Via Chiaia it is one of the most famous and elegant streets of Naples, one of the favorite destinations for the city shopping, numerous boutiques and quaint shops, but also picturesque views and places of historical and architectural interest.

If you find yourself in Piazza del Plebiscito, the walk along Via Chiaia is an alternative and enjoyable way to get to the Riviera di Chiaia.

It begins thus Square Triesto and Trento, at the famous Gambrinus coffee (which has its own address Via Chiaia 1), and from there you start to walk the path. After a few meters on the left we see a large open space overlooking the Piazza del Plebiscito, from which we can see a part of the colonnade of the Church of San Francesco di Paola.

Continuing between boutique clothing, leather goods shops and typical products will reach, on the right side at the corner of Salita Sant'Anna di Palazzo where you will find the famous Antica Pizzeria Brandi, that of Margherita pizza. In this pizzeria you can read, exposed in one of its rooms, a letter of thanks of the Italian Queen Margherita di Savoia. The letter, dated 1889, was sent by the Queen to the chef Raffaele Esposito Brandi ancestor of the family, to attest its estimate and confirm to him that the "three quality Pizzas She packed for Her Majesty the Queen were found very good." One of the three pizzas, created appositamete for the visit of the Queen, now bears his name, or the Pizza Margherita.

Continuing along Via Chiaia, chiramente stands the imposing building of the Chiaia Bridge (built in 1636), which connects the hill of Pizzofalcone with that of Mortelle to the Spanish quarters. In the left pillar of the bridge there is an elevator that connects the Mount of God (on the hill of Pizzofalcone). The work of the bridge in the returned set of changes designed by the architect Domenico Fontana at the beginning of the seventeenth century to give way to its present appearance. The road first followed the natural channel rainwater that flowed between the two hills and have been a means of connection between the city and the area Flegrei not yet urbanized.

Continuing the journey after the bridge there, framed by an arch, the picturesque alley stairway of Sant'Arpino, a very nice area, photographic reason for many tourists, and finally ilPalazzo Cellammare, right at the road end of Piazza Santa Caterina. The building, built in the sixteenth century by Abbot Francesco Carafa, is rich in history and is also remembered because in the seventeenth century it was attacked by the people in the revolt of Masaniello. In the twentieth century it was also inhabited by the great mathematician Renato Caccioppoli.

In Piazza Santa Caterina a Chiaia street ends, but the walk can continue the stylish Via dei Mille, or the Riviera di Chiaia after attraversatola beautiful Martyrs Square
