The Old Granary is a beautiful stone built barn and was once used for thrashing and storing corn. This sympathetically converted barn with granite steps and beautiful oak flooring and stairway is the perfect place for a family reunion, or just a get together with friends. The large open plan living area upstairs with its rustic charm and comfy sofas also offers magnificent river and country views over the Fowey estuary. The superb equipped oak kitchen has an oil fired rayburn and an electric cooker. All the bedrooms are en-suite and stylish. Outside you can sit and relax with a glass of wine on the decked walkway or sit on the patio to enjoy your evening barbeque.
If you're looking for a holiday location that offers something a little different, then look no further than the idyllic setting of Penquite Farm. It's the perfect place to stay for a relaxing enjoyable holiday. Hands on animal feeding is always very popular and there is a games room and trampoline. There is so much to do around the area with lots of different river activities, kayaking, fishing, sailing, river trips, local beaches and coastal paths to walk. Bedrooms are ensuite and cots available. You'll love it ! Local Pub & restaurant in the village.
My husband (John) and I have lived and farmed here all our lives. We, of course, have help from our wonderful and beautiful springer spaniel called Tom. He loves people and is very good with children.
We are very fortunate to live in such a wonderful location overlooking the Fowey River and in a peaceful riverside village with a local pub within walking distance. We do try and sample the ale at least once a week! We are also very fortunate to live beside a beautiful 13th Century Church (some visitors think we actually own the Church) but of course we don't !
We love our way of life and our idyllic location and we'd love your Company - so come and join us for a wonderful week away from it all and relax and enjoy a home-made Cornish Cream tea on your arrival.
I spent a lovely week in August in the Old Granary at Penquite Farm with my husband our two sons, their wives and three granddaughters aged seven, six and four. In Candice K review, who had a holiday in Feb 2016 at the Old Granary has written everything we enjoyed at the Old Granary, we had the luck to be able to enjoy the very large garden and the girls had fun in the play area. It is true it is the best 'holiday cottage' we also have ever stayed in and plans to add a pool, that would be the icing on the cake. We had tears from the girls as we left but we will be back. Many thanks Ruth and John.
Our family party of two adults and five children have recently returned from a five night stay in the Old Granary at Penquite Farm and it was absolutely brilliant. The farm is in a beautiful location with the river Fowey in the valley below and the lovely ancient church across the driveway. The owner Ruth was a wonderful, kind and generous host- we were welcomed to the Granary with a lovely vase of flowers, homemade cream tea as well as delicious local bacon and sausages (to add to the fresh eggs that the children collected every day). Ruth came to say hello and talked us through everything as well as inviting the children to join in with feeding the animals each morning - she even offered us some spare wellies! My daughter enjoyed helping so much I think she would like to stay there forever! The living area was huge and tremendously comfortable and gave us the chance to enjoy some much appreciated family time. The children absolutely loved the reclining sofas! The dining area and kitchen were really well equipped and it was great to have a table large enough for us all to sit round for meals and board games. All of the bedrooms were comfortable, immaculate and each had their own spotless bathroom which was fantastic. The garden was lovely- we didn't use it much because of the weather but I can imagine it being lots of fun! The games room was wonderful for the teenagers and we really appreciated the opportunity to have a go at ringing the church bell (thank you Ruth!). It really is the best 'holiday cottage' we've ever stayed in and we'll be saving for a return visit, especially now that we hear there are plans to add a swimming pool!
