This bright, spacious two bed apartment is located in a popular family complex in the Vera district of south eastern Spain. Just a 5 minute walk from the wide sandy beaches of Vera Playa - and with the saw-toothed peaks of the Sierra Nevada as a backdrop - this apartment mixes the best of a relaxing sun, sea and sand holiday with an authentic flavour of Spain's Mediterranean coast.
The well-maintained low-rise complex is set in immaculate subtropical gardens and features 2 beautiful swimming pools (seasonal opening May to September). Just strolling around the immediate vicinity of Puerto Rey, you'll find authentic Spanish bars serving tapas and wherever you are, you'll catch
Nearby facilities are another outstanding feature of the immediate area: Just across the road from the apartment's back garden is a the Club Deportivo, a tennis centre with a dozen courts, well kitted out fitness room and golf driving range. The centre also has plenty to keep the kids occupied with crazy golf, bouncy castles and go-karting on the expansive lawns that sit out back of the relaxing palm shaded family bar, restaurant and terrace. Above is a stylish pan-Asian restaurant serving a tasty mix of Thai, Japanese and Chinese dishes.
A mile down the road - and walkable along the beach - is Aqua Vera, a water park with slides and facilities for kids of all ages, which is definitely worth a day out.
Wide expansive beaches run for miles along this coast with beautiful, clear azure water perfect for swimming.

Parking: free street parking is available opposite the apartment just outside the Club Deportivo. Spaces are always available.
A mile down the road is a friendly, well-stocked supermarket with everything from fresh seafood and fruit and veg to frozen foods and your favourite toiletries. The supermarket staff speak both Spanish and English and there is a delivery option available online. In the complex there is a shop supplying essentials, daily pastries and bread, wine and beer etc as well as a friendly cafe/ bar on site where you can buy ice cream and more.
Club Deportivo Puerto Rey - just opposite the apartment. The relaxing, subtropical terrace bar set amidst dozens of palm trees is perfect for families and serves a wide selection of dishes.
Chiringuito de Vera Playa: down on the beach are a selection of semi-permanent bar restaurants that are open Easter to October. Reserve a table for lunch and you won't be disappointed. The seafood here is exquisite and the buzz at late lunchtime as Spanish families sit down to eat together is not to be missed. Sun loungers are available just outside for 5 euros per day (price correct as of summer 2016), perfect for that post-lunch lie down.
Lua Puerto Rey: a 15 minute walk north along the beach, this stylish bar and restaurant with large outdoor area and pool is a great place to grab a drink and grab some delicious free tapas with every round!
Millionaires Bar: a 10-15 minute walk towards Garrucha. Enjoy a more British ambience in this bar serving a taste of home with a terrace and fantastic view over the beach.
The area is perfect mix of charming typically-Spanish towns and villages, pretty harbour and port and a relaxing beach front vibe.
Garrucha: A charming fishing & port town a mile or so south west along the beach, Garrucha is well worth a visit. Enjoy an evening walking along the palm-lined promenade by the harbour, with its multitude of outdoor restaurants serving delicious locally caught seafood. The town has a typically Spanish communal feel as families and people of all ages venture out to enjoy the balmy evenings. In summer, the beach at Garrucha - the only "in-town" blue flag beach in Europe - has a semi-permanant water park with massive slides and inflatables that is fun for adults and children alike. Market day is Friday.
Vera: Head into central Vera for a real slice of southern Spain. Walk the cobbled streets of the old town and sit in the shady squares sipping a cerveza and watching the world go by. Market days are Thursday and Saturday when stalls line the streets which throng with locals and tourists alike.
Mojacar (pronounced Mo-ha-ka): Situated the old town offers spectacular views over the down to the glinting Mediterranean.
Market day is Wednesday.
Mojacar Playa: a mix of traditional Spanish and English bars and restaurants where you can find everything from a Full English to Spanish Paella.
For those who like a drive, there are two beautiful - and spectacular drives - along the coast in both directions. Head north east along the coastal road to San Juan de los Terreros, a larger port town with a wide promenade and sandy beach, with a harbour and fantastic streets full of shops. In the other direction is Carboneras, another town nestled on the coast at the foot of where the Sierra Nevada meet the Mediterranean meets the sea. The 45 minute drive there, along the winding coastal road with spectacular vistas is worth it.
