size too, on request. If there are five guests we can also provide a folding bed suitable for a child or small adult ( under 130 lbs) which can be placed alongside the two single beds - ideal if you have three youngsters.

We have chosen lovely beds and high quality mattresses, good linens, soft Egyptian cotton towels and stylish furnishings, so you will have everything you require to get a hotel level of sleeping comfort. All bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe space, bedside tables and lamps. We also provide a soft bath robe and a choice of pillows.

The apartment has a main living room, containing the sitting area, kitchenette, and dining area. The sitting area may be small but it's cosy with three-seater sofa, and satellite TV. Please note, if you are a larger group and all want to watch TV together you may need to use the dining chairs as well as the sofa.

The dining table is extendable so it can be used small if there are just two or three guests, or it can be pulled out to seat up to five. There are five dining chairs.

The small kitchenette is very well equipped so that if you want to self-cater you can cook to your heart's content! We have provided plenty of attractive white crockery, serving dishes, nice glassware and loads of pans, cutlery and utensils. There is a microwave, kettle, cafetiere (french press), teapot, toaster, fridge, a washing machine and a separate tumble dryer.

The flat is well heated with a very efficient gas central heating system. In summer it has the advantage of windows on either side, which provide a good flow of air. We also provide tall freestanding room fans in summer.

We provide free wifi and the broadband signal is strong, reliable and super fast.

This flat offers excellent value for money, especially for families or two couples.

Our location, on an historic London 'mews' street, has loads of history and character. Because this is a narrow cobblestoned street it has no through traffic, so it's astonishingly quiet for a place to stay which is right in the centre of a city.

Bloomsbury is famous for its garden squares and mews, making it one of the most expensive residential areas in the centre of London. It was just the same centuries ago, when the wealthy intellectuals chose Bloomsbury as THE place to live. Charles Dickens and J M Barrie (Peter Pan) lived just around the corner from the apartment, while Virginia Woolf, Charles Darwin, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Lytton Strachey, and John Maynard Keynes lived in some of the squares nearby. Even Gandhi chose Bloomsbury for his home during his time in London. This is a place that is steeped in history, and you will see many blue plates on the sides of houses as you walk around the streets, telling you who lived there.

The mews still has the original cobblestones while the properties along its length are built from the mellow London brick, characteristic of the 1800's. The residents tend to have huge urns of flowers and window boxes to decorate their homes.

Bloomsbury is also the perfect central area from which to explore London. Please do Google it. You can easily walk to so many tourist sights, and because the Tube station is so close it's really convenient. Our apartment is particularly close to Covent Garden (for the shops and restaurants) and to Theatre land if you fancy a London show. The British Museum is just a short walk. Nowhere is far away, so even if you take a taxi back it will be a short journey and therefore it will not be expensive.

The other big difference between our apartments and many others are the personal touches we offer. We are not a rental company, just an English couple who adore London and enjoy introducing others to all it has to offer. We have carefully furnished and decorated the apartment to this high standard because we really want our guests to have a fantastic time - happy guests mean more to us than high profits. So unlike some apartments, you will not find cheap beds, cheap mattresses, hard pillows...or any of the other horrors you can find with the squeeze-every-penny-of-profit apartment rental companies. We pride ourselves on giving a very friendly, helpful and professional service. We want you to feel you made exactly the right choice!

Why Jan chose Bloomsbury

I love mews streets and I love history. If I go abroad and need to find somewhere to stay I would much rather choose a place with some historical interest, some sense of character, than choose a bland hotel. These apartments are definitely not bland!

What makes this apartment unique

The street is quiet yet it's right in the centre so that you can walk to see the sights. That's pretty rare in Central London Also we only charge a modest price because the interior of each flat is not brand new and the living area is fairly tight for space. So it's a good compromise if you really want to be central but can't afford the high prices of other 'swanky' apartments.

Great cozy apartment

I would definitely recommend staying at this property. It is in a great location and within walking distance of many things. It is tucked away on a quiet little street with everything you need within minutes. We had 3 adults and 2 kids staying and we managed fine with the space. Jan provides everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Perfect London base

The apartment was small but a perfect home base for our family of 4. Excellent location just 2-3 minutes walk to the Underground Russell Square stop. Our host was also very responsive. We would stay here again!

Great location for exploring London

This apartment was the perfect base for exploring London. The location was amazing--great access to underground and buses, plus central enough to walk to many sights as well. At the same time, you are in a neighborhood that doesn't feel touristy and that is near pubs, cafes, and restaurants. There are also multiple grocery stores nearby. The living area of the apartment is small (as advertised) but if you are spending most of your daytime out and about, that's not really an issue. Everything was very clean and functional and our family (2 adults and 2 children) was very comfortable. We particularly appreciated the washer and dryer which meant we could do laundry before leaving for the second leg of our trip outside London. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Great little find

We loved staying at this apartment. It was right around the corner from an underground stop plus restaurants and shopping were both very close. The underground line is the Piccadilly line which made travel to and from the airport super convenient. The apartment also had a binder with helpful information including favorite restaurants and pubs, directions to the grocery store, and top things to visit. The apartment is cozy but our family of four were comfortable in the space especially since we spent most of our time out and about in London.

We stopped at the grocery store just around the corner to pick up a few things for breakfast when we first arrived. Jan had the apt already stacked with plates and cups, tea, dish soap, body wash, all the little things that you need in the morning but don't remember because you are too tired from traveling. It was so nice the next morning to wake and find all those things ready for you.

Thank you for letting us spend our holiday in London in your wonderful place.

Great, cozy Russell Square apartment

We (a family of 4, with two younger children) loved our stay here. Very conveniently located, near the British Museum, Charles Dickens House, and not far from Covent Garden. Yet, on a quaint, quiet cobble-stone street. The apartment is cozy, but perfect for busy tourists. Everything you would want is there - two bedrooms, an equipped kitchen, dining room table, washer, dryer. All in all, a great stay, exactly as described. Would visit again gladly!

Well located and well kept

Apt #9 is neat and clean and well stocked with essentials, such as coffee, tea, dish soap, etc. It is right behind Russell Square underground, a couple of blocks to RS park, and near Brunswick shopping center. There is also easy access to buses, and it isn't hard to get a taxi, either. There is a wealth of places to visit in the Bloomsbury / Russell Square area, too.

The apt is "cozy." But having clothes washer and dryer in the apt is a favorite of ours! Stairs, no elevator, to main floor.

Jan seems to keep a close eye on things. We never met her in our 9 day stay, but from her clear rental agreement, and detailed notebook for the apt, I think she pays attention to the details.

We'd say it is a solid mid-range apartment. There were four of us renting it, and we had all stayed previously in the Bloomsbury area. If you are traveling with children, it is just around the corner from Coram's Field park and playground, where adults who visit must be accompanied by a child.

We are very close to Covent Garden with all its theatres and the Opera House.

We are also just a very short walk from Charles Dickens house, now a fascinating museum.
