About Lindsay Arnell

Lower Folds is owned by husband and wife Steve and Lindsay who live in the neighbouring county of Staffordshire. We have always loved visiting and walking in the Peak District.

We take great pride in being able to offer high quality holiday accommodation to our guests. We always endeavour to welcome guests personally to the cottage and we are on hand to offer advice on the local area and to respond to any events needing immediate attention.

As dog lovers ourselves, we don't believe that you should have to compromise on the quality and comfort of your accommodation in order to bring your dog with you on holiday.

We look forward to welcoming you to Lower Folds.

Lindsay Arnell purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Lindsay Arnell chose Derbyshire Dales

We had searched for the perfect property in the Peak District for many years.

Our criteria was simple but surprisingly difficult to satisfy.

The cottage had to:

- be in the National Park

- be within walking distance of a good "foodie" pub or restaurant

- have its own private garden to provide a secure environment for young families and dogs

- and have its own parking so that you don't have to spend your precious holiday time hunting for a space.

We stumbled across Lower Folds in Over Haddon on one of our many walks and knew immediately that it was the one for us.

We think it's perfect to unwind and relax and we hope you will too.

What makes this cottage unique

Lower Folds is conveniently located in the quiet village of Over Haddon yet only 2.5 miles from the all the shops, restaurants and amenities offered in Bakewell.

Over Haddon overlooks the National Nature Reserve of Lathkill Dale, one of the most beautiful dales in the Peak District.

Within walking distance of Lower Folds is the CAMRA awarding winning Lathkil Hotel serving excellent food and a wide selection of real ales, ciders, lagers and wines. Also within walking distance of Lower Folds is the Garden Tea Rooms serving hot drinks and sumptuous home made cakes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Couldn't ask for more from start to finish. Warm and friendly greeting to a beautiful cottage, tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean with facilities that were second to none. Highly recommended.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful area. The cottage was very well equipped & tastefully decorated. Some nice touches from the owners too, leaving bread, milk, butter & other essentials. Lovely quiet village with a good pub round the corner.

Great Property in a beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to the Peak District and my wife and I were not disappointed. We were met on arrival to Lower Folds by the owner Lindsay who turned out to be the perfect host for the introduction as no stone was left unturned regarding information. A much appreciated welcome pack was also provided.

We were aiming to do some walking and were pleased to find out there were a number of walks from our doorstep which we took advantage of. The property is very close to Bakewell, which we now know to be a very pretty town and definitely worth a visit, and not far away from Chatsworth which was also taken advantage of. All in all we had a brilliant few days in a new region for us, in the perfect property and location. I would recommend Lower Folds to anyone and we most certainly wouldn't hesitate to book again for a return visit.

Many thanks to Lindsay for bringing such a lovely property to the holiday market.

Perfect week

  • 5 of 5

Had a perfect week in Lower Folds. Arrived late and Lindsay was there to greet us with tea and biscuits, most welcome after long journey from Edinburgh.

Cottage was beautifully decorated and very comfortable and in a perfect location for exploring the Peak District and spending time with grandson.

Weather was very kind to us and the evenings were spent sitting outside with some wine and nibbles, enjoying the bird song and sunset.

Lindsay was very welcoming and helpful. She had thought of everything we could possibly need. The house instantly felt like home. Our daughter loved the sheep theme. The location was perfect for accessing Bakewell and nearby walks and pubs.
