Reccently renovated, Thornbank Cottage is a cosy semi-detached cottage dating from the 1760's in the heart of the historic Borders village of Coldingham on the Berwickshire coast. Our home is a perfect place for a family holiday or for a group of friends to explore one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland.
The cottage has been recently refurbished to a high standard and is warm and comfortable with double glazing, underfloor heating, radiators and a log burning stove in the sitting room.
Upstairs there is accommodation for four guests in two bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and one with two single beds. There is also a new bathroom with bath and power shower.
Downstairs is a sitting room with log burning stove and smart TV, with Freesat. Comfortable sofas seat six. After a hard day at the beach or rambling along the coast or inland you can relax with a film, a family board game or keep up to date with friends and family through the Wifi internet. The kitchen / dining room is fully equipped, including fridge freezer, oven and grill, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine plus a dining table for up to six guests.
There is also a south facing sun-room, with chaise longue, arm chairs and a beanbag. This room leads to the secluded south facing patio garden with seating for outdoor eating and relaxing. The rear garden has a shed and storage area for bikes or for cleaning wetsuits or surfboards. At the front is a sunny garden and there is also off street parking.
All linen and towels are provided, but you should bring your own towels for the beach. There are also the basics you need to cater for yourselves such as olive oil, salt and pepper, flour, pasta, kitchen roll, toilet paper etc. All we ask is that you replace anything you use.
If you would like to have groceries delivered to the cottage after you have arrived, then Sainsburys, Asda and Tesco all deliver. So, just order your shopping on line and it will arrive while you are settling in.

The cottage was Lovely, and was spotless and the owners communication was really good with quick responses so definitely recommend a stay here, it was just a shame we picked a very very cold weekend ( 16th to 17th of feb ) so we didn’t get to do much with all the snow and bitter cold wind. Would be a great base in the summer for walks and cycling and the beach is just down the road .
Thanks for the review, Gillian. It's a shame that it was so cold that weekend - the winter seems to go on and on! There is lots to do in the area and the coastline is beautiful and is wonderful to explore.
Cosy cottage in a great location
Lovely location, cosy, comfortable and very well equipped house. We really enjoyed our stay.
Delighted that you had a lovely time and you found the cottage a cosy place to stay.
Thanks for the review.
all the best
Fab cottage! Immaculate!
We stayed at the cottage for 2 nights, my husband and I along with our 3 year old. First impressions were good! The cottage is immaculate! Great size. Kitchen is lovely and so well equipped. In fact generally the cottage itself is very well equipped and all seems new. Another plus is it is child friendly, so fab for families. The 2 bedrooms are great, again immaculate. Bed linen fresh, clean and tasteful. Beds very comfortable. Would recommend staying here definitely! Milda the owner was great with communication and answered all questions promptly, just the peace of mind your after when booking something your unfamiliar with. Would highly recommend! Thanks again Milda! We had a fab stay in your lovely cottage x
Thanks for this review Lee. I'm delighted that you and your family had a lovely time and I hope you feel relaxed after your break away.
Beautiful cottage, clean, spacious, homely...perfect! Would highly recommend and stay again!
The cottage has been an ideal base for us during our stay. The place was immaculate, bigger than expected and very homely. Ideally situated from Berwick train station so easy access to Edinburgh but surrounding towns lovely too. Would definitely stay again and recommend to everyone
Thanks so much for the review. Delighted that the cottage provided a comfortable base for your break away.

Loved the cottage, got everything you could need, lovely balance of modern convenience and old world charm.
Milda was super responsive during the booking and the stay. Can't recommend the cottage enough. Did the lovely walk to St Abbs and then down to Eyemouth - lovely part of the world.
Great value for money and a great retreat from the city.
Hi Jaimie - thanks for the review and I'm delighted that you had a lovely time at the cottage and enjoyed the coastal walks. It is a stunning coastline at any time of year.

Coldingham grew up around the 12th Century Priory and is one of the prettiest villages in Scotland. Within a few minutes’ walk from the cottage are two friendly pubs. The village also has a café, a Spar convenience store, a butchers and post office with tourist information facilities. About a mile from the cottage is Coldingham Bay, which is well known for its surfing. From there walkers can join the Berwickshire Coast Path and the John Muir Way. Also close by is the port of St Abbs, a haven for diving, sea-fishing, boating and bird watching. Near to Coldingham is the beautiful Berwickshire coast and Scottish Borders for historic sightseeing, world famous golf courses and salmon and trout fishing. Finally, Edinburgh is only an hour away!
