Les Volets Framboises offers accommodation for upto 6 people in a lovingly restored barn which retains many of its original features. Situated in the Dordogne/Charente border, just 1 km from the village of La Rochebeaucourt Et Argentine. The Gite is surrounded by the countryside with views over the valley, the high quality accommodation of the Gite benefits from its own private pool with a barbecue area for outside dining and a private balcony. There are secure gardens and gated parking. The Gite is fully equipped for self catering, there is high chair and cot provided. The gite comfortably caters for 6 adults or a family upto 6 people. The fully equipped kitchen is big enough to prepare an evening meal, with a large dining table big enough to sit 8 people. We hosted a dinner party for 6 people, the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable with music playing on the CD player. We enjoyed an apperatif on the balcony before we sat down to our evening meal, we then enjoyed coffee and brandy on the balcony, the air was warm and still, a perfect evening.

The lights on by the pool added to the atmosphere with candles twinkling on the table, just the cows in the field below in the valley swishing their tails.

We would like to welcome you to France and our Gite which we love, here in Bonneuil.

Sarah has two sons who live back in England, she loves to cook and entertain and when relaxing likes to play on her I pad. Steve has brothers and sisters and has a passion for good old classic movies and John Wayne. We moved here in March 2015 and have been very busy trying to make things nice. We look forward to meeting you.

Sarah and Steve englefield purchased this barn in 2015

Why Sarah and Steve englefield chose La Rochebeaucourt-et-Argentine

We went on holiday to the Charente region and fell in love with the Dordogne with its rolling countryside on our way to visit Brantome for the day.

We are located in a peaceful and friendly hamlet with fantastic views over the valley.

The easy access to the main road the D939 takes you to where you need to go as we live just off it at the top of the village.

We love waking up to the cocks crowing in the mornings & the owls hooting at night. We fell in love with the garden and the Gite, as it has been renovated to a high standard maintaining most of its original features we walked in and said, WOW!

The pool is beautiful with a lovely place to catch the rays relaxing on the sunbeds. We cant get over how lucky we were to find such a place, and can't wait to share its splendour with you.

What makes this barn unique

Les Volets Framboises is situated in a lovely hamlet of La Rochebeaucourt Et Argentine. You will find it is easily accessible from the D939.

Our property is on the road but a very peaceful road with virtually no traffic, you will find it very peaceful and relaxing. We have a large garden with its own pool for the guests, we have an outside dining area with BBQ. At night whilst enjoying a glass of wine sitting on the terrace upstairs outside the Gite, you will be amazed by the array of stars to be seen on a clear night, and taking in the beautiful sunsets over the valley below.

Our gardens are enclosed and gated.

The D939 is the main road giving access to places you want to visit. It is a 15 minute walk to the village which hosts a post office and bakers.

On arrival you will find a welcome pack, normally consisting of bread, croissants/ pain au chocolate, milk, butter, jam, marmalade, eggs, tea, coffee, sugar and a bottle of wine either red, white or rose for you to choose, just enough to keep you going for 2/3 days.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a lovely find, the Gite has everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing and fun holiday. The pool is superb, the terrace, a perfect place to enjoy an evening drink.

Huge thanks to Sarah and Stephen for making our stay in this part of France fabulous.

Keep up the good work.

Wonderful property, with excellent hosts

  • 5 of 5

Les Volets Framboises is a fabulous property, tucked away in a sleepy hamlet, but not too far from civilisation.

Steve & Sarah are wonderful hosts, who are available if you need help, & invisible if you just want to be left alone.

The gite has everything you could possibly want, & sitting on the raised terrace relaxing, looking out over the pool & countryside is just fabulous.

This was our second visit to the gite, & we would definitely visit again.

Our second visit was just as enjoyable and peaceful as our first. The pool entertained the children, the surrounding area is beautiful and relaxing, and the weather was excellent. We look forward to future visits.

Lovely holiday

  • 5 of 5

Les Volets was a perfect holiday property for us. The barn was well equipped and in a lovely area of France. It was very clean and attractively furnished, and had all we required for an excellent stay. We particularly liked the balcony , where we spent lots of time eating , reading ,drinking and generally chilling whilst overlooking lovely countryside. Of course the pool was a bonus when the weather is good.

What made the holiday special was the kindness and generosity of the hosts, Sarah and Steve, to whom we wish every success with their projects in France.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. The balcony gives you a feeling of peace and quiet, a great place to sit and relax looking over the valley. Our holiday home is comfortable and equipped with all you need for a good holiday. The pool and BBQ area is a great sun catcher most definetily, enhanced by the pretty flowers around the pool, with another comfy table and chairs for outside dining when using the BBQ. We do look forward to your return here one day. Best wishes Sarah and Steve

Lovely gite

  • 5 of 5

The gite is fabulous - spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It is open plan with two bedrooms off, each with their own bathroom. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need and there is a huge dining table plus comfy sofas and chairs. It then leads out onto a balcony overlooking the private pool. Unfortunately we were very unlucky with the weather, but having the balcony meant we could dodge in and out of the rain very easily and when the weather was dry it was lovely place to sit out and have a drink or a meal whilst overlooking the pool and the views beyond. Steve and Sarah are great hosts - very intrusive but there if we needed them. The pool is absolutely wonderful and is kept spotlessly clean. The area surrounding is lovely and very convenient for visiting other places. We were recommended two fabulous tiny quirky restaurants out in the middle of nowhere and Steve very kindly drove us there and collected us which was amazing of him. They really do go out of their way to be helpful. I would definitely return, hopefully with better weather. Wonderful.

Owner's Response: A very welcoming review thank you, although we are hoping you mean we are not intrusive, lol. We are very proud of our holiday home and work hard to ensure our guests have a comfortable and memorable stay here. We were more than happy to drive you to the restaurant to help you celebrate your 28th wedding anniversary, it was our pleasure entirely. We are pleased to advise of good places to eat, le petit, a table and Les promenades, each one giving you a totally different culinary experience. It was such a shame about the weather, but we are glad our gite was airy and comfortable for you regardless. We do hope to see you both again. Fondest regards Sarah and Steve

Wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

We selected this holiday property to celebrate our 25th Weeding Anniversary and to be our second honeymoon. Everything was above our expectations!!! The property is spacious, with a lot of natural light coming in, the 2 terraces proved to be very useful and the swimming pool was absolutely amazing!!!! The house was impeccably clean and we had everything we could have wished for!! Sarah and Steve are great hosts and we returned home knowing that we have two more friends in them. We will return to this property next year and we will strongly recommend it to our friends and family.

Thank you very much for everything!!!

A lovely 2 weeks

  • 5 of 5

My 2 boys (14yrs and 10yrs) and I had a lovely 2 week stay. A good combination of staying by the pool on the very hot days, and heading out on the slightly cooler days. The boys had a great time in the pool! You must try the kayaking and velorail- we had a lot of fun. We went for a short cycle locally- not too many cars at all but it was quite undulating.

The gite is perfect- everything you need, and the boys approved of the excellent wifi!

Steve and Sarah were excellent hosts, on hand to help and give advice.

Would definitely recommend to family and friends, and we hope to return for another 2 weeks:-)
