About Christine Saunders

I purchased this cottage so that I could enjoy somewhere to visit and enjoy holidays and weekends by the sea. Working full time in Sheffield, the cottage offers a peaceful retreat close to the coast in a tranquil part of Lincolnshire. I hope you enjoy staying there as much as I do.

Why Christine Saunders chose East Lindsey

I love the location of the property in particular i.e. so close to the sea - but also the setting is delightful with a private and enclosed garden that attracts birds and the wildlife.

What makes this cottage unique

Being able to walk to sandy coastal walks within a few minutes of leaving the cottage is brilliant - my dog loves it.

Just spent a lovely five days at Beach Cottage.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean and inviting on arrival. We was pleasantly surprised with the standard and thought the cottage was so pretty. The large garden was fantastic for our three dogs. Christine answered our queries quickly during the booking process even allowing us to take an extra dog with us. The cottage is located ideally for day trips to Mablethorpe, Cleethorpes and Louth. Had a great break can't wait to come back. X

A beautfully maintained, restful cottage.

  • 5 of 5

A very impressive holiday cottage, spotlessly clean and very well equipped, with ample parking and a tidy inviting garden. We spent a very enjoyable week there visiting the many attractions of the area. We would particularly recommend the Fishing Heritage Centre in Grimsby and beach and Seal Sanctuary in Mablethorpe. Chris responded very quickly to our emails and did everything she could to ensure a perfect holiday for us. We are hoping to return later in the year to see the seals and their pups at Donna Nook. Thank you very much Chris.

Owner's Response: Hello Thank you so much for such a lovely review of my property. I have tried to ensure the cottage is as welcoming as possible so that it contributes to an enjoyable holiday experience. Your information on local attractions is also well received - I wasn't aware of the attraction in Grimsby - so will add it to information provided for guests. Thank you once again for taking the time to write a review.

a beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

the cottage was very well presented, and very comfy. The location is very close to Saltfleet Beach which was ideal for our dog walks. It is well maintained and very clean. The owner replied to all my emails and provided a very good customer service and even when I notified her on the day that my son had decided to come down she was ok about this and thanked me for letting her know. There were plenty of books, games and dvd's to keep us occupied during the evening and when that wasn't enough the local pubs are a short walk down the road into the village. The only thing negative was there wasn't a mop but other than that it was like home from home a credit to its owner

Owner's Response: Hello Hilary Thank you so very much for writing such a lovely review. I was going to get in touch with you to thank you for leaving my cottage in such a lovely condition - it hardly looked used. I'm really glad you enjoyed your break. I'm working out a way of getting and storing a mop somewhere - the cottage has very little storage space but I really appreciate such constructive feedback and want to address it. Thanks again for booking my cottage and for providing such a lovely review. Chris

Lovely, well decorated little cottage

  • 4 of 5

I thought this cottage was well decorated and welcoming with lovely decor and a secure back garden for our elderly Westie with a gate onto the lane at the back, ideal for dog walking and close to the beach in Saltfleet.

The only downside, we thought, was that the weather was rather cold for May and the background heating was not sufficient to heat the cottage adequately. Also, there wasn't enough hot water for a bath or shower. I would have preferred a gas fire instead of the log burner as we didn't feel we were staying long enough to bother to light this.

Other than this, we enjoyed our stay and will probably visit again in the future

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review Rosalind - I really appreciate it. For info - I have already arranged for an additional heater to be installed in the living area of the cottage during the autumn. Unfortunately, the area is not serviced with mains gas, therefore the log burner - which most guests enjoy using - cannot be converted to gas. Regarding the provision of hot water, there is limited space for a large hot water storage unit, however, as the cottage has an electric shower over the bath, unless you were unfortunate enough to experience a power cut, there should have been an adequate supply of hot water for your showers. I'm glad you liked the decor - I have tried to make the cottage as homely and as possible - and yes, I fully agree with your comments regarding location - I take my dog to the cottage frequently and she loves the walks on the coast. Once again - thank you for taking the time to write a review.

The cottage is located a two minute walk from the coast offering a marshland/sandy area for walks and a small sandy bay. The sea itself is some 10 minutes walk out across marshland and sand. The cottage is located on the edge of the pretty village of Saltfleet. Nearby places of interest include:

Further Details:

There is a small, general store in Saltfleet - which also provides fuel and garage services. Nearby villages also offer general stores. Larger supermarkets and banks are available in Louth (15 minutes drive away) and Cleethorpes (35 minutes drive away).

There is a public house in Saltfleet (The Crown Inn) which offers good home-cooked meals at very reasonable prices. Chinese, Indian and Italian restaurants are also available in near-by villages - which also offer take-away meals which can be delivered. A Fish and Chip shop is also located in Saltfleet itself.
