Soak up the sun on wintry days in the warmth of the conservatory, or eat al-fresco meals on the patio before retiring to the stylish cosy living room. Stunning walks start straight from the door, including up to the Biskey Howe viewpoint above Bowness, from where the whole of Lake Windermere can be seen. Not only the birds want to build their nest at this place! All on one level it is a perfect base for anyone with walking difficulties or who can't manage stairs. The property has underfloor heating with additional fire in lounge and heater in the conservatory. Recently accredited with a 4* Visit Britain Award.

Notes on accommodation: Although peacefully secluded in its private gardens, The Bird's Nest lies only minutes' stroll from the lake shore village of Bowness. The lake is less than 15 minutes walk from the cottage. Fabulous! Outside: The gardens and patio are perfect for summery days eat al-fresco meals or BBQs! Or on wintry days sit in the warmth of the wonderful conservatory. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning is undertaken at the end of your stay, towels and linen are provided. Accommodation is to be left tidy on departure. A deposit is required to be paid at time of the booking and will be refunded in full depending on the Housekeepers findings. Other: A sophisticated dining room that's ideal for entertaining.

Peacefully situated well maintained Bungalow

Immaculately maintained bungalow with everything provided for your stay. The central heating was very efficient, and even in December, we were warm and cosy with the added bonus of a gas effect fire in the lounge. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay, it was truly 'home-from-home' and we will definitely return. The location was perfect - quiet with a secluded garden, but within walking distance to the lovely little town of Bowness which has direct access to the lake together with a range of shops, restaurants and supermarket. Windermere is just about a mile in the other direction where there is a Sainsbury's and other shops and restaurants. However, the bungalow is fully equipped to cook and self cater, should you wish, which we preferred. The little extras provided make such a difference - hand soap in the bathrooms, kitchen roll, cling film, foil and all those things you don't want to have to go out to buy for a week's stay. The washing machine and tumble drier was also appreciated, particularly when the weather is too wet to hang out washing!! I fully recommend this property for its facilities, location and convenience to explore the whole of the Lake District.

Delightful accomodation, ideal location,

super place has everything you need and more, ideal location for exploring windermere and nearby towns. we went with 2 young children and grandparents, plenty of room for everyone, comfortable and very clean too. welcome tray on arrival tea coffee biscuits and cake just what we needed thankyou. it was our anniversary while there and we were left a card and plant, very kind and thoughtful. Hope to return soon, 5 stars and more !

Perfect location and super comfy bungalow

It is a lovely bungalow fully equipped for everyone's need! The welcome tea party for Easter was a great touch (my nieces devoured the chocolate cake :) )

The bedrooms are very comfy, the gardens are beautifully maintained and the conservatory is a nice touch considering the weather.

Would definitely recommend this property when visiting the lakes.

Wonderful stay March 2016

Very peaceful and quite yet close to all local amenities.Lovely bright rooms, very cosy.

When we arrived it was nice to see tea and cake already set up for us. Will certainly come back again.

A car ferry across Lake Windermere from Bowness provides an easy route to the west of the lake, where Beatrix Potter countryside and the honeypot village of Hawkshead await. You'll never be short of opportunities to explore... if you can tear yourself away from The Bird's Nest!

Further Details:

Bowness is one of the Lake District's most lively and sophisticated villages. Shops line the high street, from handy supermarkets to elegant boutiques and quirky gift shops. There are plenty of coffee shops, ice cream parlours and restaurants - endless choice for an evening out and a lively nightlife too! The bustle is easily escaped though; numerous walks begin nearby including the famous ascent of Gummers How where the views over the lake are unforgettable. You might also venture into the Lyth Valley (just east of Bowness), where the handful of exceptional country pubs are regularly winning national awards for their mouthwatering food and local ale.

The prestigious Windermere Golf Club lies just outside Bowness, and has been declared a "miniature Gleneagles' by the golfing press. Back in the village, there is plenty of family fun to be had. You'll find mini golf and tennis on 'The Glebe', and the award-winning World of Beatrix Potter attraction is in the centre of town - an absolute must for children.
