When we first saw the lodge we fell in love with its Scandinavian feel, the peaceful location and the stunning views. Watch the deer at dusk and listen to the owl in the woods at night! The Cairngorm National Park is minutes away, the Lecht ski area suits families with children and is only 30 minutes drive away, or go to Aviemore for a more challenging days skiing. Never seen the northern lights? There is a good chance you will see them here. Ben Rinnes at the back makes for a great little hike with amazing views and it manageable even if you are not very fit or have small children.
This is the ideal base to get away from it all, but there is plenty to do on sunny days and rainy ones. The lodge is fully equipped and very comfortable, and has games, DVDs and a Playstation 2 to keep everyone amused, if the sun isn't shining. Enjoy the walks from the doorstep, or on Glenlivet Estate, visit a castle or a distillery, and Inverness and Aberdeen are not too far away, if it gets too quiet, or you need some shopping therapy!
Our second stay here...
and we will definitely be back! Beautiful views, lots to do, lovely walks with dog, so much to occupy kids - perfect. The lodge is an ideal base and so well equipped, never wanted for anything, love that there are games, DVDs, music all there for indoor days or just for chilling out after busy days at Landmark, Carrbridge for example. Could easily spend another week here.

A great little lodge...
ideal for two deer stalkers like ourselves! We had four days stalking up here on a neighbouring estate in sometimes atrocious weather. The lodge was so warm and homely to come back to. Cannot wait til the next time.

Great, chilled week...
and lovely weather to top it off (except a bit of rain on Friday morning). Best places to go: Loch Ness, sand dunes @ Lossiemouth East Beach were lovely. The circular walk at Packhorse Bridge is beautiful - although a bit longer than 2 miles. Walked to the top of Ben Rinnes - fab experience!! Morinsh woodlands were nice to walk through. Managed to finally see a red squirrel @ Ballindalloch Castle - hoorah!! Lodge is very comfortable and well equipped - thank you!! Couple with dogs from Nottingham, August 2012
Our lodge was as described and was well maintained and very clean. Good communications and customer service all the way through the stay and booking. Despite the rain almost all week we found plenty to do and places to visit. We would recommend The Croft Inn for both service, prices and food. they also serve 1/2 size portions if requested. Lodge dog friendly and plenty of dog friendly walks. Wi-Fi would have been a help as no O2 mobile network ( this could be a big plus for some) Would recommend this lodge without reservation. Only reason for 4 Stars was lack of Wi-Fi.
We could not have been more pleased with our visit. The first week was exceptional, with wa carried out rm sunny days, it could not have been better. Although we had less than perfect weather in the second week, it did not stop us enjoying what we regard as the most beautiful place in the UK. It was good that the Lodge provided everything we needed, and in a quiet location. The tv ariel needed attention, which was done by the Ariel man first thing in the morning after a phone call the previous evening, (very impressive), and a lovely man to boot. On the whole it was a superb holiday, which we would love to repeat, but unfortunately seems unlikely given Tricia's deteriorating condition, but we can only hope and pray.
We spend a fantastic and relaxing week in this lovely Lodge. The Lodge was clean, very well equipped and provided everything what is necessary for a great holiday. It's remote location allows leave the daily routine and hectics from the city life behind and enjoy the calmness of the nature.
The Glenlivet area has very nice hiking trails and Dufftown as well as Tomintoul offer a few neat cafés and dining places.
Due to the remote location of the Lodge and the distance to the two nearer towns, a car will be good to have.
We absolutely recommend a stay in this lodge!
The lodge was just as the pictures showed. It was very comfortable, clean and had everything to just move right in. The owners were very accommodating as we rented on short notice. Would definitely recommend to others.
We booked the lodge for a long weekend during the Easter Holidays. The lodge is situated in a beautiful location with great views. Unfortunately it was a bit too cold for us to take advantage of the outdoor space but it would be lovely in summer, sitting outside on the verandah with a chilled glass of wine soaking up the great surroundings! The lodge was well equipped with everything we needed and more and was very comfortable and homely. The kids enjoyed playing some of the board games that were there and also the play station. Sara, the owner was very helpful when booking, and gave us some great ideas for things to do in and around the area. We would definitely consider staying in the lodge again as we all had a great time.
The breathtakingly beautiful and unspoilt Banffshire Coast with its dramatic coastal scenery, pastel-coloured cottages, abundant wildlife and sandy beaches is approximately 50 minutes drive away.
Aberdeen Airport 1 hour 20 minutes, Inverness Airport 1 hour 30 minutes. Due to the remote location of the lodge, you will need a car.
Dufftown 8 miles, Tomintoul 12 miles, Grantown-On-Spey 23 miles, Elgin 27 miles, Aviemore 36 miles, Braemar 42 miles, Inverness 56 miles, Aberdeen 60 miles, Edinburgh 161 miles
The Croft Inn pub/restaurant 2 miles away. Huge variety of walks from the doorstep, on the Glenlivet Estate and in the Cairngorms.
