About Angie Dunant
My partner first moved to Montgomery living at, of all places the "Old Gaol". That was 40 years ago and whilst it took some time to find the right opportunity, finally Bank Cottage became available. We snapped it up as it met all of our criteria for the perfect cosy cottage, oozing history and in an ideal location. We spend much of our time travelling as we have children and grandchildren in New Zealand. We see no reason to leave the cottage empty and thus rent it for holiday use.
Angie Dunant purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Angie Dunant chose Montgomery
Montgomery is a quiet, beautiful and well preserved town that feels and acts like a village. It's small enough to remain protected in the designated Conservation area, yet large enough to have a great variety of events and attractions for all interests. It has a range of small shops, pubs and local facilities with a village feel and pace of life; yet is only 9 or 10 miles from the larger facilities offered by neighbouring Welshpool and Newtown centres. A 30 minutes drive gets you across the English border to a fascinating larger Old town - Shrewsbury. Well worth a days visit in itself. Montgomery has a Town Crier, our lovely 5 foot 3 'Sue Blower'. Shrewsbury has a Skyscraper of a man Town Crier.. Martin Wood - The worlds Tallest Town Crier at 7 feet 2 inches !

Bank Cottage, Montgomery
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bank Cottage in Montgomery. The cottage has a lovely warm feel and is very welcoming. We are a family of five with a dog and the cottage worked perfectly for us and I loved the living room with the wood burning stove. Montgomery village is so peaceful and quiet and we were quite taken with the silence when we arrived. Everyone is very friendly and wants to say hello and Montgomery is a safe idyllic village.
Beautiful location, cosy and welcoming accommodation
We had a very enjoyable stay in Montgomery as a family of 5, the village is so lovely, amazing views from the castle and war memorial and lovely shops and eateries, all just a few minutes walk from the property. The property itself is cosy and full of character, it had everything we needed and more, the hosts were very welcoming and provided lots of information on the area. We would definitely like to stay again and will recommend the property and area to friends.
Lovely cottage and lovely village. Great fruit and veg market.
Beautiful, quaint cottage
Relaxing weekend in a lovely location. Cottage was stunning. The cottage owner, Angie, was fantastic with great communication - she went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic
Thank you very much for such a lovely review Fiona and I'm happy that you enjoyed staying at Bank Cottage.
Montgomery is a great location for a relaxing weekend but the weekends are never long enough! There's more to see and do here than often expected. Still, that's a good enough reason to return!
The cottage is full of character and in a perfect location.
We loved it so much we would like to visit it again.
Thank you for such a lovely review Coleen. Yes, indeed Montgomery is not only a stunning location but is also a vibrant market town with lots of events and happenings throughout the year. I hope that you do decide to visit again and please check my new Facebook page "Bank Cottage, Montgomery" for an update on events.
Fantastic! Lovely, homely, historic cottage in beautiful area
Family of five (2 adults and three children aged between 8 and 13) stayed in Bank Cottage for 3 nights. A lovely welcome awaited us - Welsh cakes and wine, with lots of information and brochures about Montgomery and the surrounding area. The cottage is over 200 years old, really quirky with lots of nooks and crannies, and so comfortable and homely. We had a fabulous stay. Fantastic walks around the town, seeing the exterior of the old Gaol, Monty's Brewery, historic churches, the 'Robber's Grave' to name just a few. A walk up to the castle is on your doorstep.
The cottage is ideally located for the centre of Montgomery and its shops, museums and cafes. (N.B. If travelling to visit specific tourist spots in advance then check opening times via phone and / or website. Some places don't officially open until Spring / main season but may open if you call; for instance The Old Bell Museum or model car museum).
Montgomery is a lovely old town with beautiful buildings. Bunner's shop is an olde worlde shop, an Aladdin's cave selling everything from hardware and ironmongery to children's toys. Something special about it - feels like from a bygone time!
The nearby Dragon Hotel has a swimming pool in an outbuilding which residents and non-residents can use (the latter, at a reasonable charge). The hotel is less than 5 minutes' walk from the cottage which was great for going for a swim or something tasty to eat. There is also a nice fish & chip shop in the main square and a Spar which caters for everyday convenience.
The view out of the cottage dining room across the hills or sitting in the front garden of the cottage is lovely. So peaceful. The cottage also caters for your needs in terms of fast Wifi, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster and TV. We loved the log-burning stove too.
Lots to see and do nearby including Stokesay Castle, the Land of Lost Content and Powis Castle. We didn't get to see and do everything we wanted so hope to return. Some great family memories made during our stay. All in all, a fantastic place to stay. Many thanks!
What can I say? That is such a wonderful review for both the cottage and the town. We know that its special here and its lovely to be able to share the unique character that is Montgomery. Bank Cottage makes a great, cosy family, get-away location. Toy cars, tennis court, swimming pool, forest walks and a castle caters for all ages, just a walk from the door.
We very much look forward to welcoming you back.
Thank you again
