Great house, immaculately presented
The house is great - spacious, warm and has all those little creature comforts that make it "home-from-home". And they work too. It's warm, (as was the welcome from Jane who gave us the key) and for those of you who want to, there is a brilliant log burner that really makes you feel good.
It's close to the harbour, which has a great pub, and the passenger ferry to Fowey. The walk up and down is what you'd expect in Cornwall - a steep incline!
all in all, very enjoyable.
Thank you for your kind comments, we hope you will be back again soon.
Beautiful property very spacious stunning views
Enjoyed our stay there. Everything thought of. Beautiful surroundings. Not good for elderly or infirm as lots of steep slopes and steps. Need to be fit lol
Fabulous house with amazing views
What a fabulous house - amazing views across the bay to Fowey, and everything thoughtfully provided. It was lovely to sit on the front patio and watch the boats in the evening, not to mention the lovely back garden with different seating areas, all with a view of the river. It is a steep climb up from the quay, and the two pubs, but worth it for the views. We enjoyed taking the little passenger ferry across to Fowey and also the car ferry from Fowey across to Bodinnick, where you can see 'Ferryside' the holiday home of Daphne du Maurier's family, where she wrote 'The Loving Spirit' based on the Slade shipbuilding family in Polruan. The figurehead of the Jane Slade adorns the front of the house, but is best seen from one of the river cruises, or by hiring a small motor boat from the quay in Fowey. This is a beautiful area with lots of walks and history. Great holiday.
Thank you Margaret for your lovely comments. It really is a special place to stay for a relaxing holiday with the fabulous views. We are glad you enjoyed exploring the area it certainly does have some beautiful scenery both by car and boat. As a point of interest they are setting up a community project to recreate Jane Slade a working, sailing schooner to be a low carbon cargo ship. It is going to be built here in Polruan using traditional and modern methods. The original was built here in 1870. The have a website janesladeproject.org for up to date information. We hope you will make a return visit one day soon!
