As the name would suggest, the Barn House is a recently converted Barn. It has a fabulous open floor to ceiling vaulted sitting room with a flagstone floor and woodburning stove. The bedroom is on a mezzanine which looks over this beautiful room and also leads out onto a balcony which overlooks the lovely gardens and pool. There is a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar.
Only a day's drive from the Channel ports, Le Bêtet is an oasis of calm and tranquillity nestled in the heart of the beautiful Gascon countryside. Until ten years ago the property was a working farm, and the owners have worked hard to keep the look and feel of the traditional architecture, while installing plenty of 21st century comforts. The Chai is a converted wine-store, offering flexible accommodation for two to four people. Guests can step straight out from the living room onto their own private terrace. The Barn House also sleeps two to four and features a galleried sleeping area with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. Both properties have internet and Freeview English Television. A short stroll away across the lawns is a 12 metre swimming pool, heated mid-May to mid-September; while those looking for a longer walk can follow the paths around the woods and fields for over an hour without leaving the property. But peaceful surroundings don’t have to mean there is nothing to do! The local town of Eauze is only fifteen minutes drive away. The ancient capital of Gascony, it features a lovely medieaval square as well as plenty of modern shops, restaurants and supermarkets. The Thursday market is without doubt the best in the area and the summer months offer a seemingly limitless round of festivals, antiques fairs and exhibitions. Food lovers will know that Gascony is the home of foie gras and armagnac, and both can be savoured and bought from local producers. Further afield, Toulouse and Bordeaux are just two hours away and a day trip to the Pyrenees is easily done.
Whilst we don't allow pets, visitors should be aware that there is a dog, cat, chickens (no Cockerels!) and three ponies on the property. A housesitter resides quietly in the main house and is available to help with any queries.
This is a non-smoking property. No smoking is allowed inside or outside the buildings.
We are an English Family who bought Le Betet 11 years ago. Over the years we have loving restored the 16th century farmhouse and two of the originals barns into comfortable gites. It has been our family home for 8 years, but we are currently working in Brussels, so we are able to offer the gites for holiday rentals.
Sarah Rogerson purchased this barn in 2004
We bought Le Betet as a wonderful family home. We chose this part of France for the beautiful countryside and the gastronomy! Being only two hours from the sea, the Pyrenees and Bordeaux who could really ask for more!
The property is set within its own 27 hectares so peace and quiet is guaranteed! The two gites are set around the farmhouse, yet each has its own privacy. The gardens are large and merge into fields and woodland. The 12m x 6 m pool is heated and you can shade yourself under the walnut trees, or samply fresh figs growing overhead as lie by the pool. You can walk for a hour without leaving the property. However, if you wish to do so, the town of Eauze is only 10 minutes drive away. It has wonderful facilities for a small town, boasting a selection of restaurants, a huge LeClerc supermarket and the best local market in the area.

There are two bio (organic produce) shops, hairdressers, pharmacies and a Post Office. Nearby vineyards which are open to visitors include Pellehaut and Tariquet. There are numerous small armagnac producers.
