Pitlochry Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms (double, twin), sleeps 4/5/6 plus cot, free wifi

Welcome to Tulach, from the Gaelic meaning 'hill'. Tulach is a detached cedar wood chalet-style cottage with two bedrooms - a double and a twin. We have just completed a refurbishment over the winter 2015/16. Have a look at our video - Further videos will follow shortly.

We were always proud of our cosy cottage but we have made changes that enhance the views and have upgraded throughout. Soak in the views from our beautiful extended eat-in kitchen with large windows - with a coffee in the morning and perhaps a wee dram in the evening. The kitchen is fully fitted with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. The living room benefits from an open fire, double aspect picture windows, comfy sofa, wifi, TV with satellite channels, DVD (you will find a selection of DVDs and books with a Scottish theme). The views from the living room are also wonderful. A beautiful hard wood floor runs throughout the cottage but is complemented by warm rugs and soft furnishings. The bathroom has also been upgraded, featuring a brand new suite and gorgeous 'Naranja' tiles (as seen on Grand Designs).

Outside, there is a large garden with a table and chairs for al-fresco dining in the summer. A barbecue and picnic blankets are also available. Children are very welcome, and hopefully they will spot some red squirrels in the garden! Pets are also very welcome. The wildlife in the garden can be quite exciting at times, but usually friendly - as well as red squirrels we have seen deer, grouse and pheasants. Our guests have reported many sightings!

A welcome pack of essentials to get you going is provided, something we have always appreciated on our own travels.

We are now in our sixth season and have really enjoyed welcoming guests to our lovely cottage, set in a truly fantastic location with glorious scenery and fabulous views to the west. We have always tried to ensure that the cottage is well equipped and welcoming with special touches - you will even find a set of antlers in the living room! The refurbishment over the winter of 2015/16 has made Tulach even more special. With our extensive local knowledge of the area, we can also offer suggestions and ideas to help you make the most of your stay. We already have a Visit Scotland 3 stars grading.

The immediate surroundings are amazing - try a quick walk up the road and revel in the views. There is a river close to the house (across the road and down a little) and you can walk around here too but please watch children carefully at all times as the water is fast flowing.

We are also very proud of our bespoke walking guide, prepared by Jennifer's father who has scaled a very large number of the Munros in Scotland. To ensure a great day out, picnic blankets and picnic equipment are provided. We are now part of the Visit Scotland Walkers Welcome and Cyclists Welcome accreditation schemes.

Walking is not the only pursuit to enjoy here of course, and we will do our best to help you make the most of your stay. Or you may simply just want to relax in the cottage or garden. Don't forget to look up at the sky at night - you won't believe what you can see on a cloudless night!

Fabulous base, great weather and a breath-taking locale have left us all feeling decidedly Scottish! Many many thanks for everything, it was just what we needed and the photography and astronomy is to die for! Hopefully returning later in the year to this wee gem of a house. Many many thanks again.

Fantastic cottage

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is very well equipped and its location means it benefits from fantastic views.

The only downside is the steep access into the property. Which could be slippy in wet conditions.

Owner's Response: So pleased that you enjoyed our lovely cottage and soaked in the gorgeous views. The cottage is high up so the access is a bit steep and can get a little slippery when wet, and we've always explained that on our HomeAway listing. The views are certainly worth it!

Great place for a getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had 3 nights at Tulach & throughly enjoyed it! The kids loved playing in garden which was a great size. Having the open fire was amazing. The house is very modern inside & has everything you'll need for your break away. Lovely drop of whiskey waiting for us as well! We will definitely be going back!

Beautiful Tulach

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous weekend at the cottage. It is in a beautiful location and the gardens are lovely. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. The children and the dogs loved it. Wonderful local walks that you don't have to drive to just head straight out of the cottage. Hopefully make it back again.

Really nice place and great place for a family. Everything is perfect in the house, clean, and nothing is missing. Really calm. We can see a lot of animals all around and in the garden too (squirrels, birds...). Nice walks around the house. The house is well located and not so far from Lock Ness, Edimburg, Highlands...

There is a good selection of books and DVDs in the living room (many with a Scottish theme) and some games and jigsaws. We provide a coal bucket and a basket of logs with kindling and fire lighters to get you going and enjoy a lovely open fire on arrival. We also leave a welcome pack of essentials (milk, butter, bread, tea, coffee, biscuits) and a bottle of wine for our guests on arrival. We want you to settle in and relax quickly! Please do make use of our own bespoke walking guide and make use of the picnic blankets. A car is strongly recommended because the last section of the road up from Blair Atholl is fairly steep - although fit and adventurous types will cope without. Please note that the access road from Blair Atholl is a single track (with passing places). The slope up to the front door of the house is a bit steep and in wet weather can be difficult for anyone who is infirm. There is no disabled access. However, for most people access should not present any difficulties.
