About Victoria Richardson

Owner/Manager at Crumplehorn Holiday Cottages, in the beautiful coastal resorts of Polperro and Looe, Cornwall.

My family go back generation in the Polperro and Looe area - And I am proud to promote our beautiful resorts to our visitors.

Living locally I am always on hand to offer help or advice should guest require any assistance whilst they are staying at our cottages.

Victoria Richardson purchased this cottage in 1960

Why Victoria Richardson chose South East Cornwall

My parents bought their first holiday cottage back in 1964. (Wow! - We have been established for just over 50 years now!)

They decided that as they loved the area so much, that they wanted to be able to share the beauty and charm of Polperro and Looe with others too.

I took the cottages over from my parents 10 years ago when they retired, and continue to pride myself on offering dependable - Quality, comfortable, clean accommodation.

We are annually inspected and approved by QIT (Quality in Cornwall) Your guarantee of a great place to stay!

This cottage is so pretty and unique, that author/TV presenter Judy Finnigan even has a character living in one of our Crumplehorn Cottages in her latest novel - I do not sleep.

We keep a copy of her novel in the cottage for guests to read during their holiday.

A beautifully poignant tale - set in Polperro.

What makes this cottage unique

This beautiful cottage is situated in the actual coastal resort of Polperro, it also has the added bonus of onsite private parking for your car (An absolute MUST in Polperro, where parking is at a premium, and expensive if you don't have carparking included)

Once you're at the cottage everything is just a short walk away, shops, Inns, cafes, restaurants, the harbour, beach and coastal paths - you can enjoy car free time in the resort.

This cottage is so pretty and unique, that author/TV presenter Judy Finnigan even has a character living in one of our Crumplehorn Cottages in her latest novel - I do not sleep.

A lovely cosy compact cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a week in this lovely cosy cottage. It has everything you need and on lovely sunny days after a good walk you can sit on the patio with a glass of wine and watch the world go by. We will definitely be returning.

Perfect Traditional Cornish Cottage Set In The Wonderful Village Of Polperro

  • 4 of 5

The cottage lives up to its traditional design and appearance of what you would expect from a Cornish cottage. Ideally located just outside the village at the entrance to the entrance road to Polperro and directly opposite the Crumplehorn Inn and Restaurant which is actually extremely convenient. The cottage has very traditional features and is generally well spaced and equipped for 4 persons. The cottage offers the true feeling of Cornwall and makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive.

Bedrooms are well spaced and handy with one double bedroom and a twin bedroom that makes it better when staying with family. The parking at the front is ideal and a great saving as parking is generally around £10 per day in Polperro otherwise. Located around 1.2 mile from the Polperro harbour but the walk down to the harbour offers time to sample the shops, restaurants and pubs along route. Handy that the bus stop is directly outside taking you to Looe or Liskard and onto Plymouth so ideal if you want to park up the car all week.

This is our 6th stay in Polperro in cottages and we love staying there as it is one of our favorite places.

From our point and experience there were a few disappointments that could have made the stay so much better. The kitchen houses a very small fridge with an ice box and not a fridge freezer. This would have been useful to know prior to having shopping delivered with both fresh refrigerated and frozen produce. Thus nowhere near enough space to store many of the items ordered so we ended up having a feast the first night and disposing of the rest. The cooker sits at the end of the kitchen counter pitched on a board which makes it a little unsteady and protrudes slightly over the door. Not ideal for those with Children and could be a safety issue. The exchange of fridge and cooker and addition of a fridge freezer would be so much better.

The lack of a small welcome pack of tea, sugar, milk and maybe a few scones was so disappointing as was the lack of items such as bin bags, toilet roll and soap in the bathroom and sinks as these are basics that are normally offered and taken as standard in all other places we have stayed in the village and thus was a bit of a downer from our part and something that could be learned by the owner.

Overall we loved the location and the aspects of the cottage and would happily stay here again, but the attention to detail by the owners would make the stay far better.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Mr Steele We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and would recommend the cottage to other guests. Your feedback about providing soap, and swapping the cooker and the fridge are good ideas - and I will call my electrician to take a look at that possibility - as it could work better. And we are always open to good suggestions, that will improve the cottages. For future guests, we do leave toilet roll, a bath mat, bathroom cleaning spray, a roll of internal bin liners, and the external bin at the cottage is lined with our private contractors sack - We also leave washing up liquid, tea towels, a dish cloth, a pan scrubber and wipe-down sprays for guests use during their stay. We also leave locally made boxed shortbreads and fresh flowers with a welcome letter - These are usually very popular with our guests upon arrival at the cottage.

Great location, lovely cottage..what more could you ask for?

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay here in this very clean, well equipped cottage at the edge of Polperro Village. We had ample room for the three of us plus our small dog and would be more than happy to return or indeed recommend to any of our family or friends. We did have a very small issue with the bath tap which was dealt with extremely promptly and without issue. The parking space was so convenient and saved us high car park fees. Polperro is beautiful and we were within a 5 minute walk to the beach and surrounding shops. The nearest pub, not that any are far away, was great, friendly and cooked us and our friends a mean Sunday roast. Can't fault the cottage or anything about the area and all it has to offer.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely Cosy cottage at the top of Polperro. We had a great time staying in this cottage.During the day we would go out and visit different places around Cornwall. In the evenings we would sit outside the cottage with a glass of wine before popping into the Crumplehorn Inn for dinner. We would then walk down into Polperro. Locals were very welcoming and pubs were all dog friendly. We will definitely book again. Thankyou!

Beautiful cottage and location esquisite views

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time that we had been to Cornwall and it is beautiful. Your cottage is gorgeous in a beautiful spot , just what we like. We will definitely be back. The crumple horn Inn is lovely especially their stroganoff, and Millys tapas. As it was our first time in Cornwall we explored it going to Mevagissey, Tintagel Castle, Padstow and loads of other villages but we loved Perranporth beach . See you again soon
