“Below Decks” is a completely refurbished 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Garden flat situated on The Parade in the heart of Swanage. Although it does not have a sea view, adventurous visitors can hop up the step into the light well window seats at the seafront side of the apartment and pop their heads out of one of the hatch windows for a sea view ...or even sit there whilst enjoying their morning coffee and the view (parked cars permitting!).

The entrance to the flat is at the rear of the building where It has its own Patio Garden Deck with picnic bench, dedicated Parking for 2 cars plus an outhouse/utility room with Washing machine and toilet, where you can store bikes etc.

Central for all shops, the Theatre and Cinema are next door but one, and the beach is around 100 metres away.

Bedroom 1 has a king sized double bed, 100% cotton bedding (throughout the flat), en-suite walk in shower with toilet and washbasin, and an opening hatch window with window seat. Towels for use in the flat are provided.

Bedroom 2 has a king sized double bed and two hatch windows with window seats, one of which opens.

Bedroom 3 has a single bed and a 'Captains Bunk' with a large window opening onto the rear.

The lounge has a smart modern and fully equipped kitchen area at one end. This includes a dishwasher, fridge with freezing compartment, oven\ microwave and ceramic hob. The dining dining table seats six people. There are two generous comfy settees and a rocking chair plus a chair-bed for an optional extra bed space, Smart TV with You View and a blue ray player plus Wii for the kids. and a collection of board games. The family bathroom has a 'P' bath with thermostatic shower and toilet. We have gas fired central heating throughout.

Annie is a musician running singing groups and teaching oboe, who also runs Painting Tuition from her own studio.

Notes on accommodation: We have endeavoured to create a home from home and wish our guests to feel relaxed and rejuvenated by their stay with us. The flat is ideal for families and is set up to cater for them, but also for anyone wishing to have a holiday not dependant on driving. Everything in town is within minutes reach. We don't have sea views, however we do have "hatch windows" to two of the bedrooms where if you are feeling adventurous you can climb onto the window seats and look out to sea. The flat has full gas central heating so can be a cosy hideout in winter as well as summer. One consideration we ask of guests is that as we have a Sani flow system (our water is pumped up into drains higher than the flat) nothing but loo paper goes down the loo. Wet Wipes of any kind are a disaster! Outside: We have a modest patio garden with a picnic bench for sitting out. There is also space to park a dingy and rubber rings etc. There is parking for two cars. Utility Room: Third loo, sink and washing Machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: 100 percent cotton linen and towels are provided for indoor use. (Guests are requested not to use these on the beach etc.) The flat is cleaned either at the end of your stay or weekly; whichever happens first.

Lovely apartment in the centre of Swanage!

We had a fantastic 3 night stay in this lovely, immaculate apartment in Swanage, it was my husband and I with our 3 children (1, 4 & 6). There was everything we needed, along with fresh bread, butter, milk, tea & coffee on arrival, there were cosy & freshly made beds and clean towels, we could not have wanted for more.

The children loved our evening gaming on the Wii and with YouView we could watch anything we wanted after a day on the beach. We were close to the amenities so it was easy to nip back with the children if needed and the tea room next door was a perfect stop for a coffee and amazing cakes most mornings.

We cooked in the apartment and the combination oven was a dream and so quick which is perfect especially on holiday!

There was no view of the sea but upon opening the clever roof windows we could see it and sit there as if on a balcony, very clever! The children loved saying hello to all passers by. These windows meant it was never dark in the apartment and provided great natural light.

All in all a great stay and we hope to come back soon!

Comfortable and welcoming flat close to the sea front

Below Decks is well furnished with all the equipment you need to enjoy a week by the seaside. The beds are comfortable and our children love the twin room. The owners are close at hand if you have any questions about the flat or local area.

Great flat for a family beach holiday being central to all amenities.

Very well appointed and worked well for grand parents, parents and toddler. Only requirement was to place cleaning products at a higher level so that made the holiday relaxing. Outside space is small but adequate. Parking tight for two vehicles but it can be done.

Wonderful flat in an ideal position

The property is very comfortable and couldn't be better placed for exploring Swanage. The whole property was very well equipped and presented. It was completely as described in the advert and the fact it had parking was a bonus. We would definitely not hesitate in returning to it again and we had good communication with the owners too.

Lovely flat.

We had a super time at this lovely basement flat in the heart of Swanage. Very comfortable and beautifully presented accommodation. This turned out to be a great experience with the added bonus of fine weather. We would love to return next year.

Special interest holidays:

I provide Painting breaks from my Studio in North Swanage. Any skill level welcome, and a variety of media available to choose. I also take people out on location if they wish to work outside.


The sea is approximately 30 feet away! The safe sandy beach is about 100yards away. This is swanage beach. Around the chalk cliffs and past Old Harry Rocks the next bay is the great golden sweep of Studland beach. Around the other way and you have the limestone cliffs and sea quarries that form part of Swanage's stone heritage.


Bournemouth and Southampton airports are both within reach. From Southampton you walk from the airport exit straight onto the station platform at Southampton Parkway. From here you get a train to Poole Bournemouth or Wareham There are bus links from all these to Swanage. Travel from London takes proximately two and a half to three hours by car and much the same by train from Waterloo and bus.


Corfe Castle 4 miles, Swanage Steam railway 3 minute walk, Durdle Door and Lulworth and Castle, approx 15 miles, Studland beach, 2miles, Monkey World and Bovington tank Museum, around 15 miles. Brownsea Island approx 5 miles plus boat trip. Arne bird reserve, 10miles, Durlston Country park and Jurrassic coast centre, 3 miles.

Further Details:

Swanage is full of little Galleries, beach shops, restaurants galore, and all manner of Crafts, Jewellery and clothes shops. Fabulous hand made chocolates at Chococo are not to be missed.

There is a Diving School on Swanage Pier, Sailing tuition available at Studland and general boat pottering, Wind surfing, Rock climbing, great Mountain bike routes off road and endless ravishing Walks.

Booking Notes:
Half payment is due when booking with the remainder due one month before stay commences. We ask for a £100 deposit against any damages or loss of keys, this is due with the second payment. We return it to you immediately after your stay.
Please make sure you have holiday insurance as if your holiday is cancelled after being fully paid for it may not be refundable. We would however refund it if it were possible to relet the flat.

Changeover Day:
We usually change over on a Saturday however there is some flexibility.

Short out of season breaks are available:

Mon Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday nights....£350

Half with booking and balance one month before visit. Security deposit can be a cheque which we will not bank (unless necessary) and if unused we will tear it up or return it to you if preferred
