A lovely seaside retreat venue Rumpus Cottage is for anyone who needs time for self-reflection, time with their loves ones or time with their family. This quaint 3 storey cottage is nostalgically refurbished in decorative antique style to capture bygone age. The cottage is located on a quiet unmade no through road.The cottage is made of Purbeck stone with a traditional tiled roof. Original beamed ceilings throughout with huge romantic appeal, small and perfectly formed. The cottage has a honed Purbeck flagstone floor throughout the downstairs. Original sash windows and a huge old Purbeck stone fireplace which has been limed to preserve its authenticity. The fireplace is fitted with a crockery cupboard. This cottage has been refurbished, the bathroom and kitchen have been updated (both on ground floor) and the use of Farrow and Ball paints throughout. Furnished with antiques. The cottage has a small outside courtyard which accessible from the kitchen stable door. The courtyard is furnished with vintage style beer festival furniture and perennials.

There is on road parking directly outside the property for residents only. Wifi, bedlinen and towels are included.

There is a local shop and lovely old Black Swann Inn a few minutes walk away. The town and beach are very close and minutes from the cottage.

About Caroline Young

I spent many years as a child taking holidays in Swanage and have fond memories of swimming in the sea and exploring the Jurassic coastline. Visits to Tilly Whim Caves and the Globe at Durleston were a favourite and a must every holiday.

Swanage is a great place to escape and relax.

I enjoy spending time walking along the seafront and exploring new places in an around Swanage.

Why Caroline Young chose Swanage

A Grade II listed cottage with unique charm and original features especially the beams in the master bedroom sold the property to me.

The cottage dates back to the Georgian period and retains many original features.

It is situated in the oldest part of Swanage within walking distance to local amenities, the town centre and seafront.

Lovely Winter break

A lovely, warm and cosy little cottage for our Winter break. The place was spotless, and the beds really comfortable. A very short stroll to The Black Swan for a delicious dinner. Less than 10 minutes to the beach and all the amenities of Swanage. Would definitely stay again.
