About Laura Hassell
I am an Urban Forester and Landscape Designer specializing in sustainable design. My family and I live between northern Virginia and Page county. We purchased this house as a retreat from city life.
Laura Hassell purchased this Farmhouse in 2013
Why Laura Hassell chose Luray
We love the location, secluded yet so close to downtown Luray and the great Shenandoah National Park. We love a challenge, and being fairly handy we have enjoyed the process of renovating an old house.

If you're looking for a great spot to get away from the city for a few days, explore Luray and the surrounding areas and simply unplug...this is your spot! Very nice house that's been tastefully upgraded, sitting on a great patch of land with plenty of room to roam or relax to your heart's content! Very clean and plenty big for a family of 5!
Beautiful home in great location
The house is charming and a great location near Shenandoah National Park, Luray Caverns and the town of Luray. The house is well stocked with books (including a book we used to research the trails in the park), games, DVDs. The shower is small, but the bedrooms are comfortable, and there is plenty of room in the kitchen/dining/living rooms. We had a wonderful time here! Would stay here again.
Charming, clean, well located and wonderfully cozy house
Lovely week spent at Laura’s beautiful and stylish home. She was always super responsive to any questions we had and the property is just lovely. Spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. Ten minutes to Thornton gap entrance of Shenandoah NP so very convenient. Just remember to bring plenty of bug spray. It’s a beautiful green rural setting and in the humidity this week the biters had a party with us. Thoroughly recommend this property.
Great location for visiting Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park
Our family really enjoyed staying here for our spring break.
Very comfortable farmhouse
We enjoyed so much about this farmhouse. It is very clean, three people could cook in the kitchen, we spent every evening talking around the dining room table, the bedrooms are comfortable, the views from the second floor are spectacular, it was fun sitting on the front porch and watching the lights come on, and we even played fooz ball. It is a very comfortable, comforting home.
It is close to Shenandoah NP. We were also pleasantly surprised by how interesting Luray Caverns are.
The upstairs shower probably needs a new door, but the water pressure and temperature were good.
It was hard to leave.
As advertised, very responsive owner
Had a great Thanksgiving holiday here.
Place is great for a family. Shower is a bit strange/small, but otherwise perfect house for a getaway.
Porches and back yard/field are awesome, everything in the house was well kept and clean. Nice kitchen and dining area. Great location just down the hill from Skyline Drive.
