Fescue Cottage. A converted barn in Noss Mayo, South Devon, England - Peaceful Location Just Outside Noss Mayo

Three bedroom, two bathroom cottage in converted Victorian barn complex. Ample parking. Garden and Tennis court. Both main bedroom are on the ground floor along with the main bathroom. The kitchen and bunk room are on the first floor along with another shower. Upstairs is a large lounge occupying the entire upper floor. Guests have access to gardens, a tennis court and a playroom in which there are further washers and dryers.

Warm, comfortable. A catalyst for a perfect holiday

What can I say. Everything catered for and allows me to pen my thoughts as follows...

Lanes so narrow they grasp you in their shady warmth

Beyond....A serene landscape where calmness rules

Where silence is a whispering wind or a warbling unseen bird

An honest life lived by the fruits of ones tools

A sunrise over a sculpted shore

Or a sunset over the insanely coloured moors

In between time stands still and senses benumbed

By the flora, fauna, history and all its allure

Spent a week here and yet I could invest a life

And still discover new secrets whispered in keen ears

For now I've got memories and tales to tell

Of a place I'll always hold dear

A Devon Family Holiday

I booked this let in May and was in immediate contact with Steve the owner, and the communication has been excellent throughout the booking procedure and the stay. Fescue is part of a really interesting stable block conversion with several lets of various sizes, all set in really well maintained communal gardens, with a tennis court ( we loved this) and a table tennis table in the middle laundry building.

The description of the let was spot on, and it is a quirky "upside down" house with the sitting area on the top floor and bedrooms and kitchen on the 1st 2 floors. The property was clean, loads of towels provided, and had a kitchen with everything you could want. The sitting area was large and comfortably sat the six of us. 2 bath/ shower rooms were great for managing 6 people too!

I would recommend the Ship Inn in Noss Mayo for top end pub food, and excellent local beer. There is loads to do. Our aim was to find a beach. There is one 1/2 mile down the lane, but it is a bit of a trek. However Bigbury on Sea about 40 mins (12 miles) away was perfect for paddling, swimming, surfing, cricket, football, beach combing, rockpooling etc etc etc. (Get there early as it gets v busy if the weathers good). Theres loads to do around and about. Plymouth Hoe, and Salcombe are worth a visit. (bring plenty of change for car parking).

Great for walkers. South West Coast Path passes close by. Great fishing and sailing from Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers on the River Yealm.


10 minute walk to Stoke beach or the waterside village of Noss Mayo, a Mecca for sailors and fishermen.


Exeter airport is 45 mins away

Use of a car highly recommended


Noss Mayo 1/4 mile. Plymouth 10 miles.

Further Details:

Two pubs in the village. Post Office, shop and butcher in Newton Ferrers about a mile away.

Changeover Day:
Flexible for shorter breaks. Saturday for week breaks or longer. Please vacate by 1100 on day of departure and arrive after 1500 to allow the property to be cleaner fully.

30% deposit upon confirmation and the balance, including £50 security deposit, eight weeks prior to start of booking .
