About Chris and Jayne

Lavender cottage is owned by Chris and Jayne who live in Derbyshire.

We first came across The Bay in 2011 after taking a day off work to walk our German short-haired pointer along the beach from Hunmanby Gap to Filey to have some of the town's famous fish and chips. On seeing The Bay we fell in love with the place straight away.

We bought the cottage in late 2011 and have added many extras to make the cottage a real home from home and to ensure your holiday is as enjoyable as possible.

We visit the cottage as often as we can to escape everyday life as it's a great place to relax and unwind. We hope you enjoy the comfort of our cottage and enjoy the superb facilities that The Bay has on offer.

If you have any questions please get in touch.

Chris and Jayne purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Chris and Jayne chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

We know the area well from family holidays and we've had many lovely times visiting the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and roaming the surrounding moors. The area has something for everyone from stunning scenery and glorious stretches of sand to family-friendly seaside resorts and tiny fishing villages.

The cottage is new and modern but with a traditional look that blends into the surroundings. It provides a peaceful retreat with plenty of on-site facilities. The beach, wild flower meadow, lakes and facilities such as a leisure centre, swimming pool and pub are all a short walk away.

The location is within easy access to Filey, the North Yorkshire Moors, bustling towns of Scarborough and Bridlington and a bit further afield Whitby and York.

What makes this cottage unique

In all seasons it's a great place to get away from it all. It has a very relaxed feel but there is plenty to do if that's what you prefer.

A stroll along the beach, dip in the indoor heated swimming pool, and drink in the pub are all a short walk away. The Bay is a safe family friendly environment with 24 hour on-site security.

The cottage is in a great location with open aspect and sunny terrace. It's well decorated, furnished and has everything you need. We've also left a selection of books, DVDs, Wii, board games and beach accessories for our guests to use.

5 Star First Class Little Gem

  • 5 of 5

Lavender Cottage is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. Although in a complex the design means you are never aware there are other people around. It is maintained to a very high standard everything is very clean and the furnishings and linens are good quality. The cottage is so warm and cosy and comfortable a home from home to us and we have returned each year. There is everything you need in the kitchen with good quality crockery, pans etc and plenty of them and a dishwasher too!

We have never yet used the facilities in the complex but they look good and the people seem very friendly and helpful.

The beach is just fabulous! Mile upon mile of sand and sea, long walks where you hardly meet anyone. The short walks around the complex are also nice and well maintained and clean with good paths.

We'll be back again next year please.

A very happy holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a very happy and enjoyable week in Lavender Cottage. The Cottage is clean and cosy and we love the seaside themed decor. We took our 4 month old son for his first holiday and the cottage was like a home from home and had everything we needed. Highly recommend a stay here- we hope to return!

We would certainly recommend Lavender Cottage.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is beautiful, very clean, tastefully furnished and well equipped. Jayne and Chris have thought of everything including toys to take to the beach!

The Bay is ideally situated between Filey and Bridlington. The complex is well designed and the facilities are good. We loved an early morning swim in the pool and an afternoon visit to the John Paul Jones pub.

We enjoyed lovely walks along the beach to Filey and along the cliff tops around Flamborough.

Lavender Cottage is a gem and we look forward to our next visit.

Pleasant stay at lavender cottage

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 days at lavender cottage, myself, my husband and our two boys 5 & 3, just before schools started back. All four of us throughly enjoyed ourselves, the cottage itself is excellently equipped, I had taken everything with us, even down to foil for the kitchen, but this was all provided, Chris & Jayne really have thought of everything , this really is a home away from home. The facilities onsite are very useful, especially the pool when the ŵeather is a little more inclement. Occasionally depending on the time you went to use the pool, there may be a small wait, but to be honest this never bothered us. If you don't want to wait, use the pool outside of peak times, i.e. first thing or later on in the evening. We tried the fish and chip shop in Hunamby, which was lovely, and a good recommendation from Chris & Jayne, as ŵell as the onsite pub and Lorenzo's for ice cream. We also took our boys to the York train museum, with it not being too far away, which they enjoyed and it's well worth a visit. Also the bus into Filey was good fun for them and then we walked back along the beach to The Bay, which was possibly 3/4miles. This did obviously take us a while with their legs being somewhat smaller than ours, but the sand castle building along the way kept them entertained. All in all we would throughly recommend staying here, I'm sure even in winter you would find plenty to do, we will hopefully be returning before we are unable to fit in the cottage as a family any longer, as we are expecting our third child next year.

Wow! What a great find.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have just spent a 3 night break at Lavender Cottage, which is situated towards the entrance to the site, with our 7 & 9 year old Granddaughters.

The cottage has a lovely layout, was spotlessly clean with stylish contemporary décor and a well equipped kitchen and has a really nice relaxing feel to the place. There was a lot of thought put in by the owners to the requirements of a family on a beach holiday. Our grandchildren had great delight looking through the beach box, the games and the books.

The cottage is a credit to the owners and the company who clean the cottage. The photos on the website do not do it justice.

We intend to return to the cottage in the future as a couple and our granddaughters have informed us they want us to take them again next year. We loved it so much none of us wanted to leave.

The site itself is well laid out with clean and tidy garden and bin areas and although this is a dog friendly site we only encountered one thoughtless dog owner who forgot to take their poo bag. The site appeared to be very quiet, certainly where we were located, with a pleasant 20 minute walk to the sea.

The pool was good but we did not use the Pub or restaurants as we ate a hearty lunch out each day.

The Bay is a great place to stay for visiting Scarborough and Whitby and the Park and Ride for both these places is easy to get to and cheaper than trying to find parking in the towns, especially during school holidays. Filey being a smaller resort doesn’t appear to have a P&R but there was no problem finding a space at the car park near the Golf Course.
