Why Pasquale chose Massa Lubrense
My father reading us a book about the charm of the recovery of an old villa in Tuscany and the inheritance of an historic farmhouse in 2000 immersed in an ancient luxuriant lemon grove of Massa Lubrense, home of my Father, are the two events that brought me together with my father and my brother to develop the project: "La Ciucciara" Holiday Home. Over the past fifteen years, this project has been carried on and since April 2017 La Ciucciara started its activity, giving guests the opportunity to experience a unique and unforgettable experience. A special thanks goes to my grandparents, Pasquale and Immacolata, for giving us this property rich in charm and history.

Beatiful views and quaint town
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Ciucciara in Massa Lubrense. The views from the terrace outside our apartment were beautiful, and the town itself was very quaint... The apartment itself was very clean and more than adequate for our party of 4 people... Maria, the staff member we mainly dealt with, was extremely helpful and very accommodating. We had a problem with lost luggage, and she was very helpful in working with the airport to try to locate it. She even offered to meet us in Pompei with the luggage if it arrived at the apartment after we left. That's what I call going above and beyond!!! She helped us work out our transportation from Massa Lubrense to tour Pompei and ultimately to Naples, where we were getting a train back to Florence. While we loved the apartment, I can't say enough about how helpful Maria was. She truly helped make the experience that much better... I have no reservations in recommending this property, especially because of the customer service provided... Truly a great experience...
Fantastic view and great property manager
Although we have traveled widely, this was our first time using VRBO. It certainly met and in many ways exceeded our expectations.
The apartment is on the 3rd floor of a charming 19th century stone house. Both the bedroom and the combined living room / dining room / kitchenette are good size - ideal for a couple but perhaps too tight for a larger group. The kitchen has a dorm size fridge and a 2 burner stove but no microwave. It is fine for breakfast, lunch or snacks but not so much for serious cooking. There is a private terrace off the bedroom and a shared terrace off the living room (although we had the space to ourselves throughout our 5 day stay). Best of all is the view - across the Bay of Naples to Capri in one direction and to Vesuvius in the other.
The property manager (Pasquale?) was great. He was on site every day, generally from 8am to 8pm and went out of his way to be helpful. He hauled our luggage up and down a fairly short but very steep cobblestone path from the bus stop in the main square ( about 100 yards up the cliff ) to the property and was a great source of info and recommendations. He gave us copies of train and bus and ferry schedules and loaned us an English guidebook to Pompei. Best of all, he arranged for us to dine at a great restaurant, Da Michele. Since the restaurant is a substantial hike down the cliff to waterside, he arranged for the restaurant owner's daughter to drive us to and from the restaurant for free. The meal was excellent. My wife and I shared 4 courses and the bill including beer and wine was 55 euros.
There are 2 markets ( Conad and Despar) within a 5 minute walk of the property. A restaurant in the main square (2 minutes walk) is a good place for pizza and salads. There are also at least 2 gelaterias in or near the main square.
Massa Lubrense is a good basis for exploring the region. From ML's central square it is a 15-20 minute bus ride (2 euros) to Sorrento centro where one can get a train to Pompei (30 minutes) or a bus to Positano (50 minutes) or a ferry to Capri (30 minutes). The bus and train are very inexpensive (a few euros); the ferry to Capri is not (38 euros roundtrip) but well worth it. Parts of Capri are crowded and touristy but the island is very small and it is very easy to find quiet and uncongested areas in which to wander and admire the beautiful vistas.
We loved our stay at La Ciucciara. It is in a great location near the Massa Lubrense main square where it is easy to catch a short bus ride into Sorrento. The apartment was everything we hoped for. It is very comfortable, clean and the views are amazing. Pasquale, the manager, was so friendly and helpful; he made our stay even nicer. We hope to be able to "come back to Sorrento".
We were very unfortunate to not be able to enjoy this beautiful place. We were scheduled to stay for 3 days and enjoy a part of Italy that we have yet to experience. Unfortunately my husband was hospitalized in Florence for 4 days which coincided with our scheduled dates. I am sure we would have loved staying here.
Very charming accommodations nestled in the rolling countryside.
Very comfortable for two couples traveling through Italy. Car was too big for the "driveway" but Giuseppe was very helpful in getting us settled, recommending restaurants and general knowledge of the area. Kitchen in our unit was sparse but there was also a main floor common kitchen that was available but we were out most of the time and really didn't need it. Loved the bedroom balcony and terrace views. Quiet, clean, picturesque. Brief walk to the village includes stairs and modest hills.
Amazing views of the Mediterranean and Capri
We (2 adults and 2 teenage boys) traveled to many areas of Italy and this was our favorite lodging and location. The views from the patio just outside our room were indescribably beautiful. Out the door from the master bedroom was a private patio with views of Mt. Vesuvius and out the living area was a large patio with the breathtaking views of Capri. The accommodations were great and Pasquale was the perfect host giving great advice on the area, restaurants with local food and best of all organizing an incredible cruise around Capri for our family. Skip Sorrento and head a few kilometers south to Massa Lubrense for a great holiday with Pasquale! TS USA June 2017
La Ciucciara is located in the historic center of Massa Lubrense, a quiet and charming town located on the tip of the Sorrento Peninsula just a few kilometers from Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and all the other famous resorts of the Amalfi and Sorrento Coast. La Ciucciara is a short walk from the Largo Vescovado, the main square of Massa Lubrense, where there are bus stops for Sorrento, the beaches and other places along the Sorrento and Amalfi coasts with very frequent connections.
