The beaches and coastline here are stunning and there is so much for everyone in this area: golf, horse riding, go-karting, fishing, climbing, cycling, hiking, archery and wonderful walks both in the country and on the beaches. The owner is on site but guests can have plenty of privacy within the 15 acre farm.
Adrian purchased this cottage in 2013
I fell in love with Normandy for many reasons: stunning countryside; the history of our 16th century house; incredibly friendly people; the local Norman castles; the opportunity to take care of a small piece of a Protected Natural Park with amazing wildlife; beautiful beaches; all steeped in history. I built the farmhouse but plan to explore some alternative building methods in the future (solar, straw, tyres & bottles). There are so many things to do: take in the history of WW2 and the incredibly moving memorials, nature rambles, tractor rides, collect your own eggs from the free range chickens, play football with the dogs, visit the Chateau with the Storks; Bayeux / Mont St Michel; or visit Saint-Lo for the restaurants and bars.
The farm is easy to find but remote enough for the beauty and charm of the French countryside, based in a protected national park. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the peace and tranquility with plenty of room for children to run around and play.
'Gourmet food'; 'delicious food'; 'very relaxed and friendly hosts where nothing is too much trouble'; 'beautifully decorated bedrooms / bathrooms'; 'lovely views'; 'fantastic place for children to run around and play'
I stayed in the gite for 2 weeks with my 2 teenage children and had a great time. It's set in about an acre of land so plenty of room to play football and explore and you really feel in the heart of the countryside but it's very private. It's a short walk to the ruined chateau where storks nest, which is an amazing sight. We went for lots of walks and took our bikes and cycled along the river to Pont Herbert. We also also visited Bayeaux, the lovely D Day beaches, the American cemetery, Mont St Michel and Granville. There was a lovely bakery in St Jean de Daye where we got fresh croissants and bread which we often ate all fresco. The gite was excellent value for money with matching linen provided as well as a tv with a dvd, we also had lots of bbqs. We'll definitely be back as there's still so much we want to see. We got the ferry to Cherbourg and it was only a 45 minute drive to the gite from there.
Central to DDay beaches in the heart of the countryside , excellent walks ,
Close enough to D Day beaches, Bayeux, antique fairs, brocantes, towns and nightlife but the 20 minutes drive also lets you enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
Bikes available for hire on site and undercover parking available on request
There is a Norman castle at the end of the road with nesting storks
