Cottage in Sidmouth Town Centre, 2 Minutes Walk to The Beach, Shops, Pubs and Restaurant
About Lizzy Buttle
Alex is the third generation in his family to have been born and raised in Sidmouth. Alex and his wife Lizzy now live in London, but are keen to maintain their connections with Sidmouth so that their own children can still appreciate this wonderful town. Alex's parents still live and work here and relish visits from their grandchildren who also love their holidays by the sea!
Lizzy Buttle purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Lizzy Buttle chose Sidmouth
We wanted to buy a house that was near the town centre and beach as this really is the best location when holidaying in Sidmouth! Being able to step outside your door and walk to the seafront rather than worrying about where to park is priceless. Being in town, it is so convenient to be able to pop out to all the wonderfully unique shops and boutiques in Sidmouth, not to mention the array of quaint cafes, fine restaurants and traditional pubs. The cottage is also close to The Byes - a peaceful and shady riverside walk when you want to get away from it all.
What makes this Cottage unique
Golden Cottage is centrally located so it is convenient for all local amenities. The cottage benefits from it's own private parking space right outside the front door which is invaluable as finding parking near the shops, restaurants and beach can otherwise be difficult and expensive. The cottage is just two minutes walk from both the beach and the high street, so once you arrive at Golden Cottage you can forget the car and spend your holiday enjoying all the many delights of the town and seafront on foot.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Lovely cottage by the sea.
Excellent location and superbly appointed for a relaxing long weekend break.
Amazing holiday and perfect accommodations!
Property owner thought of everything! From the convenient washing machine to the warmth of a fire on those rainy nights in Southern England..and a nice “welcome” gift of local cider and cookies! The property was very clean and bright and close to all of the charming shops in the village. Couldn’t have asked for a better holiday!
Beautiful cottage in a perfect location.
There was everything you could wish for. My mum particularly enjoyed soaking up the sun on the kitchen sofa. The location is quiet but within very easy reach of the town. The drive is wide and easy to navigate. Lots to do in the town and surrounding areas. Please book ahead if you want to go out for a meal on a Saturday night (even in April).
Thank you so much for your lovely review - we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay so much and we very much look forward to welcoming you back again next time you are in Sidmouth! Kind regards, Lizzy and Alex.

Great place to stay
Very clean. Big bathroom, bedrooms were perfect, kitchen diner was lovely to eat in and the lounge was a good size. Perfect location. And a parking spot, which makes a real difference. No negatives whatsoever. The booking was managed very efficiently too.

The Esplanade and nearest beach are just two minutes walk from your front door. Sidmouth beaches are varied and fascinating. The main beach is shingle, perfect for hiring a deckchair and gazing out to sea. Walking a few minutes west brings you to Jacobs Ladder beach - popular with families where vast swathes of sand await you. As the tide retreats, numerous rock pools appear providing hours of entertainment for both the young and the young at heart!
Exeter Airport is 11 miles away, the train station a little further on. The nearest train station is Honiton, 10 miles away. Sidmouth is served by a frequent and reliable bus service to both Exeter and Honiton along with the surrounding villages.
The cathedral city of Exeter is 16 miles away and there are many interesting and historic coastal towns such as Topsham, Lyme Regis, Beer, Seaton and Budleigh Salterton are within easy driving distance. Many picturesque villages such as Branscombe and Otterton are also nearby.
The historic Regency town of Sidmouth has an impressive array of sights and activities to offer all tastes and and in all seasons. The beach is obviously a big draw but there is so much more. Admire the award winning floral displays in the public gardens. Catch Sidmouth town band live every Sunday evening at Connaught Gardens during the summer months or watch a play at Manor Pavillion theatre. Sidmouth's annual Folk Week and Regatta in August are hugely popular, followed by the carnival in September. If you visit over Christmas time, be sure to catch the annual Boxing Day swim.
Stocking up with groceries is easy - there are supermarkets around the corner plus a large Waitrose towards the outskirts of town. If you would rather eat out, you will find all palates are catered for by the many wonderful restaurants and pubs - all within walking distance of the cottage. For fine dining options, the Victoria, Belmont and Westcliff hotels offer something a bit more special. You can easily lose a day browsing the unique and varied shops and boutiques along the High Street, Church Street and Old Fore Street. If you are feeling a bit more active, Sidmouth Swimming Pool is very close whilst a pleasant walk or cycle ride along the river brings you to the Leisure Centre where holiday memberships are available.
