No need for a car as everything you need can be reached on foot but a perfect location for touring if you prefer sight seeing within easy access to Iskele, Kyrenia, Nicosia and Karpaz with trouble free boarder crossing, should you wish to tour the South of Cyprus. Just to add icing to the cake the use of the Turkish lira brings Turkey prices making this a great value place to visit, where our guests can afford to get the most out of their break by eating out (a bonus for the cook). An easy 45 minutes from Larnaca airport.
I live in England with my Partner. I have Turkish Cypriot roots, I can speak fluent Turkish and my father was born in the Walled City of Famagusta. My partner and I visited the place and unknown to both of us we purchased a house in the street that my uncle and aunt live in. My family were delighted to hear of the news.
Shenis Hassan purchased this house in 2007
We fell in love with the historic city, we were warmly welcomed by all the neighbours, by my many relatives and of course the Turkish Cypriot People. The refurbishment of the house has been a labour of love by us and the community.
The property is just five minutes walk from historic buildings, museum, restaurants, bars, banks, shops, beach, the marina, etc. There is generally little need for a car hire or taxi as the house is very central. Fully air conditionednewly modernised and fully equipped with a suntrap private walled garden which is very quiet and spacious with olive and fruit trees. There is a tiled covered gazebo area allowing barbecues to be used all year round and sun lounges with umbrellas.
Lovely house and private courtyard. Everything we needed at hand.
Kitchen large and well equipped for eating in. Town centre five mins walk with selection of restaurants.
Car hire easy and cheap. Spectacular castles and Greco/Roman ruins to see.
Good supermarkets outside town walls.
A lovely place to use as a jump off point to explore Cyprus. In the city walls, close to great restaurants, short car trip to amazing places. Rent a car to get around.
We booked to stay in this delightful house 2 days before we arrived,we were greeted with a welcome breakfast pack which was great as we arrived very late evening,Chris popped road in the morning to greet us and to give us all the information we may need, the house was very clean and had everything you could possibly ask for in a holiday let,the house is very close to shops and restaurants and 10-15 min walk to one of the best beachs in famagusta,we stayed in the first week of October and the weather was just wonderful, you have a lovely garden which is a sun trap from 9am - 2pm great if you like sun bathing as I do.Shenis the owner is great couldn't help enough, thank you ,we are hoping to return to this lovely place in June 2017 for a family wedding .
We were looking for a quiet peaceful holiday and that is exactly what we got. The house is situated in a very quiet residential street, five minutes walk to the town square where there are shops and restaurants where you can try traditional Cypriot meals.
The house is very clean and spacious and has everything you would ever want or need. There is a wonderful courtyard garden which is a little suntrap and if you are anything like me and love to sunbathe then this is ideal for you. If you dont want to go out in the evening you can buy in an assortment of meats and cook them on the stone barbecue and eat in the barbecue area at the top of the garden.
The beach is about 15 - 20 minutes walk but if you have young children then I would recommend a taxi - Tanner the local taxi driver will take you anywhere you want to go and come back and collect you.
The owner of the property is extremely accommodating and will go the extra mile to assist. The property Manager leaves you a breakfast pack for the morning of your arrival which we felt was a very welcome idea. She will also make sure you know everything there is to know, how to get to places how to hire a car etc etc. There are a variety of leaflets and instructions on different tourist spots for you to read which we found very helpful.
I would highly recommend this property if you are looking for something quiet, peaceful and a home away from home.
Coast/Beach:
The marine and beach is a short walk away, approximately 20 minutes .
Travel:
Ercan airport in the North of Cyprus and Larnaca in the South of Cyprus are both about an hours drive from the airports. A car is not strictly necessary if you want to relax in the city or a nearby beach. If you are feeling adventurous you could hire a car from Larnaca airport or Ercan, or taxi it to Famagusta and hire locally.
