Situated in the Dordogne/Charente border, just 1 km from the village of La Rochebeaucourt Et Argentine. The Gite is surrounded by the countryside with views over the valley, the high quality accommodation of the Gite benefits from its own private pool with a barbecue area for outside dining and a private balcony. The fully equipped kitchen is big enough to prepare an evening meal, with a large dining table big enough to sit 8 people. We hosted a dinner party for 6 people, the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable with music playing on the CD player. We enjoyed an apperatif on the balcony before we sat down to our evening meal, we then enjoyed coffee and brandy on the balcony, the air was warm and still, a perfect evening.

The lights on by the pool added to the atmosphere with candles twinkling on the table, just the cows in the field below in the valley swishing their tails.

We would like to welcome you to France and our Gite which we love, here in Bonneuil.

Sarah has two sons who live back in England, she loves to cook and entertain and when relaxing likes to play on her I pad. Steve has brothers and sisters and has a passion for good old classic movies and John Wayne. We moved here in March 2015 and have been very busy trying to make things nice. We look forward to meeting you.

Why Sarah and Steve englefield chose Perigord Vert

We went on holiday to the Charente region and fell in love with the Dordogne with its rolling countryside on our way to visit Brantome for the day.

We are located in a peaceful and friendly hamlet with fantastic views over the valley.

The easy access to the main road the D939 takes you to where you need to go as we live just off it at the top of the village.

We love waking up to the cocks crowing in the mornings & the owls hooting at night. We fell in love with the garden and the Gite, as it has been renovated to a high standard maintaining most of its original features we walked in and said, WOW!

The pool is beautiful with a lovely place to catch the rays relaxing on the sunbeds. We cant get over how lucky we were to find such a place, and can't wait to share its splendour with you.

What makes this barn unique

Les Volets Framboises is situated in a lovely hamlet of La Rochebeaucourt Et Argentine. You will find it is easily accessible from the D939.

Our property is on the road but a very peaceful road with virtually no traffic, you will find it very peaceful and relaxing. We have a large garden with its own pool for the guests, we have an outside dining area with BBQ. At night whilst enjoying a glass of wine sitting on the terrace upstairs outside the Gite, you will be amazed by the array of stars to be seen on a clear night, and taking in the beautiful sunsets over the valley below.

Our gardens are enclosed and gated.

The D939 is the main road giving access to places you want to visit. It is a 15 minute walk to the village which hosts a post office and bakers.

On arrival you will find a welcome pack, normally consisting of bread, croissants/ pain au chocolate, milk, butter, jam, marmalade, eggs, tea, coffee, sugar and a bottle of wine either red, white or rose for you to choose, just enough to keep you going for 2/3 days.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a lovely find, the Gite has everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing and fun holiday. The pool is superb, the terrace, a perfect place to enjoy an evening drink.

Huge thanks to Sarah and Stephen for making our stay in this part of France fabulous.

Keep up the good work.

A lovely 2 weeks

  • 5 of 5

My 2 boys (14yrs and 10yrs) and I had a lovely 2 week stay. A good combination of staying by the pool on the very hot days, and heading out on the slightly cooler days. The boys had a great time in the pool! You must try the kayaking and velorail- we had a lot of fun. We went for a short cycle locally- not too many cars at all but it was quite undulating.

The gite is perfect- everything you need, and the boys approved of the excellent wifi!

Steve and Sarah were excellent hosts, on hand to help and give advice.

Would definitely recommend to family and friends, and we hope to return for another 2 weeks:-)

Great holiday and wonderful pool

  • 5 of 5

We had a very warm welcome from Steve and Sarah when we arrived and they were on hand throughout our stay, but not intrusive at anytime. Our teenage children loved the pool and Steve lent us a couple of inflatable rings that increased their enjoyment. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with everything you need for a family self catering holiday - the two fridges gave plenty of space for food and drinks! The choice of 3 areas to eat - inside the cottage, the sunny top deck or the shaded poolside decking - was great given the heatwave we had during our week. The two large electric fans were a welcome addition to cool us down in the warm nights. There is loads to do in the local area and you really need a fortnight to have plenty of time to relax and see the sights. A good supermarket is 15 minutes away. There is a convenient boulangerie in La Rochebeaucourt-et-Argentine. Thank you to Steve and Sarah. We hope to be back!

Les Volets

  • 5 of 5

Les Volets Framboise exceeded expectations in every way. Set in a quiet countryside location this superbly converted barn has all you need for a perfect holiday. The large open plan living area leads out onto a large balcony overlooking the lovely pool, garden and views of the countryside. Sarah and Steve were very friendly, welcoming and helpful and are dedicated to ensuring you have a fantastic holiday.

There are plenty of interesting places to visit and we particularly enjoyed nearby Brantome where we ate out on a few occasions. Further south in the Dordogne we recommend a visit to Sarlat.

Next time we plan a trip to this part of France we would definitely like to stay here again.

Absolute Bliss!

  • 5 of 5

We have had the most relaxing week here and sadly left this morning. Everything you could want is catered for here. The place is like a home away from home. Gorgeous interior and exterior and excellent wifi! The balcony was a wonderful place to sit, eat, read and enjoy an evening drink on. The pool area was lovely. The whole place is in a beautiful setting with everything you could want and need in easy reach. Steve and Sarah are the most conscientious, friendly people that you would want as hosts. It was our anniversary today and they surprised us with a card and an orchid. This really made the holiday special for us. Thank you to both of them and we look forward to staying again. To any prospective guests, I can't recommend this place enough and when you do book, make it two weeks as one is definitely not enough!

Fantastic gite with private pool in quiet location

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in this beautiful part of France on several occasions previously, we were delighted to find this real gem. Les Volets Framboises is an amazing place and the views from the property are breath taking. We received a really warm welcome from our fantastic hosts, Sarah and Steve, making us feel immediately "at home". They are very proud of their property and rightly so, and it's evident when you look round. Everything was immaculately clean, the open kitchen fully equipped with good quality pans, crockery and everything you could possibly need for your holiday catering, even a dishwasher, which is a bonus! There's a large dining table 6 chairs and comfortable sofas and armchairs, English TV (in case of inclement weather, or the Euro football in our case this year!) and loads of games to enjoy in the evenings on the terrace with a bottle of wine! The bedrooms (double and twin) were bright, light and airy with their own en suite with superb showers, hairdryer and white fluffy towels. The washing machine downstairs made life easier too as everything dried very quickly in the strong Dordogne sunshine. The terrace was lovely, the view amazing. We loved sitting there with our morning coffee listening to the morning chorus or in the evenings watching the sun go down and our obligatory bottle (or two) of red. The pool and BBQ decking area was great, we could have stayed in the pool all day everyday, it was amazing and definitely needed when the sun got a little too hot and we needed to cool down! We needed a "head in the fridge" totally chilled relaxing holiday and that's just what we got. We've come home feeling relaxed and happy after spending a wonderful 2 weeks here. You can feel the love and passion that Sarah and Steve have for their property in the way it is presented and maintained. We're looking forward to a future return visit - here's to hoping that we will make it! Sarah & Steve - you are stars, thanks for an amazing holiday.
