A spacious luxury house, having 4 bedrooms with amazing harbour views, where you can watch the sailing and the Fowey ferry bob to and fro on the river. The garden to the front is ideal for your morning coffee and river watching and to the back you can choose which level you would prefer, the higher up the better the view, this is where your alfresco dining will take place! Access to the property is not the easiest it is down some steps running along the side of the garden. Also approx six steps lead to the patio area just outside the kitchen. A large lounge diner is situated next to a well equipped modern kitchen. A large utility room is conveniently located in the courtyard with washing machine tumble dryer and a third wc. A very useful space for wet suits or bucket and spades. Upstairs are two large double rooms one can be a twin if preferred and a full size bunk bedded room. The family bathroom is on this floor with wc hand basin and bath. Then up a staircase to the next level there is a double room with en suite shower room and wc. Providence House is well placed for walking to the hub of this friendly village with its two pubs, tea rooms and village shop and bakery. The Quay is where you will catch the passenger ferry across to Fowey to enjoy the many restaurants and gallery's. At low tide we have two beaches 'front beach' just on the quay and also 'back beach' just to the side, all within a few minutes walking distance of the house. The world famous Eden Project, Looe and Polperro are all closeby or a little further afield you can visit Wadebridge, St Ives, Falmouth or Port Isaac where the popular Doc Martin series is filmed. This is a lovely area for rest and relaxation where the locals will welcome you, hire a boat for exploring the beauty the river has to offer. Enjoy an organised river or fishing trip. The South West Coast Path is just a few paces away as well as the Hall Walk with its beautiful scenery and wildlife. This is a special, unspoilt village in an area of outstanding beauty.

Beautiful property very spacious stunning views
Enjoyed our stay there. Everything thought of. Beautiful surroundings. Not good for elderly or infirm as lots of steep slopes and steps. Need to be fit lol
Fabulous house with amazing views
What a fabulous house - amazing views across the bay to Fowey, and everything thoughtfully provided. It was lovely to sit on the front patio and watch the boats in the evening, not to mention the lovely back garden with different seating areas, all with a view of the river. It is a steep climb up from the quay, and the two pubs, but worth it for the views. We enjoyed taking the little passenger ferry across to Fowey and also the car ferry from Fowey across to Bodinnick, where you can see 'Ferryside' the holiday home of Daphne du Maurier's family, where she wrote 'The Loving Spirit' based on the Slade shipbuilding family in Polruan. The figurehead of the Jane Slade adorns the front of the house, but is best seen from one of the river cruises, or by hiring a small motor boat from the quay in Fowey. This is a beautiful area with lots of walks and history. Great holiday.
Thank you Margaret for your lovely comments. It really is a special place to stay for a relaxing holiday with the fabulous views. We are glad you enjoyed exploring the area it certainly does have some beautiful scenery both by car and boat. As a point of interest they are setting up a community project to recreate Jane Slade a working, sailing schooner to be a low carbon cargo ship. It is going to be built here in Polruan using traditional and modern methods. The original was built here in 1870. The have a website janesladeproject.org for up to date information. We hope you will make a return visit one day soon!
Great house, immaculately presented
The house is great - spacious, warm and has all those little creature comforts that make it "home-from-home". And they work too. It's warm, (as was the welcome from Jane who gave us the key) and for those of you who want to, there is a brilliant log burner that really makes you feel good.
It's close to the harbour, which has a great pub, and the passenger ferry to Fowey. The walk up and down is what you'd expect in Cornwall - a steep incline!
all in all, very enjoyable.
Thank you for your kind comments, we hope you will be back again soon.
Thank you for your kind comments, we are really glad you enjoyed your stay at Providence House. The views really are amazing from the front terrace. Hope you had a good journey home. Kind regards Jane
