Burnside is a cottage perfect for a walking or cycling holiday on the route of the 2014 Tour de France. The cottage is warm and cosy, with electric heaters throughout and a multi-fuel stove in the living room, coal and logs included. With contemporary oak and pine furniture, and comfortable beds, Burnside is charming and welcoming. The dining kitchen is roomy and well-equipped and bathroom and shower room have luxury fittings, ideal for a soak after a day's hiking. The King's Head has reopened, also newly refurbished, just a short stroll across the village, serving good food and ales. Ghyllfoot Tearoom has great home-cooked food. Plenty of public parking directly opposite the cottage and attractive rear patio with garden furniture. Free wifi. Sorry, dogs not accepted. Sleeps 5/6, although more suited to parties of 4 or 5. Rear patio can be accessed from the pasture, so suitable for storing cycles without having to go through the house. NOTE, please send Enquiry, rather than Request to Book.

Newly refurbished dining kitchen, with lovely granite worktops.

Master bedroom is spacious, with a kingsize bed and lovely bedlinen. Second bedroom is a twin room, with a third dble bedroom downstairs (note, full size dble bed, but not much floor space left).

A luxury family bathroom upstairs, with rolltop bath, and shower room, with WC, halfway up the feature stone stairs.

A wonderful cottage with masses of walks direct from the door amid stunning scenery! Free wifi, sorry, no pets. 2 nt bookings are accepted, at £15 less than price of 3 nts.

Notes on accommodation: While the downstairs bedroom can accommodate 2 people, not much space remaining in bedroom. House is relatively small, so more suited to families of 4 or 5. Note, doorway to twin bedroom is low; tall people beware! Sorry, no smokers or dogs. Outside: Rear small flagged patio with garden furniture. Rear patio can be accessed from the pasture, so suitable for storing cycles etc without having to go through the house. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedlinen and tea towels are included, sorry, personal towels are not included (although we can hire you towels @£2pp, please request on booking). Property is professionally cleaned before every booking. All electric, coal and logs for heating are included.

The Old Working Smith Museum, Gunnerside, open summer only. Ghyllfoot Tearoom, Gunnerside, is also a bistro Wed and Sat evenings (booking needed), and does takeaway curry Mon evenings. Mobile fish and chip van Friday evenings, 7pm - 7.30pm (sometimes later in summer when there are lots of visitors!). King's Head pub in Gunnerside is newly reopened. Farmer's Arms pub in Muker. Booking Notes:
Contact Judith Dower on 01748 886366 to book. A 2 person 10% discount (one bedroom) is available during non-peak weeks. Week bookings are Fri to Fri, although if possible, we try to be flexible re start days, and short breaks are welcome all year round. If booking more than 8 weeks in advance, a non-refundable deposit of £90 is payable. If within 8 weeks, or for a short break, full amount payable on booking. 3 nt short breaks are 70% of week price, 2 nts are £15 less than 3 nt price.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Friday, depart by 10am, arrive 3pm (4pm in peak weeks). Arrival dates may be flexible in non-peak times, contact Judith to ask, 01748 886366.

Notes on prices:
3 night short breaks are 70% of the week price. Please contact Judith for prices of short breaks of different lengths (2 nts breaks are accepted, at £15 less than 3 nts price).
