About Karen

My husband and I have owned Irton Manor for approximately 9 years, we have spent a lot of time bringing the estate up to the standard it is today and we would love to share it with you. Our gardens are beautiful and the house is comfy and spacious and with so much to do on the estate you could spend all your time here.

Karen purchased this chateau / country house in 2007

Why Karen chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

We have lived in the area for most of our lives and when the property came up for sale we had to buy it even though we had to spend 2 years renovating it to the standard it is today, entering the gates you feel that at the end of the drive there is a special house. The peace and quite at Irton is very relaxing but it is just a short drive into Scarborough.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Irton Manor has 6 spacious bedrooms (5 south facing with 4 ensuites), 3 further bedrooms are situated in Courtyard Cottage which has an indoor corridor linking it to the Manor which means we can accommodate up to 18 guests (the cottage is priced separately) the Manor is very convenient to the town, beaches and moors yet with all the facilities we have on site you may wish to stay within our 35 acres and enjoy the estate. We have negotiated a rate of £10 per person for any guests who would like to play a round of golf at South Cliff course in Scarborough.

An amazing place beautifully furnished

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful place with fantastic grounds and facilities. This was our second visit there were 12 of us which included 5 teenagers and we just love the place. The pool is of a good size and depth and just the right temperature. The kitchen is exceptional and a joy to cook in, we tended to relax around the kitchen area as it had great views over the garden and there was so much room. Tennis court is pristine and the golf course was much appreciated by the men folk. The owners kindly arranged for a round of golf for the keen players at their club. The hidden garden is a sight to behold. I can't praise this place enough for a relaxing break we felt like lords and ladies of the manor. We were so well looked after by Karen who kept in contact to check if we needed anything.

Owner's Response: Dear Gemma, thank you for taking the time to write such a glowing review for Irton Manor, however the best review is that you came back for a second time. We are so pleased your group enjoyed all the facilities at The Manor again and happy that you took advantage of a complimentary game of golf at our club. Karen is always on hand to make sure that all our guests have a great experience at Irton Manor. Thank you again and maybe we will see you for a third visit sometime in the future? Best wishes Paul and Karan (owners), Karen (House Manager)

A splendid house in an excellent location

  • 5 of 5

We rented the property as a group of six middle-aged couples. We have extensive experience of renting as a group, and this is, by far, the best property we have stayed in. The bedrooms (4 ensuite, 2 sharing) were roomy, comfortable and tastefully decorated (in common with the rest of the house). The dining room was splendidly wood-panelled and comfortable for 12 people. The various lounge areas, both with and without TV (full Sky package), were spacious and inviting. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and well laid out. The gardens (eight at a rough guess, all different, including several fountains and waterfalls) were one of the highlights of the property. The tennis court, croquet lawn and golf area ('course' might be stretching it) were well-maintained and fully available. The swimming pool and associated shower areas were modern, warm, clean and regularly maintained. The games room was perhaps the only slight disappointment, with a pool table and table football aimed at children rather than adults.

The house is very well located. We sampled black pudding and pies (delicious) in the local village, fish and chips in Whitby (a must), golf at several nearby cliff-top courses, culture and history at Castle Howard, and walking either by the sea or on the moors. The natives (including the agent and owners) were friendly.

A great holiday at a wonderful property, that we would strongly recommend to similar groups.

Owner's Response: Dear Gordon, thank you for your great review of Irton Manor we are really pleased that your group enjoyed your stay. Most of our guests are family groups so we try to cater for all age ranges but are happy to receive suggestions on how we can improve the experience for everyone. The golf course is advertise as fun and we provide clubs for guests to just have a hack around. We do offer a free round at South Cliff golf course in Scarborough for serious golfers but unfortunately the tee off time was not convenient to your group. We hope that we can welcome you back sometime in the future. Thank you once again, best regards Paul and Karan (Owners) Karen ( House Manager)

Fabulous Manor House!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous weekend in this wonderful house. We wanted for nothing and everywhere was beautifully clean and well maintained with amazing decor!

We were away to celebrate a significant birthday with four generations of the family and there was something to keep everyone entertained from the youngest to the oldest. The swimming pool and the golf holes were particular favourites and there was hot competition in the games room.

The house manager was particularly helpful and gave us information on restaurants and cafes and places we should see. Our weekend was not long enough and we hope to return!

Stunning property with beautiful gardens

  • 5 of 5

Irton Manor is a spectacular fully appointed and secure Manor House set within an immaculate estate and grounds.

Everything was provided to a very high standard which made our stay extremely comfortable and private. Beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms, wonderful spacious and airy living roomswith a fantastic dining and outdoor sitting area.

First the magnificent and extremely clean indoor pool, croquet on the lawn, tennis on the court as well as the golf course, along with numerous beautiful walks - with many surprises! Ideal for our family occasion. On our arrival, Karen was on hand to offer a cup of tea and delicious home made cake. We could not have felt more at ease from the very start. Then our time to explore ...what a treat was in store!

The whole experience was an absolute delight and cannot wait for a return visit.

John and Carol.

P.S. Our deposit was returned within 48 hours of departure. Efficient - thankyou.

Amazingly peaceful retreat in total luxury

  • 5 of 5

We recently had a 10 day summer family get together with 8 adults and 5 children. The grounds and gardens were more magnificent than we expected from the photos. The sheer space and comfort of the rooms was a pleasure. The entire facility is kept and maintained to a very high standard. We played football and hit golf balls in the outer grounds,as well as tennis and croquet. The tennis court was a favourite, the kitchen and living areas accommodated our group easily . The kitchen is very highly specified . We loved the huge English gardens .

The swimming pool was used daily by children and adults and was very clean as was the entire facility. Privacy was well maintained.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would love to stay again Thank you Karen for facilitating our booking and responding during our stay!

Amazing venue & weekend.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over the weekend of our Golden Wedding Anniversary with our family. The property provided something for all age ranges, including two teenagers and an 18 months old grandchild.

Karen met us and made us very welcome. The shopping delivery had been put away and there were two bottles of prosecco, a card and a special David Austin "Golden Celebration" rose.

All appliances, fixtures and fittings are up-to-date and of a high standard. The indoor pool and separate games room kept all ages entertained, despite the moderate weather. The grounds are magnificently maintained and good use was made of the tennis court and croquet lawn, where equipment is provided.

From arriving to leaving, our car never moved. A great time was enjoyed by everyone.

Many thanks to the staff and owners.
