About jacky gallagher

We live in Candleshoe a converted Herefordshire barn and the stables is adjacent to our house .

We converted it into a modern 2 bed house with unique character, having used wood from our land to build doors , windows and the stairs .

we are on an enclosed private 4 acre site with a small wooded area and a large ancient pond .

Guests are welcome to use the general garden area as are any guest dogs who would be welcomed enthusiastically by our own .

The village pub for excellent meals is a walk across the fields and the local shop is a 5 minute drive . Hereford is ten minutes away and Cardiff Cheltenham and Worcester are under an hour .

jacky gallagher purchased this cottage in 1993

Why jacky gallagher chose Hereford & Worcester

We wanted a big house and gardens and to live in the country.

It is easily accessible to town but very private

What makes this cottage unique

Beautiful gardens and historic settings .

Short drive to nearbye town and access to many old and interesting gardens and villages in the region .

Lovely stable conversion in fabulous grounds and everything you could need. Jackie was always on hand for recommendations, directions etc. Will have to return to see the surrounding area better as it was too hot with a dog to move away from under the umbrella in the pub garden!

Very welcoming hosts, and a lovely propert and environment.

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed for a week and we found the upstairs living space wonderfully spacious and quirky. The ensuite double bedroom is beautiful and the twin room is small but adequate, the real holiday was upstairs with great kitchen and living space. The grounds are lovely and just a short walk to a nice pub. Generally, Herefordshire is like Eden, plenty to do and proper countryside. Thanks.

Simply stunning: 10/10

I have waited some days since we stayed at the Stables to write this review, as I wanted to be sure I didn't forget to include something with which we might have not been 100% happy. No! And no, again. It was perfect. The location is sublime and the grounds meant our dogs were thrilled to have so much space and land outside the front door. The Stables itself is a wonderful house and we were constantly delighted to be staying somewhere that afforded such pleasure just because of the beauty of the actual building and the wealth of room available. Nothing is compromised on and the quality of decoration and furnishing is splendid. The house is lacking in nothing by way of modcons and the kitchen in particular is a terrific place to work in with extremely good quality appliances, in addition to being well equipped with plenty of utensils and equipment. The living area is enormous, lovely and comfortable with good lighting. The TV is excellent and the wifi is very good; strong and secure, a real bonus. We used only one of the two bedrooms on the ground floor which was very restful but, again, a good size and so we were never - even with the dogs - under each other's feet and we had plenty of storage space. The bathroom and shower are excellent and a really tasteful use of the age of the building with the modernity one likes in a holiday home. We have stayed at a number of places in the last few years and I can honestly say that this tops the list by some considerable distance. Had it been significantly more in price than we paid then we'd have still felt it value for money. But for what we paid it is quite simply unbeatable. Thank you to Jacky and we booked next year's Easter trip before we left this one!
