Overview

About the property

Cottage in St Ives, Cornwall, England - 3 Bed, 2 Bath. Minutes from the beach, situated in the conservation area of Downalong.

2 Island Square is a Grade II listed 3 storey fisherman’s cottage built around 1850. The cottage has been sympathetically restored throughout to the highest standard, with great attention to detail, and a wealth of original features reinstated to protect its character. It has a light, contemporary interior, with quality furnishings and excellent amenities throughout.

The cottage has complimentary WiFi so you can stay in touch with what’s going on in the world. The addition of a log burner, gas central heating, and non-stop hot water, makes it also a perfect retreat for a Winter Break. We welcome well behaved dogs by arrangement, to stay on the ground floor only.

The ground floor is an open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room. It has a fully fitted kitchen with Neff oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and washing machine and an abundance of quality cookware and china. There is a folding dining table with seating for 6 and being a family friendly cottage there is also a children’s table and chairs and dining sets provided. The sitting area has 2 leather sofas and a large digital TV and DVD player.

There are 3 tastefully decorated bedrooms and 2 luxurious bathrooms. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms, one with double bed, and the other with full size bunk beds (suitable for adults) and a bathroom with large power shower and toilet. On the top floor there is a further bedroom with double bed, and a bathroom complete with full size bath and toilet. All bedrooms have flat screen digital TVs, luxury bed linen and towels so you will be guaranteed a comfortable stay.

Guests are asked to bring beach towels and are reminded that the cottage is non smoking.

Beautiful cottage, centrally located.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is centrally located, Porthgwidden Beach was a few minutes away, as was the centre of town. The cottage was beautifully presented, well equipped and comfortable. It was bright and airy. The heating system was very efficient and easy to use.The water was plentiful and hot. Bed linen and towels were of excellent quality. The cottage was spotless. Fresh flowers, a welcome card and a basket of chocolate eggs helped to make us feel very welcome! The owner, Alison , was available to answer any questions and was very helpful before our arrival as well.

We were a family of 6 adults and one small baby. The cottage accommodated all of us, even my son and his partner who volunteered for the bunk beds!

St Ives is beautiful. Ideally placed on the coastal path meant we had plenty of exercise allowing us to enjoy all the beach restaurants where the quality of food and service was high. Olive's cafe directly opposite had the most wonderful cakes to which we had to succumb!

thank you very much for making our first three generation holiday so pleasurable!

A lovely, comfortable, clean, fresh, well-maintained and cosy home from home just a minute from the beach and conveniently opposite wonderful Olives Cafe which serves the best cake and coffee imaginable. The owner was very responsive and helpful (and left a lovely welcome gift for our arrival). Would definitely recommend.

Gorgeous cottage 2 minutes from the beach!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first family holiday in St Ives - my wife booked this cottage. We were extremely pleased with the location and style as soon as we walked through the door. The cottage is convenient and super close to all the beaches, harbour, Fore Street and the Island Car Park. We had such a wonderful holiday - St Ives really is a great place for all the family to hang out!

The whole family and Smudge the dog can't wait to come back!

Stunning! Highly Recommend!

  • 5 of 5

We have been visiting St Ives for 15 years and have never come across such a beautiful and well located home away from home!

We had such a fabulous stay at Alison's cottage - you can really notice and appreciate the attention to detail throughout. Other than the beautiful furnishings and design, it is easy to see the cottage has been well maintained and improved - particularly on the beds - Alison I must find out from you where you source your incredibly comfortable mattresses from!

Despite the endless gourmet restaurants in the town and surrounding areas, my husband enjoys cooking in, and the cottage is well furnished with pretty much every utensil or piece of equipment you may need which makes this cottage feel even more like home.

Across from the cottage is the idyllic cafe 'Olives' - a must visit for any visitor to St Ives who loves scones, cake and other yummy lunch items. I know in the summer when we have come the cafe hosts supper clubs which serve up delicious homely dishes.

We can't wait for our next visit this summer!

Superb location and lovely home

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is superb and has everything you need for an excellent stay in the gorgeous St Ives. We stayed here with 4 adults and our little and enjoyed having the benefit of 2 bathrooms. The location is absolutely perfect being so close to the car park and short walk to the beach and town. We are coming back here next year as we enjoyed it so much.

Special interest holidays:

As well as the many beaches and art galleries in St Ives, 2 Island Square is the perfect base to explore all of what Cornwall has to offer.

There is the Eden Project, perhaps Cornwall’s most internationally famous attraction, where not only can you see what grows in the biomes but they also have many events going on throughout the year from music gigs to circus extravaganzas, there is something for everyone.

Other places worth visiting include the quaint fishing village of Port Isaac – the location of ITV’s Doc Martin, and Porthcurno – home of the Minack Theatre and a beach with the most turquoise sea you will see in Britain.

Coast/Beach:

Our cottage is less than a 5 minute walk to four of St Ives' spectacular Beaches including Porthmeor Beach, Porthgwidden Beach, Barnaluz (dog friendly) Beach and the Harbour Beach.

Further Details:

Our Cottage is perfectly situated in the heart of St Ives’ conservation area of ‘Downalong’, and is a level walk to all that St Ives offers.

Only minutes from both Porthmeor and Porthgwidden beaches, the Harbour and the Tate Gallery.

The Island Car park is a short walk away, as is The Sloop Inn one of Cornwall’s oldest and most famous Inns circa 1312.

If you fancy going further afield from St Ives you are perfectly situated to travel all over Cornwall whether it is to walk the coastal paths, have a day out at the fabulous Eden Project or visit some of the best beaches Europe has to offer and spend your days topping up your tan.
