Philip and Sarah Davies purchased this cottage in 2014
When we found Penn Cottage it was love at first sight. It is a delightful cottage in a central quiet location. We have furnished it to a high standard to make a welcoming home from home.
Salcombe is a special place, in and out of season. It is big enough to offer a lot of activities and variety shops, pubs and restaurants, yet small enough to be friendly. The estuary is a fabulous 'play area' for adults and children alike - with beaches, boating, sailing, walking, day trips and more.
Beautifully furnished and presented.
We have had an absolutely wonderful time at beautiful Penn Cottage. The owners have covered everything you could ever need for a fantastic holiday from home comforts in the cottage as well as information on the local area / walks / pubs / restaurants / contact numbers etc. The cottage itself is in a fabulous location in Salcombe centre and the views from the bedroom balcony are of the estuary and are quite stunning. We would gladly recommend this property for anyone wanting to stay in Salcombe. We certainly will be looking to book again in future.
Thank you Philip & Sarah for your thoughtfulness.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Penn Cottage. It is very comfortable and was warm and cosy. The cottage is well located in Salcombe and very well equipped. The owners have left lots of useful information and instructions for all the equipment and amenities. It is beautifully furnished. I would not hesitate to recommend Penn Cottage.
Well presented with fabulous views of the estuary, Penn Cottage is superbly located in the heart of Salcombe. Excellent communication from the owners. We would recommend the property for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year.
The perfect place to stay and unwind and enjoy the beauty of Salcombe. It is excellently located, less than a minutes walk to the water's edge and the town. The views from the bedroom out to the harbour are stunning and an instant stress reliever! The owners have thought of everything. It is comfortable, clean, beautifully decorated, excellently equipped, lovely log burning stove and comfortable beds with good quality linen. Would not hesitate to recommend this property.
Charming and beautiful property. Very well stocked and all needs have been catered for. Philip had even organised the car parking permits for us in advance of our arrival and this was much appreciated. He was very helpful in answering all questions prior to arrival. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking meals in and plenty of storage with the extra fridge being a bonus. The ensuite bathroom is lovely with a very good shower - lovely to have the view over the bay whilst washing! The downstairs bathroom is very cosy, comfortable shower and deep bath for soaking tired feet and there is always hot water. The cottage is in a perfect location just a few minutes stroll from all the shops and restaurants. The bakery is a minute from the cottage and fresh bakery goods for breakfast every day were a treat! The cottage was immaculately clean and beautifully presented.
Wonderful view to wake up to from the main bedroom everyday. Salcombe is a great location for coastal activities - walking, trekking, sailing etc and the town has everything you could need to support this. Fantastic walks around Bolt Head and Garra Rock highly recommended. Also good for day trips to places such as Dartmoor, Dartmouth and the Eden Project. Particularly good meals to be had in all the local eateries - we did not have a bad meal whilst we were there.
5 star cottage and location. We will definitely be back!
I stayed here with friends for three nights recently and Penn Cottage is simply fab! The owners have thought of everything from essentials in the cupboards to how beautifully decorated the entire property is. The master bedroom is beautifully laid out with stunning views from the balcony of Salcombe Estuary. I'll definitely be returning!
Rob - Salcombe Expert!!
We had a fantastic stay at Penn Cottage in Salcombe. The cottage was perfect for our needs and really central and convenient. The hosts also arranged our parking permit for the nearby car park which was very useful. The cottage itself is very homely, with excellent general facilities and a great view from the top balcony. There is lots of information to hand in the cottage to help you get your bearings when you arrive, with some good suggestions for where to eat and drink (particularly good was the recommendation for the pain au raisin at the Bake House, which is a two-minute walk away). Philip was very helpful ahead of our stay, the cottage was in perfect condition when we arrived and I would have no hesitation in recommending both Penn Cottage and Salcombe to anyone hoping to take a break at the English seaside.
Penn Cottage is less than five minutes' walk to the ferries leaving from Whitestrand, in the centre of Salcombe, across the estuary to fabulous beaches at East Portlemouth (5 minutes) or round the headland to South Sands (10 minutes).
