Guestbook comments from the manager

Stayed at Stable Cottages over the New Year with another couple on a real spur of the moment whim and we couldn’t believe our luck to find that there had been a last minute cancellation and we got in. Not quite sure where to start, but perhaps with the cottage itself. Firstly, it’s HUGE, open and airy, but somehow cosy too. All he bedrooms are large and spacious and while admittedly the master bedroom with its ensuite and beautiful wooden vaulted ceiling with skylight is a gem, I would not have minded any of the other bedrooms either. All overlook the cobbled courtyard, and have the little things that mean so much such as proper bedside lights (the absence of which is a real personal bugbear), wonderfully comfortable beds and proper cotton sheets and feather pillows and duvets. The decor is of a really high standard, and the whole place is bright and fresh. I’m a bit of a wimp and had been worried that I’d be cold, but if you are going in winter, fear not, it’s wonderfully warm .. I don’t know how they do it in such a spacious property, but it’s positively toasty.

The kitchen is a great size with a stable door, table near the window, lovely wooden floor and is very well equipped with everything you need, from cheese graters to the all important cork screw. I’d never cooked on an Aga before, but there are great instructions/diagrams to hand and we all took it in turns cooking without the slightest problems; leading off is a large dining room which can be as formal or informal as you like, and flowing from there is a great sitting room with wonderful custom made doors opening out into the courtyard. We are hoping to go again in the summer and sit out there just enjoying the peace and quiet.

The location is perfect, with glimpses of the loch and the mountains, Balloch itself is only minutes away with an very convenient Co-Op which stays open until late and stocks just about everything you could need. Lots to do and see even nearby so it is as ideal for a long weekend as it is for a full holiday when you have time to explore further afield. All in all a definite 10 out 10 and worth a stay whatever the season. Oh, and a great music system too so don’t forget your iPod! “

Beautiful converted stables, excellent accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We were 6 in total, over for a family wedding at Boturich Castle. Couldn't have picked a better place to stay, everything was perfect. We had everything we needed and more, larder well stocked, plenty of crockery etc, nothing left out. The house is furnished with flair and is very comfortable.Should have stayed longer!

Wonderful spot

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 ranging from 10 years old to 80 years old all enjoyed our stay at this property. The home itself is charming and very well equipped. The AGA was a first for our family and we were fascinated (and now want one:-) We enjoyed walks through the surrounding area, horseback riding nearby, visiting the Highland Games, taking a boat ride and still were within easy reach the Glasgow airport for our departure home. All in all a great time. Would highly recommend. The owner reached out to be sure that we were comfortable and even left a welcome package.

Beautiful relaxing property

  • 5 of 5

Spent a wonderful Autumn week at Centre Stables. A great base which feels remote and is extremely peaceful and yet is only a 10 minute drive to all the amenities of Balloch town. The whole property has a welcoming, homely feel, is clean and the beds are very comfortable. Loved the country kitchen and the Aga. The kids loved the wi-fi, surround sound TV and the bedroom TVs with DVD capability. Would definitely re-visit as it is a great base to explore Loch Lomond and beyond and also has some wonderful walks and breathtaking views on the doorstep.

Great stay!

  • 4 of 5

We've had a great stay last August at The Stables. The house was very clean, spacious and well equipped. It was big enough for our group of 4 adults and 4 children.

The house is attached to the neighbors , but we did not find it bothersome in any way. The neighbors we spoke to are all very nice.

The only downside was that you could not walk to Balloch via a footpath or bridleway along side Loch Lomond. instead you have to follow the main road (not a busy road, but with 4 children a bit tricky) till Balloch Castle & Country Park. From there you can reach the lake and walk straight into Balloch. The walk takes around 40 minutes.

The location is excellent for visiting Glasgow (around 30 min drive) and the Highlands.

We would love to stay again and explore more of the surroundings!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for such a positive response, we are delighted that the property was suitable for your family's stay and needs during your trip to our wonderful area Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, our national park. Our neighbours are lovely, we enjoy our small exclusive location within Boturich castle estate. We agree that it would be pleasant to have a lochside stroll into Balloch, but there has never been a natural path. We do have the private castle drive to use and a short cut through the Balloch Country Park, which is pleasant in good weather and a very friendly taxi service for the return trip in required. Thank you so much for being such good guests and for caring for our property, it is indeed appreciated. Kindest Regards from all at Centre Stables Loch Lomond

A short but truly Scottish break

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed! - Wonderful warmth of an Aga greets you upon arrival - Beautifully clean and furnished with a modern Scottish feel - The bedrooms are all individually furnished and with crisp 'White Company' bed linen to slip in to - The lodge is extremely spacious and perfect accommodation for a large party. If you want to cook for yourselves the kitchen is well equiped with every thing you need - However if your preference is to eat out - there are plenty of local restaurants to choose from - I'm not normally an Indian food fan - However for Friday night fayre I can highly recommend The Massala Twist in Helensburgh - a small sea side town on The Clyde, which serves the most enormous naan breads and the best Tablet Ice Cream! There are plenty of walks to enjoy and plenty going on at Loch Lomond both on and off the Lake - As cyclists we took our own bikes - a challenging ride at times but so worth the breath taking views! Would love to return - A truly beautiful lodge!
