About Krishna Ramcharran

I live in the Scottish Borders with my wife, 2 boys, our 4 year old black lab and 14 year old Russian Blue. We love chilling out together.

Krishna Ramcharran purchased this farmhouse in 2001

Why Krishna Ramcharran chose Xagħra

My wife and I visited Gozo by chance in 2001. After a long weekend we had fallen in love with the island and had purchased the farmhouse.

Since then we've had two boys who in turn have also fallen in love with the Island. The farmhouse is our second home and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Relax and enjoy the tranquillity and privacy of our garden and pool. If your feeling energetic Ramla bay a lovey sandy beach is just a 10minute drive away.

Looking for a pre-dinner cocktail then sample our olives and lemons from our mini orchard.

Finally having worked up an appetite check out the local restaurants in the village square a 10-15 minute walk and sample the fantastic local cuisine, or visit the oldest bakery on the island for fantastic bread and pizza - a 10minute walk away.

Fabulous farmhouse, great facilities including poo

  • 5 of 5

Our second time to visit and was lovely knowing what a special place we were going back to.

Lovely outdoor pool (I swam every day) with variety of comfy pool furniture. My favourite is the swing seat.

Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, cosy living and dining room. Wide screen TV with access to numerous films.

Sadly due to circumstances we can't return next year and make it 3 years in a row. Gozo is the perfect size for a holiday island, lots of great snorkelling places. Xaghra town centre is 15 mins walk from the house - coffee in the square is fab. Local restaurant on the way can't remember its name tal-fornur or something similar - fabulous meal with warm service from the family who own it. Would go back there too.

If you get a chance to stay here take it!

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property the picture do not do this villa justice.

When we arrived we found a food hamper left for us which was a really nice touch, This is our first time in Gozo however have visited Malta a few times and we usually stay in villas and this villa has a lot of nice touches, all the manuals for TV, Cooker and air con have been left and also maps and list of restaurants and places to visit which I thought was a really nice touch.

The bedrooms also have AC which was great as being from Scotland the heat at night can be a bit much.

The villa is clean and has a well stocked kitchen with everything you need and the pool is well maintained,

There is also a cat called Beryl which we were more than happy to feed and if your are outside having dinner she will always be around looking for something better to eat :) Just with children be careful as she is a wild cat she does not like to be touched unless it's on her terms and as we have 2 cats of our own my daughter tried to pet her and Beryl did paw at her but she is a lovely cat.

I would love to stay at this villa again and have already recommended to friends

Lovely house - we rebooked as soon as we got home

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property well maintained. Magical when we first arrived and couldn't believe where we were staying! Pool is clean and well looked after. Nice patio eating and also good seating inside. Kitchen is well equipped. Good location for exploring Gozo. We were arriving late so owner arranged for some provisions to be left in the fridge. Can't wait to go back later on this year.

Extraordinarily beautiful limestone farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

We had the good fortunate to stay in this extraordinarily beautiful limestone farmhouse with its exquisite interior design and lush garden and pristine pool for two weeks in May. We are architecture lovers and seek out such homes in our world travels. Staying in Ta Krishna was as special as staying in a Moroccan riad, a villa in Bali, or a palatial home in India. The owner Krishna has completed an amazing renovation. The living and dining room are in the former stable and overlook the large pool in the walled garden filled with mature, sub-tropical plantings. Staying in May allowed us the best of both worlds – sunning and swimming during the day and enjoying the ambiance and warmth of wood burning fires in the cast iron stove in the evening. There is a large and well-equipped kitchen for self-catering, including a dishwasher, charcoal grill and adorable Dutch doors. A Lidl full service supermarket with a nice selection of wine is a 10-minute drive from the house. Other amenities include a washer machine, ceiling fans, air-conditioning, and high-speed Internet and HD cable television. The bedrooms (two upstairs and one downstairs) are spacious with historic tile floors and wooden shutters to make the room dark for sleeping. The bathrooms have great water pressure and are immaculately clean. The home’s location is also convenient to everything on the island of Gozo. The Xaghra town square, with its pleasant atmosphere, cafes and restaurants, is an easy 20-minute walk. The Oleander restaurant in Xaghra was excellent and we visited twice during our stay. Communication with Krishna was excellent and his recommendation to use Mario’s Car rental provided us with a great car and great service from Pauline. We also ended up asking Pauline to book all of our taxi transfers when we returned to Malta.

Unique property on a stunning island

  • 5 of 5

This fantastic farmhouse is located on a beautiful island. The house has so many unique features, the highlight being the curved roof lounge, fabulous outdoor space, quality kitchen appliances and the internal courtyard. The property was clean and well equipped. When we had a slight issue with the electrics the maintenance man came immediately to resolve. There's also a bonus of good wifi and English tv channels inc movies and sport. The square at Xaghra is only a 20 minute walk with lovely restaurants and bars. The stunning Ramla beach is only a 10 minute drive. A (very) early boat trip to the stunning blue lagoon on Comino is a must see (but it's mobbed by lunchtime!). We will be returning to Gozo and would have no hesitation staying here again.
