About the property

Cottage in St Ives, Cornwall, England - 3 Bed, 2 Bath. Minutes from the beach, situated in the conservation area of Downalong.

2 Island Square is a Grade II listed 3 storey fisherman’s cottage built around 1850. The cottage has been sympathetically restored throughout to the highest standard, with great attention to detail, and a wealth of original features reinstated to protect its character. It has a light, contemporary interior, with quality furnishings and excellent amenities throughout.

The cottage has complimentary WiFi so you can stay in touch with what’s going on in the world. The addition of a log burner, gas central heating, and non-stop hot water, makes it also a perfect retreat for a Winter Break. We welcome well behaved dogs by arrangement, to stay on the ground floor only.

The ground floor is an open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room. It has a fully fitted kitchen with Neff oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and washing machine and an abundance of quality cookware and china. There is a folding dining table with seating for 6 and being a family friendly cottage there is also a children’s table and chairs and dining sets provided. The sitting area has 2 leather sofas and a large digital TV and DVD player.

There are 3 tastefully decorated bedrooms and 2 luxurious bathrooms. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms, one with double bed, and the other with full size bunk beds (suitable for adults) and a bathroom with large power shower and toilet. On the top floor there is a further bedroom with double bed, and a bathroom complete with full size bath and toilet. All bedrooms have flat screen digital TVs, luxury bed linen and towels so you will be guaranteed a comfortable stay.

Guests are asked to bring beach towels and are reminded that the cottage is non smoking.

Charming cottage in a great location

We have just returned from a lovely week in St Ives. 2 Island Square is a charming, well appointed / located cottage just off the main shopping and harbour area of St Ives. It's 200 yards from the Island car park and the surfing beach at Porthmeor.

The rooms were just right for the 5 of us and the cottage provided a great base to explore the beautiful surroundings of West Cornwall. Whilst there is no parking (beyond loading and unloading) at the cottage we purchased a weekly parking ticket giving access to all car parks in St Ives but never failed to get parked overnight at the Island car park which is just at the end of the road from the cottage.

Alison the owner was super helpful in the run up to our visit and afterwards, providing great advice to enhance our stay.

Wonderful cottage 5 mins from beach, shops and restaurants

The cottage is situated in an ideal location, close to a beach, lovely coffee shops, restaurants and shops. Alison has refurbished the cottage to a very high standard and it has all the home comforts. We had excellent weather, which showed St Ives at it's best - I can't believe how turquoise the sea looked!

Great location close to all beaches

We found 2 Island Square ideally situated with just a few mins walk to the harbour and town. The cottage benefits by having 2 bathrooms, bedrooms had a light and airy feel to them.

Added advantage we were able to off load our luggage at the door before taking our car to car park.

A hidden treasure in Central St Ives

I stayed in this cottage for a week with 4 other ladies which was very comfortable having a bathroom and shower room was a bonus!!! Plenty of hot water. The cottage was was very clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable with quality bedding. The bunk beds were plenty big enough for 2 adults

Plenty of walking paths close by and restaurants almost on your doorstep for the evening meal.

Good customer service from the owner leaving a contact number if needed.

Everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage - fully equipped, comfy beds, decorated to a high standard, and spotlessly clean. Ideally situated luxury cottage

Lovely comfortable cottage,everything provided you could possibly need. Good position , Very good restaurants within walking distance . Beaches ect all close by. You won't be dissapointed here.

As well as the many beaches and art galleries in St Ives, 2 Island Square is the perfect base to explore all of what Cornwall has to offer.

There is the Eden Project, perhaps Cornwall’s most internationally famous attraction, where not only can you see what grows in the biomes but they also have many events going on throughout the year from music gigs to circus extravaganzas, there is something for everyone.

Other places worth visiting include the quaint fishing village of Port Isaac – the location of ITV’s Doc Martin, and Porthcurno – home of the Minack Theatre and a beach with the most turquoise sea you will see in Britain.

Coast/Beach:

Our cottage is less than a 5 minute walk to four of St Ives' spectacular Beaches including Porthmeor Beach, Porthgwidden Beach, Barnaluz (dog friendly) Beach and the Harbour Beach.

Further Details:

Our Cottage is perfectly situated in the heart of St Ives’ conservation area of ‘Downalong’, and is a level walk to all that St Ives offers.

Only minutes from both Porthmeor and Porthgwidden beaches, the Harbour and the Tate Gallery.

The Island Car park is a short walk away, as is The Sloop Inn one of Cornwall’s oldest and most famous Inns circa 1312.

If you fancy going further afield from St Ives you are perfectly situated to travel all over Cornwall whether it is to walk the coastal paths, have a day out at the fabulous Eden Project or visit some of the best beaches Europe has to offer and spend your days topping up your tan.
