About Brenda Howard
My husband and I are Interior Designers based in Alderley Edge in the heart of Cheshire. We first visited Duquesa in 2002 after the birth of our last child, we have 5 children ranging from 13-27 and 3 dogs. We fell in love with Duquesa the first time we visited, as did our children who still accompany us on holidays with friends as there is something for everyone. When we bought our apartment we were offered a furniture package which was uninspirational. This is why we built all of our own furniture in our workshop in Cheshire, supplied all accessories and had them shipped over to Spain.
Why Brenda Howard chose Manilva
We bought the apartment in 2014 because we fell in love with Duquesa when we first visited in 2002. The surroundings are lovely with beautiful beaches that are uncrowded.

We loved the apartment. Clean, tastefully decorated, gorgeous view, comfortable.
Excellent apartment with fantastic views
Stayed for 3 weeks in March/April 2019 and could not fail to be pleased with the apartment which was very tastefully decorated. It was equipped very well and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Very convenient underground car parking and lift to apartment. Would certainly want to book it again. Owners are very helpful.
Fabulous location, beautifully decorated and well equipped for a home away from home!
We spent 3 weeks at this unit and as time progressed, some issues did arise.
1) Of initial note was a sewage odour in the master bathroom, which appeared to be a broken seal at the base of the toilet (which we specifically mentioned) as there was continual wet seepage around the base and a lingering odour. We reported it to the owner and it was explained as local sewer issues that happen from 'time to time'. The second time we reported the smell to be continuing, we were told someone would be sent to look at it. Because of our length of stay, we requested a mid-term cleaning, at our expense. Cost was not a problem but we compared this cleaning to the state of the unit when we first arrived. The cleaners left the unit immaculate, leading us to the impression that the unit was not cleaned professionally for our arrival, as there was a fridge full of food which we had to dispose of, water splashes on bathroom mirrors, shower glass and kitchen surfaces. Incidentally, the cleaners showed up with a bottle of disinfectant, which seemed to be the response to the seepy toilet, as opposed to a plumber.
2) Being from North America, we are not familiar with the euro metre, which requires coins to be dropped in to keep the power running. Although the notes say it is to discourage use of AC and power usage while not in the unit, it indicates that there should be plenty to cover your stay so we never gave it another thought. Until the power went off at 2am at the end of two weeks and we were scrambling in the dark to find coins to get the power back on. Our stay was in Feb/March so no AC ever used, although we did need to have the heat on a couple of times. Since we had a week to go, we closely watched how we used the power. To our surprise, we noticed the clothes dryer was not drying, and discovered it works on the basis of extracting the water into a reservoir that needs to be emptied in order for the dryer to work properly. There were no notes about that in the binder of info about the apartment. The reservoir was full to the brim (maybe 6-8 litres) and when emptied, the appliance worked properly. Similar issue with vacuum cleaner - filters were clogged and it looked like it had never been emptied. We cleaned it out. We think the owners should have this unit professionally managed and use a checklist to ensure all these things are looked at before next guests arrive. We didn't come on vacation to do appliance maintenance.
Loved it ! Beautiful apartment, luxurious decor and extremely helpful owner!
We stayed in Duquesa Village a number of years ago and loved the complex as it's a quite location , with 24 hour security , great pool facilities etc so when it came to look for an apartment for this year we again looked here. I couldn't believe our luck at finding an apartment as luxurious as this, the pictures don't even do it full justice. It's pure luxury from the moment you step in the door, from the soft furnishings to the amazingly comfortable beds, right down to the aroma from the reed diffuser in the living room :) . Everything you could possibly want in an apartment is provided , it really is a home from home. The balcony was one of our favourite spots and the gorgeous decor even extends to this outdoor living space. The view of the sunrise over the sea every morning is stunning . Brenda is fantastic to deal with, I emailed her a number of times before our stay and once during our stay. I always got a prompt and helpful response right down to her recommendation for a local car hire company which worked out really well during our stay.
