Overall good but a few reservations

  • 3 of 5

Three pensioners, three twenty somethings and our 2 year old grandson made up our party to celebrate my birthday.

No doubt Painswick is a magnificent holiday venue with lots of local interest and a good base from which to explore the Cotswolds, and the house is in a very convenient location. It is warm, well furnished and very comfortable. However we feel that certain aspects should be highlighted to potential clients:-

1) our most serious reservation....the house is simply not suitable for families with toddlers. Why? Because the garden has a wall 18inches high at best but with a twelve foot drop to the neighbouring property.

2) the kitchen is just not workable - tiny and on two levels separated by four steps, it is unsuitable for anyone with limited mobility and for the preparation of anything but the most basic of meals.

3) Customer information suggests on-site parking but doesn't indicate that there is space for just one car and that access to the house is down a very narrow street with cars parked almost permanently thus difficult to manoeuvre

4) As others have indicated, insufficient comfortable chairs to house more than 4/5 in the lounge and 6 for dinner. Seven would be pushing it a bit!

Other than that, all good....apart from the fact that the downstairs wet room shower doesn't easily drain!

Wonderful house in the Cotswolds

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this house for three weeks and enjoyed every minute. The house is warm and comfortable and Sandra was wonderful to work with. The location is excellent. We have rented dozens of VRBO homes over the many years, and this one is right up there with the best.

Gorgeous Queen Anne period house with exquisite furnishings and warm in winter

  • 4 of 5

Lovely stay for 3 nights just after Christmas 2016 - we took my in-laws as a treat for their 50th wedding anniversary and had great weather in a beautiful house. The walk up Painswick beacon is wonderful, even the two 70 somethings managed it!

No real complaints - the boiler was a bit tricksy to get started (just try turning on and off a few times till it goes), the kitchen is on the small side and the living room could do with more comfy seating for a group of 7, but otherwise all fine.
