Fantastic and relaxing lodge

  • 5 of 5

This place is amazing and this definately won’t be my last stay. We stayed over Hogmanay and New Year and it was perfect. The lodge is very well equipped and the thoughtful owners had provided Christmas decorations and a welcome bottle of wine, which was indeed very welcome! It has everything you need, is beautifully presented and well laid out. It also has great broadband/WiFi which is fantastic when the weather isn’t behaving itself. It’s warm, cosy and includes everything you could need - and then some! Great enclosed garden area makes it easy to let the dog out and we loved the bird feeders outside - even had a woodpecker pitching up every morning for a feed.

The site itself is quiet but close enough to Dumfries to not feel too remote. The lodge really did feel like a home from home and helped us have a wonderfully relaxing few days before the end of the holidays. I really can’t recommend Lapwing Lodge highly enough. Thank you Alison

Tranquil, very well equipped chalet lodge

  • 5 of 5

Was very impressed by all aspects of this booking. Welcomed by owners who fully explained where everything was and it had all we needed to make it very comfortable and relaxing. Lovely setting near to woods but not too remote. Coastline also close by for more exploring of this beautiful part of the world....we are shortly due to move to, so possibly a bit biased! Would not hesitate to recommend and would look to return once messy work takes place on our own new home, which will be quite local. Thank you Maureen & Chuck - if only more holiday rentals were up to your high standards.

Beautiful peaceful lodgr

  • 5 of 5

This is in a great location between Dumfries and Dalbeattie, with lots of beautiful walks and lochs to see. The lodge is very clean, with all appliances that you need including washer and drier, enclosed garden which was great for the dog! The lodge was fully equipped and even had plenty of DVD's available to watch, books and games. Margaret and her husband met us and showed us how to work everything, couldn't of asked for better service or lodge. Will deffinately return for a peaceful weekend.
