Cottage in St Ives, Cornwall, England - 3 Bed, 2 Bath. Minutes from the beach, situated in the conservation area of Downalong.

2 Island Square is a Grade II listed 3 storey fisherman’s cottage built around 1850. The cottage has been sympathetically restored throughout to the highest standard, with great attention to detail, and a wealth of original features reinstated to protect its character. It has a light, contemporary interior, with quality furnishings and excellent amenities throughout.

The cottage has complimentary WiFi so you can stay in touch with what’s going on in the world. The addition of a log burner, gas central heating, and non-stop hot water, makes it also a perfect retreat for a Winter Break. We welcome well behaved dogs by arrangement, to stay on the ground floor only.

The ground floor is an open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room. It has a fully fitted kitchen with Neff oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and washing machine and an abundance of quality cookware and china. There is a folding dining table with seating for 6 and being a family friendly cottage there is also a children’s table and chairs and dining sets provided. The sitting area has 2 leather sofas and a large digital TV and DVD player.

There are 3 tastefully decorated bedrooms and 2 luxurious bathrooms. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms, one with double bed, and the other with full size bunk beds (suitable for adults) and a bathroom with large power shower and toilet. On the top floor there is a further bedroom with double bed, and a bathroom complete with full size bath and toilet. All bedrooms have flat screen digital TVs, luxury bed linen and towels so you will be guaranteed a comfortable stay.

Guests are asked to bring beach towels and are reminded that the cottage is non smoking.

Stays available in 7 night periods, i.e. 7, 14, 21 days. Should you wish to stay for other denominations of nights please enquire to the owner to check before using instant book, different frequency of stays are season dependent and availability and prices may vary. Thank you.

As well as the many beaches and art galleries in St Ives, 2 Island Square is the perfect base to explore all of what Cornwall has to offer.

There is the Eden Project, perhaps Cornwall’s most internationally famous attraction, where not only can you see what grows in the biomes but they also have many events going on throughout the year from music gigs to circus extravaganzas, there is something for everyone.

Other places worth visiting include the quaint fishing village of Port Isaac – the location of ITV’s Doc Martin, and Porthcurno – home of the Minack Theatre and a beach with the most turquoise sea you will see in Britain.


Our cottage is less than a 5 minute walk to four of St Ives' spectacular Beaches including Porthmeor Beach, Porthgwidden Beach, Barnaluz (dog friendly) Beach and the Harbour Beach.

Our Cottage is perfectly situated in the heart of St Ives’ conservation area of ‘Downalong’, and is a level walk to all that St Ives offers.

Only minutes from both Porthmeor and Porthgwidden beaches, the Harbour and the Tate Gallery.

The Island Car park is a short walk away, as is The Sloop Inn one of Cornwall’s oldest and most famous Inns circa 1312.

If you fancy going further afield from St Ives you are perfectly situated to travel all over Cornwall whether it is to walk the coastal paths, have a day out at the fabulous Eden Project or visit some of the best beaches Europe has to offer and spend your days topping up your tan.

relaxed family holiday

The cottage is in a perfect position so close to the beaches. Made for an easy time with young children to and from the seaside. We were made very welcome and service from owner was fantastic. Booking the car parking space is recommended and made life easy. Great slice of cake opposite! Lovely light airy bedrooms. Great to be able to wash and dry children's clothes which helped on a rainy day. The best thing was location for us. Cottage externally pretty. The only reason for 4 stars is because we have a dog and 3 children and the living space whilst comfortable is one room. Of course we realised that but for a growing family like ours it might not suit us in years to come which is a shame. Comfy beds and good wifi. Well equipped with all we needed to cook. In comparison to other cottages good value. St Ives is the best uk location so far for us.

An amazing week, again, staying at the cottage. Second time staying here as returning was a must as it's an amazing cottage in great location for town and beaches. Now having a parking space too makes it a complete no brainer to stay here!!

In the heart of St. Ives

Alison's fisherman's cottage was perfect for our two week Cornwall holiday. Location could not have been better as the cottage was just a very short stroll to St. Ives' beaches and the Island. Kitchen was very well equipped and bedrooms were very comfortable. We appreciated the welcome flowers, wine, biscuits... including dog biscuits for our pup! Thank you, Alison!

Beautiful cottage in the best location

A fabulous week in a beautiful and well equipped cottage. We were a family with two small children and the location was excellent - 2 minutes walk to a great kid friendly beach with a lovely restaurant. All amenities / shops / restaurants were within a minutes walk from the cottage, with a great cafe opposite. The cottage was cosy with lovely towels and linen and there was endless hot water which was continuously needed to wash sandy children! A great holiday and we will be back!
