About Joan and Dennis Glass
The location of our house is just outstanding and we, Joan and Dennis, welcome visitors to share the amazing situation and views.
Joan and Dennis Glass purchased this Cottage in 1996
Why Joan and Dennis Glass chose Caernarfon
Work brought us to the area over 50yrs ago and from our previous house on the opposite side of the valley we kept looking towards Fachwen with envy because, being south facing, was in full sun whenever it shone! Consquently, when the opportunity arose we moved across and valley and just love every minute of living here. The cottage end is about 150yrs old and we have been successfully renting it to holiday makers for over 20yrs. The great outdoors attracted us to Snowdonia and the location of the house is ideal for all types of outdoor activities, including walks straight from the door, and of course Snowdon, the Great Little Trains of Wales, Castles, beaches, and the Isle of Anglesey 30mins drive away. It is also a perfect retreat for getting away from it all and just chilling out.
What makes this Cottage unique
Outside, we have off road parking, stunning views and an enclosed gravel area with decking and another seating area to catch the best of the sun, and after a day out whether touring or being energetic, it's the perfect place to sit and read or enjoy the odd glass of wine or two.

Lovely cottage with amazing views!
From the moment I arrived, Chwarel Goch and the surrounding area took my breath away! It is simply stunning. The views are incredible and well worth the money alone! The cottage is spotless, well stocked with everything you need and the bed is lovely and comfy! I slept so well during my stay! Joan and Dennis are a lovely couple, and wonderful hosts. The cake was very much appreciated! There's so much to see and do in the area, I could have spent an extra 2 weeks and not seen everything I wanted to see! I did manage an interesting walk on the Slate Trails which was very informative, went onto Anglesey and climbed Snowdon. Llanberis is only 10 minutes drive, and has a very nice chip shop (recommended)! I left Chwarel Goch with so many happy memories and will definitely return! Thank you to Joan and Dennis! :)
A perfect cosy pitstop on our tour of Wales
We spent 2 nights at Chwarel Goch during a trip around Mid to North Wales. The property was perfect for us. All the facilities we needed and very cosy. Joan and Dennis both popped over to check we were ok and to offer us anything we needed. Otherwise we were left to our own devices. The view from the bedroom is beautiful, a perfect way to start your day. Location wise it was great, meaning we were able to explore the miles and miles of beautiful landscape in the surrounding area. If our travels take us that way again we'll certainly be staying again. Oh, and the welcoming Welsh cakes were delicious. Thank you.
Cosy little retreat in a tranquil location
Great base for walking and site seeing. Everything you need and more. The owners Dennis and Joan are really lovely people and can’t do enough for you! Definitely recommend a visit!!
Had a wonderful stay here. Perfect location with amazing view. Teacakes on arrival was lovely. The accommodation was very homely and good for couples who wants a weekend away. Joan and Dennis were very nice and ensured that everything was in order.
Well presented property in a beautiful position
This is a little gem! A cosy welcoming cottage with lots of thoughtful touches in a lovely elevated position above Llyn Padern with views of the mountains. An ideal location for exploring the area. Although the weather wasn't too kind to us it was a warm, welcoming place to come back to, and we will visit again.
Fantastic location with loads of great walks from the doorstep.
The cottage has a fabulous location and the views and sunsets are amazing.
Slightly disappointed with some aspects of the property, the stairs up to the bedroom are very steep and not featured in the photos (they are accessed straight from the sitting room). The cooker is hard to work as all the hob settings (i.e numbering) is missing so we were unsure which setting we were on and as nothing lights up we found it a bit dangerous. However these are fairly minor points which were a little frustrating but overall it is a lovely place to stay. would highly recommend as a lovely base from which to explore Snowdownia
Coast at Caernarfon 15mins, beach at Dinas Dinlle, 30 mins driving, Newborough beach, Anglesey, 30 mins driving,
Direct from the property, numerous paths, some waymarked routes in Country Park
Llanberis 2 miles walking, 4 miles by road. Caernarfon Castle 7 miles, City of Bangor 9 miles. Beaches 30 mins drive away.
In addition to excellent climbing and mountaineering routes, Llanberis has numerous attractions being the starting point for the Snowdon Railway, the only mountain cog railway in Britain, and Padarn Lake Railway. It is the venue for the International Snowdon Race, the Slateman Triathlon, and the Snowdonia Marathon. For water sports, Llyn Padarn, approximately 2 miles long, is perfect for wild water swimming, sailing, rowing, and canoeing. The Dinorwig Power Station and the National Slate Museum of Wales, are also situated here plus it also offers a variety of shops, restaurants, including world famous Pete's Eats and a bank.
